Phi-tastic Game Night | 4.8.13

The event was pushed back to 9:15 PM to allow travel time for people who were also participating in the Fam Comp. We all had a lot of fun playing on Tim's Wii and it was nice to see everyone try playing at least once even though some of us had never played before and didn't know what to do. Afterwards, people started playing Jenga and Apples to Apples and then it was getting pretty late so we all decided that it was time to go home around 11:30. Two hours of family bonding!!

Alpha, Let's Roll! | 4.4.13

Chair: Dianne Pham, Alpha Theta

On April 4, a group of Alphas got together to make spring rolls with everyone. Big shout out to Raymond Mai, Kevin Qiu, and Jonathan Wu for flaking in so last minute in order to help the family out. Everyone at campout enjoyed the spring rolls and we enjoyed making them. It was nice bonding as a family because it was such a random family event and more people should come out the next time we make food because Alpha's can definitely cook. Food is definitely the best way to bond as a family and we'll be sure to have more events related to food. Maybe next time, we can try making a different ethnic dish because it was great that we got a sample of something very cultural.

Alphas Get A's | 3.14.13

Chair: Raymond Mai, Alpha Eta

On March 14, 2013, the Alphas gathered for the first Family event of Spring term! They all met at Gardenia's 2nd floor lounge, all ready with their study materials. All 11 Alphas came together to study for their respective classes, spread out about the lounge. They spent two hammering away at their laptops, notebooks, and lecture slides when, all of a sudden, Cindy Nguyen got distracted and showed Raymond Mai how slow she typed. She demonstrated how she can only type ONE letter at a time. Curious, Raymond Mai went on a website to test how many words he could type in a minute. Soon enough, more people joined in due to their competitive nature. Michelle Tanuwidjaja and Michael Hung ended up being victorious as they achieved over 130+ words a minute. It was astounding! Overall, though, all the Alphas managed to be successful in studying for the time. Each and every Alpha got some work done and left on a happy note at 9:30pm.
