A/N: Edited: I've felt the need to write something for Louis in IWTV... I'm not sure if it's any good but I figured I'd post it. This is just something that came off the top of my head. Please give some feedback. There will be a part 2.
Dedicated to @sirxlla from my main account @stitchattacks
I sat curled up on the couch in another part of the penthouse with my headphones on and my computer in my lap, I was typing out some notes from the interview and going through some emails for Danny. The sounds of Linkin Park drowned out the silence that settled into the penthouse like saran wrap, suffocating and confined.
I almost didn’t notice the hand in my peripheral setting a cup on the coffee table onto a coaster. I looked up and smiled at Rashid genuinely and reached up to pull my headphones down to wrap around my neck. “Thank you, I appreciate it.” I spoke softly.
Rashid’s stoic facade broke slightly to give a tiny twitch of a smile back. “You’re very welcome. It’s some hibiscus tea with some honey.”
I smiled wider as I reached forward and gently picked up the mug to sip at it. It was refreshing, making me close my eyes in comfort. “This is delicious, thank you again.”
“I’ve never seen someone so genuinely thankful for things... at least not for a long time anyway.”
I turned and saw Louis there standing with his hands behind his back. He observed the little comfort I made myself on his couch and coffee table. With the blanket I brought from home and my demeanor of content. He stared curiously at me while I smiled softly.
“I used to work retail... Customer service jobs are a bitch.” I said with a grin. “I try to be as genuine as possible with people, especially when they bring me things I didn’t ask for out of kindness.”
Louis grinned softly and looked down before looking back at me. He gestured to the chair next to the couch and I smiled, nodding. He moved to sit down as I moved my laptop to the coffee table. I noticed out of the corner of my eye, Rashid moving to the chair behind him with his iPad, I could tell he was very attentive and listening.
“Could I ask you some questions?” He asked as he crossed his legs, smooth and elegant.
I tilted my head. “Sure, feel free to do so.”
“You’re nothing like Daniel... how do you work with him?” He tilted his head back at me, making me smile.
“Tediously.” I told him, making a small smile come across his lips. “But mostly because he gave me a chance when no one else did. I was just out of college when I met him; his publisher had recommended he get an assistant, and he resisted, quite heavily before he told them he gave me a week. I had applied for the off chance that they might consider me, but I wasn’t hopeful. I had applied at multiple different firms and mostly they just wanted an errand girl, someone to get coffee orders, make copies; that kind of thing. None of them wanted to actually allow me to work or help with projects. They assigned me to Danny and at first, he was combative, until I did something in an article he was writing. This was around the time when he was starting to become complacent and just writing for the hell of it, not really giving genuine projects a thought. He made the article wordy and hard to read. I kind of got ahead of myself and rewrote it to make it easier to read and more flow to the piece.”
I grinned guilty at Louis who raised an eyebrow at me. “You completely rewrote it? I’m surprised he didn’t complain about it.”
“Oh, he did. Every day the week after the article was posted... acting like he didn’t post the article with my changes.” I grinned around the rim of the cup as Louis smirked.
There was a beat of silence.
“You’re unafraid.”
I looked at him, locking eyes. I tried to find what kind of answer he wanted from his statement. “No... No, I'm not afraid.” I told him.
“Why? You should be.” He looked at me curiously. I saw Rashid’s head peak up from over Louis’ shoulder in interest.
“Because if you wanted me dead already... I would be.”
“I could still kill you.” He said bluntly.
I nodded. “Of course you could... A lot of things could kill me. If I live in fear each day of death, then that is no way of living. I’ve already accepted that death is inevitable in life. I came to that conclusion a long time ago. If I die, I die.” I shrug nonchalantly.
Louis’ eyes narrowed at me in thought. “You are a strange bred of human.” He hummed softly, making me smile.
“Thank you.”
He grinned. “Don’t take this wrong way, but I enjoy your line of thought.”
I smile wider, causing my eyes to close. “I’m glad then”
“You don’t find it odd.” He posed it as a statement rather than a question. I’m assuming about the reading minds part.
