ㅤㅤ ݁ 📚 ◠ ִ he’s in his element with a tween or teen regressor, loves using things he’s learned from the kids at school to try and connect with you. he can get so embarrassing with it too, like trying to “casually” use new slang that doesn’t even make sense in the conversation..

ㅤㅤ ݁ 🌎 ◠ ִ always tries his hardest to give you space to express your feelings with him. he’s quick to catch on if you have bad days and tries to subtly bring it up with you so you can open up.. is never really subtle but its obvious he’s really trying and cares a lot.

⟶ at times he can get scared that he’s hovering too much when he’s caring for you. sometimes he probably is but if you talk to him about it, he’d be very understanding and try to dial down to whatever’s best for you!

ㅤㅤ ݁ 📚 ◠ ִ gets so emotional by any accomplishments you make, even ones that might seem “small” to you. he loves taking cute pictures or noting down what the milestone was and he is definitely the kind to make a whole organized scrapbook out of it.

ㅤㅤ ݁ 🌎 ◠ ִ loves matching with his regressor and will actively look for things you can have to match with each other like socks or t shirts. he’s very insistent that it is indeed super cool and that it could never ever be lame to match together!!

ㅤㅤ ݁ 📚 ◠ ִ museum outings!! one of his favorite activities is going to museums, especially history ones. he’s extra extra patient in this environment, will take time for you both to look at displays and will read it aloud to you— occasionally adding on whatever facts and tidbits he knows about it.

ㅤㅤ ݁ 🌎 ◠ ִ big on binge watching shows together, sets up some extra time to watch whatever show you both can enjoy and sometimes invites melissa to watch too. whatever show you’re watching becomes a big talking topic between you all from then on!

ㅤㅤ ݁ 📚 ◠ ִ story time with a younger regressor is actually really difficult for him and not because he lacks the imagination for it but because he gets carried away with all the details in story making. he gets so excited with acting it out that you both end up getting too hyper towards bed time

⟶ with an older regressor he does something similar when telling stories from his day to day life. he gets excited about being able to talk with you and make you laugh so he talks foreverrrr.. he drags it out purposely to get laughs out of you and keep you entertained T-T

Any other regressors who watch Psych? Because I can't stop thinking about Shawn and Gus both being regressors.

Gus has a bigger range but is more consistent. One day, he's a big, cool eight year old who wants to play video games and eat junk food, The next day, he's just a little baby... 🥺 and then other days, he's a moody teenager with a smart mouth. Meanwhile, Shawn is all over the place, not really one age or the other, but always a varying mix of toddler touching things he shouldn't, chatty kid, and bratty preteen. (Shawn is also a permaregressor, you cannot change my mind about that.)

Shawn and Gus having playdates all the time, but also they're each other's caregivers when needed. When Gus has nightmares, Shawn comes over to make him warm milk and hold him until he feels safe enough to fall back asleep, then makes him pancakes in the morning. When Shawn gets stuck in his head, Gus knows all the tricks, using Shawn's favorite toys and doing funny voices to distract him from the memories he recalls perfectly.

trinity santos & dissociative regression

CW: mentions of abuse, CSA trauma, & other canon tws. all of this also goes with this post on how trinity’s regression first starts

when trinity regresses, she feels like she’s sinking deep inside of herself. it’s a very familiar feeling. it’s reminiscent of when she was a kid and her gymnastics coach would start yelling. trinity would look on a spot on the wall, unfocus her eyes and tell herself “i’m not here, i’m not here, i’m not here.” she’d fall so far into herself she’d start floating somewhere between the pit of her gut and miles away from her skin. she’d get the escape she’d needed and in the moment, this gave a sense of relief. until the crises would pass and trinity realized — she’d left her body and had no clue how to get back.

when little!trinity takes over, big!trin can feel herself falling away. the two sides of her brain shift like tectonic plates as little!trinity emerges and big!trinity is pushed to the back. sometimes, this is terrifying for little!trin. she doesn’t understand why it’s happening and she feels so frozen and out of control. but her desperation to hide only pushes her big self further away. this leaves little!trin feeling so stranded.

little!trinity was born out of trauma. she is the most vulnerable, unmasked version of herself which can make fronting with others terrifying. especially in the beginning. she’s scared of being seen, scared of being hurt, scared of being taken advantage of.

given all of this, little!trinity is trapped at a toddler age and sometimes falls even younger. this is the only headspace in which her body and brain knows how to feel & process its emotions.

little!trinity displays many signs of csa. accepting help is a constant internal battle for her. even when she has a cg / dennis as a ‘big brother’.

she’ll wake up after a nightmare, having wet the bed, and all she’ll want is to text her cg or run to dennis so he can fix it. trinity craves that comfort so deeply that resisting it is on par with physically fighting herself. but the big voice in her head is constantly telling her that she can’t. she doesn’t need to. she needs to suck it up. so trinity will try to handle it on her own, which only makes things worse.

the “big voice” is something little!trinity has a hard time with in general. sometimes she wants to be small — like when dennis buys 15 different lunchables because he’s never had one before and he needs trinity to help him sample and rank all of them. little!trinity wants to be there for that; she wants to be all the way herself and have fun with him. but often she can feel big!trinity lingering in the back & hear all of her thoughts. when little!trinity actually wants to be present, this frustrates her to no end.

when she’s big again, trinity generally won’t remember what she did/said while small. bits and pieces are there, depending on how close by she’d been lingering, but if she was fully gone — sometimes all she knows is that she’d regressed.

trinity doesn’t think anything of this though. she knows memory gaps with trauma are normal and most of the time, she doesn’t really notice them. this has always been her baseline so half the time she doesn’t realize she’s forgotten something unless someone else brings it up.

finally, the same way that little!trinity hears big!trinity, big!trinity can hear little!trin. it isn’t constant — if trinity is big, she’s generally alone up there. but certain things will trigger little!trin to appear. like when she’s finishing a particularly bad shift and she can see baran a few yards away and all she can hear is a tiny voice crying “i want mama! i want mama!” or when she’s bored and charting, so someone is whining “this is dumbbbbb” & “i wanna go home! be all done right now”
