[Halo Effect]
Student One was strapped to an electric chair in front of a personal computer set up. Blinders were placed in front of Student One so she would not be able to see anything but the computer in front of her and her noise canceling headset was removed. A joy-con was placed in each of Student One’s hands.
The computer was turned on and Student One was given the instructions that she was going to be doing a Gaming and Zatsudan stream. She was to answer each question delivered to her in a donation, and each time she failed the time on the question would decrease. First Student one would be given a red superchat which would allow her 15 minutes to respond to the question. If she failed, she would then have to answer a yellow super chat in 10. Then a green chat with 5 minutes, and finally a blue chat with just one minute. If she failed that final question, the chair would electrocute her and kill her. Each time she died in the game the chair would give her a lower, though still incredibly painful, shock. What Student One was not told was that each time she answered a question correctly, her environment would become more overwhelming.
Then the stream began and she was thrown into a first person shooter lobby, and once the game began Dr. Kan sent in the first question.
Question One: Mikimiki, do you still think you’re a good person.
Student One gave an anxious and apologetic answer, though she tripped over her wording. Student One answered the question and the speakers behind her began to faintly play the noise of a room with a few people in it.
Student One continued the stream without issue for another 2 minutes until she died in the game. The chair administered an electric shock. Question two was then sent in.
Question Two: Do you think you’re a violent person.
This time Student One sat in a pensive silence until the time limit was almost over. 2 minutes before the time limit expired, she quietly said no. Student One answered the question and the volume on the speakers was turned louder
This cycle continued until question ten. By this point the speakers had switched from playing the sounds of a small gathering to a crowded party and were now at full volume. The noise level was well above the threshold to give a person a headache. Student One had also died quite a few times in the game, and the shocks administered by the chair had become much more painful than they started as.
Question Ten: How do you think Wada Masanari will fair without you?
This time Student One struggled to speak at a level the microphone could pick up, and tripped over her words as she cried. She did not answer the question in time and the time limit decreased. Question Eleven was then administered.
Question Eleven: Please describe what happened between you and your sister.
This time Student One did answer the question, however she omitted quite a few details, the most important being that her sister was hospitalized. Since she lied, it was ruled she failed the question and the time limit decreased again. Student One became very distressed by this.
Student One then became focused on answering questions as quickly as possible, answering another nine questions with minimal issue.
By question twenty the atmosphere of the party had been switched to the atmosphere of a crowded shopping district. The speakers had also been turned to their fullest volume, which was well above the average limit. By this time Student One’s ears were beginning to bleed and she had to yell into the microphone to be heard. Crash test dummies were also put into the execution chamber. These dummies were programmed to roam around the room, bumping into Student One more and more frequently as she answered more question correctly. Question twenty one was then administered
Question Twenty One: Do you think you’ve let your viewers down?
Student One was struggling to breathe by this point and failed to answer the question. The time limit was shortened to just one minute.
Question Twenty Two: Do you still love us?
Student One failed to answer the question over her hyperventilating, sobbing, and the ambiance of the room.
The chair was then set to full power and Student One died within moments.