I looked at him to see he was watching me curiously, his eyes tracing my facial features, like he was looking for something that contradicted what I was saying. “I’ve always been a little more open minded than most.” I let the sentence hang, tilting my head at Louis. I glance behind him to see Rashid watching us, not able to read his face as he looked at Louis and I.
I didn’t notice Louis glance down to my stash of papers and books on the coffee table and when I looked back, he was looking at me with intrigue. “Tuck Everlasting...”
I looked confused for a moment before my mouth opened in realization. I looked down at the coffee table and saw my copy of Tuck Everlasting. I smiled and leaned forward to pick it up gently. “Yeah, I was re-reading it when Daniel told me about coming to Dubai.”
I looked at Louis with a gentle smile and he raised his eyebrow. “Do you think about immortality?”
My gaze grew unfocused as I thought about how to answer the question. “I think, almost every human has thought about it at some point, whether in deep contemplation or just a fleeting thought.”
Louis grinned softly. “I asked if you thought about it.”
I grinned and looked down at the book. “I have before. Just not seriously.”
The was a beat of silence.
I looked up at him from under my lashes.
“What are your thoughts on all of this?” He asks quietly.
I sigh through my nose and purse my lips before speaking. “You want my honesty?”
He nods, staring me down with an intense gaze. His green eyes reflect beautifully in the low light of the room, making goosebumps form on my arms as I repressed a shiver. “I think you’ve lived a long life and still don’t know where you belong.” He frowned. I continued. “Don’t get me wrong, you’ve seemed to belong more now than from what I’ve learned from the sessions back then. But I feel like you still struggle to accept yourself and just continue existing. I feel like you continue living for other people and not yourself. You continue to torture yourself mentally because you feel guilty. For everything. You feel guilty about your old family; you feel guilty for letting Claudia go off on her own.”
I stare at him as I see him swallow, barely noticing Rashid stand up behind him.
“You just do what you know best, you continue going on as you’ve always done. You’re in a constant cycle of guilt and depression and anger.” I whispered out.
The room grew tense as silence fell into the room. Louis sat there; his face had fallen into an expression mixed between quiet anger and sullen thought.
He clenched his eyes shut before sighing and standing up. He looked at me with a stoic gaze, mask falling over his eyes again. “I think I'll go to the Tree Room.” His softspoken voice spoke out before walking calmly out of the room.
Rashid and I stared after him.
Rashid turned to me and I looked at him before I took a sip of my tea.
-
I sat in the chairs next to the big bay windows as Daniel continued the interview with Louis, Rashid sat in another chair nearby with is iPad again, making me smile softly.
I had my laptop on the small table in front of the chair and was typing some notes and making some annotations.
I paused as I heard Louis start talking about the Mardi Gras Ball; his voice had a soft strain as he was telling the events of Claudia gathering the poison, and the how they planned on poisoning Lestat. I looked up at Louis and could see the turmoil on his face as he explained how he was second guessing himself, the dance with Lestat. The people they picked to “gain eternal life,” how they tricked them. What followed made me sit up and listen more closely.
Antoinette, the switch of the poison, Louis’ decision to slice Lestat’s throat.
Louis’ eyes were unfocused as he told the store, his voice getting choked up as he kept going.
Louis still feels the guilt and pain from doing this to the man he loved. His eyes were becoming shiny and lined with red as tears started to build.
I clenched my jaw as I felt my eyes start to cloud with my own tears as I watched this strong man bare his emotions out for all to see.
“Mets-moi dans mon cercueil, Louis...” Daniel read from Claudia’s diary. He looked concerned at Louis, who was barely holding on as it was.
Rashid translated, “Put me in my coffin, Louis.” I looked over at Rashid and noticed he was tense.
“His irises rolled to the top of his head; the whites of his eyes went dim... This horror that had been Lestat... I stared helplessly.” Louis barely got out as his chin trembled. “The thing lay still... there was no point in lingering. The house on Rue Royale would soon become the focus of all too many questions. For the last time in New Orleans, we followed our training and cleaned up the evidence of our most elaborate kill... well... Almost.”
