If you want to sign up as a pinch hitter, please reply to this post naming the fandoms you are willing to pinch hit for! Pinch hitters will make something for requests that can't be matched or if a gifter has to leave the exchange after matches have been made, and they won't have to stick to creation minimum requirements.

MISSION STATEMENT AND FAQ
Mission Statement:
The Old Guard Femslash Discord, or The Femslash Guard Discord, aims to be a positive female-centric, wlw-centric space to discuss and celebrate The Old Guard’s extraordinary female characters, femslash pairings, actresses, and more! Fandom has a tendency to sideline its female characters, even more so those of color and unfortunately The Old Guard isn’t the exception, which Nile’s relative fandom obscurity, despite her being one of the film’s two female leads, helps to illustrate. This is a dedicated space to build community by uplifting specifically the women of The Old Guard and their platonic, romantic and sexual relationships with each other, while also serving as a space where queer women can and are encouraged to freely and communally express their desire without fear of shame, reproach or disregard.
We invite everyone interested to read our guidelines and expectations before joining the server. Access to the nsfw channels is selectable in the #role-select channel. Don’t enter if you’re under 18, be honest.

What is Discord?
Discord is a software used to host chats about various interests. Think of it as a big, fancy, very organized group chat. We chose to host this space on Discord because it is a good space for discussion and has very neat organizational features.
Why did you start this Discord? Aren’t there already some TOG Discord servers?
Often female characters are overlooked in mainstream media, from having none to few, to having them be sexualized or strictly serving another character’s story, usually male. This disregard and relegation inevitably permeates fandom as well and The Old Guard unfortunately hasn’t been the exception, even when it has succeeded in other aspects. It becomes particularly disheartening when you consider that unlike most media, The Old Guard features two amazing female leads, front and center, unsexualized and remarkably well developed, laying the foundation to a third, and was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, an amazingly talented black woman who filled the movie with all the heart and respect that made it so remarkable.
Did you perhaps not know about Nile Freeman, a woman of color, being one of the film’s leads before watching? Are you dubious of Charlize Theron’s leading role based off Tumblr? Did you see Ngo Thanh Van for ten whole seconds but can’t get enough of her and want the sequel asap? Maybe you’ve been wondering where all the female and femslash content has gone. Is Tumblr flagging it? Would you perhaps like to know each and every member of the infamous Andramaquynh fam? We felt that not enough space existed for conversation about them all in general TOG spaces, and felt that a hub where everyone who can’t get enough of them can come together was a pretty sweet idea. And we hope you feel the same way!
In short, we wanted to create a positive, well deserved, dedicated space for the extraordinary women of The Old Guard and their relationships.
Can I join if I ship other non-femslash pairings?
Yes! As long as you recognize and respect the female and femslash focus this server has, and direct your talk to the appropriate general channels, we’d be thrilled to have you!

What can I expect to find on this Discord?
There is, of course, some general The Old Guard talk and actress talk channels. There are separate ones for each major female character (Andy, Nile, and Quynh), as well as individual channels for ships (Andromaquynh, Andy/Nile, Andy/Nile/Quynh, etc). There is also a channel for #thirst (for when you just really need to talk about Charlize Theron’s arms) and for #salt (for when you need vent about all of your fandom frustrations). We’ve got channels for the sweet, sweet fancontent (headcanon, fanfiction, fanart, smut), as well as one for wips and prompts so the beautiful process can be shared and we can all inspire each other. There is a resource channel for historical, visual, writing, language, lore and more references, so we can hopefully all teach, learn from and help one another. Finally, we have a space for other fandoms and personal things.
This is awesome! Are there other TOG femslash related things out there?
There was the recent TOG Femslash Fortnight that ran from October-November, and the Andromaquynh Secret Santa that ran from December 24th, 2020 and January 2nd, 2021.
If you know of any blogs/events/spaces that primarily focus on femslash and female characters for this fandom, let us know!

A lovely and heartbreaking fic about Quỳnh returning to the others and especially to Andromache, while still hurting from her trauma and feeling betrayed by them. The story has great character development, many interesting flashbacks and a hopeful ending.

“You’re the oldest,” Nile murmurs in awe. Older than the Crusades. How much older? A few hundred years more? A thousand?
“No,” Nicky says quietly. “Not the oldest.”
Canon-divergent AU. Five hundred years ago, they lost Andromache to the sea. Now Quỳnh leads the team, a new immortal just woke up, and some pharmaceutical company is getting a little too interested in their business.

Another Saving Quỳnh fix-it fic - I know I've written the trope many times before, but there's always a new angle to explore, and this time it was the wonderful art of the immortal family by @unjapanologist for the tog reverse bang by @theoldguardevents! Beta read by @cryhardanddanceharder thank you so much <3
Stats: T, 5k words (so far - there will be a few follow-up fics in the future), mostly immortal family mission vibes with of course A/Q and J/N, angst and h/c
warnings: canon-typical violence, mild gore and temporary character death
Summary: Quỳnh is caught in the iron coffin and Andromache can't get away to rescue her in time - but Niccolò jumps on-board the ship taking her away, Yusuf frees Andromache, and together they all go looking for Quỳnh. A rescue is a team effort.
