TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE FALSE OWLS TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME!!!!!!!!!! /nf /pos
OK OK OK OK get ready
Putting it under here because there was more than expected lol
So basically false owls are a very large owl like creature probably just a bit smaller then the average human, they live in small groups of 5-10, nocturnal, excellent hearing and theyre uncannily smart for what they are
They’re usually quiet passive (especially in the day) but can be an absolute menace to anything and everything whether they have a good reason or not during the night. They do the typical normal hunting usually just hunting smaller animals but when hunting in groups they can take animals the same size or bigger.
They can do the standard chase hunting but they have also learnt that animal burrows can be collapsed if new or not deep enough so when looking for food they also listen for sounds under the ground and will dive and stomp on top of burrows to make them collapse to scare animals out where others can pick them off. Theyre also known for poking sticks into burrows too and waiting outside of burrows until the creature emerges. Theyre also known for playing with animals before killing them off properly lol
Because of the group nature they’re also known for forming relationships with creatures outside of their own species. If another animal manages to feed them safely they will know not to hunt that individual as it would stop that food income, they might also protect that individual from other creatures (including other false owls). They also learnt to tolerate other creatures depending on if its a risk to themselves, for example if another creature killed a false owls then the other members of the group would learn not to mess with that individual creature (or they would chase them to the ends of the earth but it depends on how tightly knit the group is). This also applies that if a creature is harassing them, then they can tell other false owls to avoid them or to gang up on them. They recognise faces and sounds/voices from other false owls and other creatures.
Although they stay in small groups theyre not necessarily territorial. Groups communicate with other groups and if another group comes too close to anothers roost or area then they tend to just sort tell them to leave (idk how to explain it they just communicate). Groups are family based and can just be a bunch of randoms together.
Theyre pretty fragile and a bite from a bigger animal would be game over for them and theyre very susceptible to rain and water.
Overall, theyre just massive really smart owls that like in packs and are a menace to absolutely everything.