Louis took a deep breath as he swallowed, attempting to seem unbothered, but his jaw was too tense.
“It was as if we’d expected Lestat to disappear in a puff of smoke or get sucked into hell.” Louis continued as he threaded his fingers together.
Daniel narrowed his eyes. “So, what did you do with it?”
Louis’ face went stoic as he answered. “We wrapped him in a carpet; we threw him in a trunk and left him out with the garbage. We got in our car and drove away, headed straight for the port.”
“The boat for Havana?” Daniel asked.
“Another boat, a merchant vessel, newly christened and head for Europe.” Louis told him.
Danile looked at him in realization. “The boat you bought Anderson. A shipload of coffins for cargo.”
Louis nodded. “Plenty of cover for a couple of stowaways, read to begin the adventure of their lives.”
Daniel sat back and stared at him, “Well, isn’t that neat and tidy?” he said almost sarcastically.
Louis looked at him seriously. “There was a ship, we did get on it.”
I watched the scene unfold as I crossed my legs and wrapped my arms around myself. The air was growing tense and uncomfortable, but I needed to stay. The tension was stifling as Rashid was growing tenser as the conversation continued.
Daniel nodded. “Yeah, I read that... the first 50 pages. Not exactly the, uh, adventure of our lives feeling I’m feeling.” Daniel pushed.
Louis almost seemed offensive. “It was a traumatic escape.”
“Yeah, but she didn’t say that explicitly, I mean maybe in some of the pages that got torn out. Well, not torn out exactly. More like with a ruler.” Daniel was poking something he shouldn’t be. Daniel looked down at some of the books and papers. “But um... there’s a feeling that she hated your guts there for a while...” Daniel looked up at Louis. “Why is that?”
Louis’ face grew tight as he started to defend himself. “I was haunted by my brother’s death, by the abandonment of my sister, by the murder of Lestat, I -”
Daniel’s brow scrunched together. “Murder? What murder?” Louis looked at him in confusion. “It was an act of mercy” Louis looked more confused as Daniel continued to press the discrepancy. “You didn’t kill Lestat, you spared him. Out of some fucked up idea you had about love.”
Louis shook his head while scoffing a sarcastic breath. “Love? I bled him like a pig and waited for the death rattle.” He emphasized.
Daniel shook his head and sat forward. “You were shot point blank by an Alderman. You were dropped a thousand feet and survived.” Louis barely twitched at the mention. “You torched Antoinette just to make sure.”
There was a beat of silence. Daniel grew serious. “Where does the trash go, Louis?”
I tensed up more as the wound was exposed. Louis was silent.
“You take the trash down to the street and some guys show up in a truck and they throw it in the back and then they drive it out to the middle of nowhere, right?” Daniel asked rhetorically. “No, they take the trash to the dump.” Daniel tilted his head as I started to feel like the room was enclosing on me.
“And having lived 2 blocks away from the dump just outside of Fishkill, New York, with my first wife. I can state, with authority, what else you’ll find there. Rats. Big fucking rats, the size of Kevin Durant’s sneakers. Enough blood in them to bring back the dead. Especially one in a trunk with locks on the inside.”
Louis didn’t answer, his breathing was picking up as I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked over to see Rashid stand up.
Daniel started to smile a smug grin. “You knew it, Louis. You had to.” Louis stared at him down as he picked his skin around his fingernails. “The biggest rat-eater of them all.”
Rashid moved to stand at Louis’ shoulder. “This session is over.” Not realizing that’s invited Daniel to pick on him now.
I stayed silent, not wanting to get involved. Daniel sat up to look at Rashid. “How many days in the Islamic Year? How many names are there for Allah?”
Rashid stared him down. “355 and 99.”
Daniel continued. “Why does a 200-pound bouncer pass out after he sucks him off” he gestured to Louis, “and you, a wet t-shirt away from 130, doesn’t even blink?”
Louis was growing more distressed.
I started to pick at my fingernails, growing nervous at the situation. I lifted a hand to my mouth as my jaw tensed and unclenched in anxiety.
Louis shook his head. “I couldn’t burn him.”
