Fictophilia Awareness

Fictophilia is “Desire, sexual attraction, or intense feelings of love towards a fictional character, similar in strength and application of those felt towards real people.”

In other words, there is a word for having a real crush/real feelings of love for a fictional character.

I know there are a lot of memes and all that where people say they love a character, but I’m talking about you having a favorite character that you love like you might love a real person.

If any of my followers feel this, just know that you’re not the only one out there. You’re not weird, or strange. There is a recognized word for it, and there is NOTHING wrong with it.

(Tbh I’m surprised this isn’t a WAY more popular word I mean falling for a fictional character is so easy jfc).

Finbar I of Sevenwaters Appreciation Post

Because I have not done this in the nearly three years since joining Tumblr. HOLY CRAP HAS IT BEEN THAT LONG ALREADY?

There are several reasons he is my favourite character in the series and my fancrush from it. Our teeny tiny fandom needs more in-depth text posts, honestly, so here I am making one for my bab.

Not to be confused with Finbar II, who is a sweet kid with a very apt name and probably got an Eevee at the end of Flame That is my headcanon and I”m sticking to it, but he’s about Clodagh level on my Favourite Characters list.

Spoilers under the cut. You have been warned.

Reasons to love Finbar:

He loved his sister so very, very much. He loved her more than he loved himself and it was beautiful and heartbreaking by turns. From the moment he showed her the swans in the first chapter to her introduction to starwort, to him trying to protect her from the horrors of the world and what his father was perfectly okay with doing to prisoners, to him giving Sorcha his amulet at the end of his second night of humanity during the curse ... He wanted her to be safe. He wanted her to be happy. He didn’t kill himself because he felt it would be an insult to her sacrifice. He loved her so much that he fought back the fears of the swan when he came to the keep to be with her when she died. His love is pure and precious and makes me want to cry.

He was a rebellious teenager. We only got a glimpse of this but I firmly believe him standing up to Colum and rescuing Simon were not the only rebellious moments in his life up to that point.

I am the beat of a swan’s wing on the breath of the wind. I am the secret at the heart of the standing stone. I am the island in the wild sea. I am the fire in the head of the seer. I am neither of that world nor of this. And yet, I am a man. I have blood on my hands. I have loved and lost. I feel your pain, and I know your strength. Aka. HIS WAY WITH WORDS IS SO SO BEAUTIFUL.

He endured so many difficult visions, not knowing which would come true or which would be averted by the least alteration. It shaped his character and although it took him so long to see it for himself, he was the stronger for bearing that burden, difficult though it was.

Just everything about the swan’s wing. I wanted to hold him. MY POOR SWEET CHILD.

He was so scared of Oonagh that his first sight of Fainne freaked him out, but when she gave him the clarion call, he listened. I hate to think what would have happened if not for that meeting.

This gets its own point despite being related to the last one. He died saving Ciarán from Oonagh. He died saving Ciarán from Oonagh. He died. Saving CIARAN. from OONAGH. It hurt me so much, but after Cormack and Diarmid dying off-screen and Liam being taken out by a coward whose face he never saw, this was so, so satisfying. MY BRAVE BABAY i LOVE YOU.

I could go into my headcanons, but that would detract from this post. Any Sevenwaters fans are welcome to add to this if they thought of stuff I missed! It has been a while since I properly read the books. Curse you, Terry Donnelly!

Welcome Everybody!

My friend @yangirebananaboat and I formed the Random Ship Cabin as a (somewhat) inside joke that we could have a cabin filled solely with all of the fictional characters we would date lol.

I myself was never sure about actually making this blog active (we actually made it years ago), but thanks to a ton of inspiration from my two favorite headcanon/ask/matchup blogs @saltyteru and @villainousfe (you guys are awesome <3), I’ve decided to open it for business!

We’re not really confined to a specific fandom, so any fictional character you have a thing for is fair game! OTPs between two fictional characters are good too =)

All sexualities/genders accepted!
