The AAs’ fandom awards are huge gaudy monstrosities and they look like they came from tacky tourist shops. If Jensen hasn’t thrown them away it’s collecting ugly dust.||| I've worked for conventions in Chicago, not SPN though, but for other fandoms, and those types of gifts get thrown away all the time by the end of the day, along with food items (Even that super expensive chocolate or the cookies baked with your family's centuries old recipes). Stuffed animals or clothing items are donated to charities. Celebrities rarely take gifts home, and even some of the things they do take with them are often simply regifted to their staff. I had a PA tell me her boss has let her keep a bunch of jewelry pieces given by fans.
When I saw the AA creation I thought, did they seriously expect him to lug that huge ungaingly thing onto the plane? Yeah there is absolutely no way for celebrities to keep most of the fans’ gifts and letters, the amount they get could literally fill a warehouse. I read that bras thrown at musicians get donated to women shelters since those undergarments are expensive.
For the 1 year anniversary of the Gunpowder Milkshake release, the discord is organizing a mini fandom award for all the fanfics, artworks and other fanworks that have been created during the last year!
What is a fanwork award?
Everyone in the fandom can nominate works and later vote on which one is their favourite! There are different ways to run awards in fandom, for more information have a look at the fanlore wiki awards page.
The GM award will have nominations for all works at once, the nominations will be split by mods into different work categories, and then people can vote on which one's they like best per category.
Does the winner get anything?
Bragging rights! And probably some more attention as the winning works will be shared again, but really the event is supposed to draw attention to all the works that now aren't so new anymore.
Works can be nominated over the next two days, you still have time to either join the discord server and nominate them in the events channel there, or send asks with the work url, or title + creator here!
"Nobody even likes 5sos" yeah sweetie well every other band nominated likes 5sos and if you consider THEM "nobody'' we just figured out why your fandom lost
so I just have one opinion that needs to be shared. 5SOS won for FANDOM, they did not win for best band, or live band or anything like that. Honestly everyone is pissed because they won for a FANDOM award. They’re fans are dedicated af and if you really wanted your band to win you would have voted your ass off. I’m not saying I think they should have won but hey it was FANS PICK.
