I had a vision GOOD NIGHT
Photo by N, who is my Beloved :)
My sister: Dad says that we have to eat at home tonight, what are you going to eat for dinner?
Me: THE TOASTY SOULS OF THE DAMNED! (ノ⊙ヮ⊙)ノ
Sister: No, really, what are you having? (¬_¬)
Me: The flayed skin of a misogynist. (◡ω◡✿)
Sister: ....Stop that. ಠ_ಠ
And I Am Telling You, Emma/Regina, PG
a disapproving MM about the SQ relationship
"But Mom," Emma whines, exasperated now. Everyone else in the room whirls back round to stare at her. Oh. Great time to bust out the 'Mom' card for the first time.
"Emma," Snow White says, her voice not betraying the anger that's evident on her face. "I cannot--I will not--condone you cavorting with that woman."
"Oh, we have many names for you," Charming chimes in (Emma can't quite get there on the Dad thing, but Prince Charming she had no problem switching to). "But none appropriate to be used in front of my daughter."
"Emma," Regina says, impatience creeping in as she swings her black Jimmy Choos against the cupboard door. "This isn't working."
"Wait a minute!" Emma yells. "I am a grown woman. I can date anyone I like. I don't need permission. We're in Maine, not the freakin' Enchanted Forest."
"It was in the Enchanted Forest that your girlfriend," Snow White screws up her pretty face in disgust at the term. "Tried to have me killed. It was there that she put me into a magical coma. If she'd had her way, Emma, you would never have been born."
"I know that," Emma grumbles. "All I've heard for weeks now is a laundry list of complaints and evil acts and it still hasn't changed the way I feel."
"She took you from us!" Snow White is on her feet now, marching across the small apartment to grab Emma by her jacket. "She took your childhood!"
"No," Emma shakes her head. "You did that, Mom. You gave me up."
"Emma!" Charming is shocked at the accusation, but when Emma stares them down she sees the flickers of guilt in their eyes.
"You chose to give me up," Emma says. "Just like I did with Henry. But you chose it, whatever your reasons. Did you even ask the Blue Fairy for an alternative? Did you read every magic book and try other ways to take out your enemy? No. Someone said 'give up your baby' and you did it."
"To break the curse," Snow White all but growls, the anger very much in evidence now. She releases her grip on her daughter's jacket and approaches Regina instead. Snow White makes it within two feet of Regina before a lazy flick of the wrist propels Snow magically back across the room.
"Everyone made mistakes," Emma says. "I know I did, growing up here without a family. But I read Henry's book. I've talked to every person in this town about their real story. And I gotta say, there's blame on every side. Everyone had some urgent need, some threat that put their back against the wall. Everybody wanted to win, or to be happy."
"But Emma," Snow White is pleading now. "We love you. We have always loved you, even when she cursed us into forgetting you."
"And I love her, too," Regina says simply, still flicking at her nails. Emma can see the tension in her shoulders though, can see that the nonchalance is all an act for the benefit of Emma's parents. The Evil Queen gets nervous, it turns out. Who knew?
"You're not capable of love," Charming accuses, reaching instinctively for a sword that isn't there. Emma's got every serious weapon in town under lock and key (and magical protection, courtesy of Regina, but nobody needs to know that).
"Yes, she is," comes the correction, and Emma's stunned to hear it coming from her mother. "You loved me, once, didn't you Regina?"
"Perhaps," Regina hedges, looking up at her former stepdaughter. "Until you took away everything I did love."
"And apparently I've given you a daughter to love now, instead," Snow says, head in her hands. "Does that make us even? Can you finally let this horrible, dark grudge go?"
"I'm...not sure," Regina says slowly, as though the words are in another, unfamiliar language. "Forgiveness is for the pure of heart, you know that as well as I do."
"I think we should go," Emma says, walking across the kitchen in this place she's called home for a year, and taking Regina's hand to help her down from the counter. It's a pointless moment of chivalry, but Regina smiles at Emma in that way she has, that way that makes Emma just a little weak in the knees. This is why, Emma reminds herself, she's risking everything for this crazy affair. "Come along, your Majesty."
"Wait," Snow White calls out. "Where will you go?"
"We'll be at Regina's house," Emma says. "Henry's waiting."
"You'd really choose her over us?" Snow persists, glaring at how Regina is still holding Emma's hand.
"I'm hoping you won't let it come to that," Emma admits. "I don't want your permission, but at some point I'm going to want your blessing."
"You ask a lot of us," Charming says, stepping in to wrap a strong arm around Snow White's shoulders. "But let's give it some time."
"Be careful," Snow warns as Emma leads Regina towards the front door. Emma marvels silently at how many different warnings are crammed into those two simple words.
"I always am," Emma throws back over her shoulder. It's only when they're safely in the hallway of her apartment building that she lets the tough façade fall away, but Regina is braced and ready to catch her when she slumps. "Don't make me regret this," Emma sobs against Regina's shoulder.
"I won't," Regina promises, hugging Emma close.