Daniel looked back at Louis. “But Claudia could.”
Louis instantly denied. “No, she couldn’t”
Daniel leaned forward. “She stuck a pen in his neck. She recorded his last words in his own blood.” He picked up a notebook and held it out to Louis. “The girl did not have a fucking problem tossing him on the grill, okay?”
Louis’ eyes zoned out as he thought over the memory. Clenching his jaw, he rushed from the couch and speed walked into the room with Daniel following. Rashid following close behind.
“Was it raining, Louis?” Daniel taunted. I rushed to stand up and follow, seeing them walk into the Tree Room.

Summary: Wanda gets home from a tiring mission to a very snuggly reader who missed her.
Wanda’s Pov
I had just gotten home from a tiring mission that involved a lot of heavy lifting. Everything went fine but I had to pick up a lot of heavy things with my fingers and I know It may seem like nothing but not only does that take a lot out of me physically but mentally as well. All I wanted was to cuddle up with you. I had some making up to do after how early I left you this morning for said mission.
When I walked through the door of our apartment. I saw you lying on the sofa in the living room wearing my favorite burgundy hoodie with white and gray stripes on the sleeves. You also happened to have on my favorite gray sweatpants to match. You loved wearing my clothes, you said it made you feel closer to me which I thought was so utterly precious.
As I approached you I saw our pet cat (Someone should name the cat) jump off your lap to come and greet me. “Hi sweet girl, did you watch over your mama hmm,” I said bending down to pet the fluffy cat that by the looks of it had been given just one too many treats. I heard TV playing so I looked up to see that you were watching my favorite sitcom “The dick van dyke show.” Before we started dating you had no interest in sitcoms and said that they were too “cheesy” but with a lot of convincing, I got you to watch one episode with me and from then on you've been hooked. I might even go as far as to say you liked them more than me. When I walked closer towards you I saw you had dried tears running down your face.
My heart broke at the sight. You had always taken it hard when I had to leave you alone for anything. Whether that be a mission or just to go to the bathroom you hated when I left you by yourself; If you could be with me then you were and to be honest I had no problem with that. Deciding that I was no longer going to make you go through the torture of my skin not being on yours. I reach down and place a hand on your cheek with a soft kiss on your forehead. “Detka…detka love wake up im home.”
That was enough to wake you up. You were never a deep sleeper unless I was sleeping with you, you could sleep almost anything then. It was something about me being close to you that made you feel safe you once said that time I asked. You opened your eyes, squinting a little to adjust to the light.
As soon as you noticed that it was me, you immediately jumped up from your place on the sofa and wrapped your arms around my neck and legs around my waist. “You're home, I missed you!” You exclaimed a smile taking over your face, erasing any evidence of the tears that once took that smile's place. “Yes I am home and I missed you, more sweet girl,” I said while placing my arms under your thighs making sure you wouldn’t fall as I made my way over to sit in the chair that was in the corner by the TV. “How was the mission? Are you hurt or anything?” You asked while checking me over. “No no I'm fine don’t worry love, the mission went well. I'm tired but okay I promise.” I say holding out my pinky finger knowing that pinky promising would be the only way to ease your anxiety.
“What about you hm? How are you, what'd you do while I was gone?” I asked you to bring your head to my chest. “I didn’t do much. Just watched TV, took a nap, and waited for you.” You said looking up at me with your y/e/c eyes through your lashes. “Mm that sounds peaceful, how about we continue that minus the waiting for me of course after lunch? Have you eaten yet?” “No, I haven’t, I was trying to wait for you.” You reply. “Okay let's go have some lunch and then we’ll continue your amazing peaceful day. How does that sound?” I asked, looking down at you in my lap. You nodded up at me. “Sounds good.”
With that, I stand up off the chair with you still in my arms kola style not even thinking about having you let go knowing that would just upset you. It was a task making us lunch with you in my arms but not impossible. We make our way to the dining room table with you holding one plate and me holding the other.
