In regards to how Katara and Zuko are flanderized and objectified by the Avatar fandom.
Both of them are one of my Top 5 favorite characters favorite characters from the Avatar: The Last Airbender because of their respective personalities, character arcs, their respective powers and abilities, and their respective character growth and character development.
However, I often noticed how noticed how they are both treated by some of the Avatar fans.
This isn't to say all Avatar fans do this, but the ones who do this are the the ones who either views them in on a surface level or in a very shallow way.
Katara is often characterized by some fans as "overemotional", "a crybaby", "self-centered", and just a "prize to be won by the main protagonist".
She's also considered to be good character only she's with a male character(s) that fans adore.
Despite being beloved by fans, Zuko is often mischaracterized as an just an awkward Turtle Duck who expressed his emotions easily, is "the kindest person on the planet", and is "a weak fighter" and firebender when he's actually, someone who's very fiery, impulsive, feisty, not always the nicest person around, but has a heart of gold underneath that fiery exterior
Zuko is a skilled firebender in his one right, and is one of the best fighters and hand-to-hand combatants in the show and in the Avatar Universe.
Not to mention that he's often treated as a prize to be won for other characters who aren't his canonical girlfriend.
So it's extremely irritating and sad to see two amazing, fun, complex, interesting, dynamic, and 3rd dimensional characters being reduced to either their flaws or quicks, or being reduced to shipping prizes and shipping dolls by some of the Avatar fandom.