I set you down in your usual seat that is straight across from mine. I picked up my fork ready to dig into the Caesar salads I prepared for lunch when I noticed you were pouting and not even attempting to start eating. “What’s wrong with love?” I asked you with patience in my voice. You look up with the face you do anytime you want something. “Can I sit in your lap and eat please?” I look at you with nothing but love on my face. “Of course, you can love to get over here,” I say while pushing my chair back to make room for you. You clamber in my lap already with your frown turned right side up making it into a smile digging into your lunch. When we finish lunch I get you off my lap so I can put our dishes in the sink to be washed later. I then grab your hand so that we can head upstairs to finish the rest of our day with cuddles.
When we get to our room I head off into the closet so that I can change into something more comfortable. While taking off my shirt, I feel you come up behind me and wrap your arms around my waist. “What are you doing lovely?” I ask, sounding muffled because of the shirt covering my face. “Um, I have an idea.” I hear you sound nervous. “Oh yeah and what’s that?” I ask while taking my shirt off completely. “Do you think we could cuddle naked? I just really wanna feel your skin on mine.” I look down at you and say. “I would love to cuddle naked with you.” We both walk over to the bed while taking off our clothes on the way. When we reach the bed we get under the covers. I bring you into my chest and within minutes you're asleep. I gently kiss your forehead “You will forever be my snuggle bug.” I say then drift off to sleep myself without a thought or worry.

As Ayato climbed on top of you, you hooked one of your arms around his neck, your free hand gripping his collar and pulling him down closer. He let out a quiet groan into your mouth. He wanted to go farther tonight, you could tell. He had you pressed down against your shared bed and was fully on top of you, kissing you deeply. He pulled away and looked at you, his pupils dilated. “Ayato...” you said, looking at him nervously. “I know you’re not ready to go all the way. But let Yours Truly make you feel good.” You nodded and touched his face. Ayato grinnned and leaned down to kiss you again. You melted into the kiss and ran your fingers through Ayato’s hair. Ayato helped you take off your shirt and you helped him take off his. He then unhooked your bra and admired your breasts. You looked away shyly, resisting the urge to cover your chest. “What, you think I’m not gonna like them? As long as they’re your boobs, I’ll love them!” You couldn’t help but burst into laughter at his words. Ayato gave you a childlike pout at being laughed at. His face then became more serious, he leaned down and kissed your cheek, resting his hand above your breasts, but not actually touching it. “Can I...?” Ayato asked. You , taking nodded. Ayato fondled them with both hands, looking like a kid in a toy shop. At first the unfamiliar sensation was weird and awkward, but as your body relaxed it started to feel good. “Mm...Ayato...” you moaned quietly. Ayato grinned at you, his ego swelling from you moaning his name. “You’ll be screaming my name in a minute. Everyone will hear you belong to Yours Truly?” “Huh-?” You blinked, blushing. Ayato started to pull down your pants. You laid back and let him, taking the time to admire how amazing he looked shirtless, with his toned chest and lean yet athletic figure. He slid his hand down into your underwear and began to rub. You let out a whimper and bit your fist. “Don’t hide your moans. I want to hear how good I’m making you feel.” You felt a finger enter you and you moaned, arching up. “That’s what Yours Truly wants!” The pleasure blurred your senses and you hardly noticed Ayato had pulled down your underwear. He laid down beside you, still pleasuring you. You touched all over his firm chest. “Jerk me off while I finger you.” Ayato said. You obeyed with little hesitation, helping Ayato free his member. He wrapped your hand around his shaft and moved it up and down his length, then returned to fingering you. You moaned, subconsciously spreading your legs wider. Ayato’s cheeks were pink and his breathing was shallow as you pumped his member with your hand. “Am I...doing it well?” “Fuck yeah, I feel great.” Ayato was an impatient man. He wanted to see you cum, feel it on his hands, hear your beautiful cries and watch your face twist with pleasure. He pumped faster his faster and you gasped, writhing and moaning. He repeatedly hit a sweet spot and you finally orgasmed, moaning loudly. You slumped back against the bed, exhausted. “Yours Truly is pretty good, huh?” You giggled. “Yeah.” You curled your fingers around Ayato’s shaft again and held it in a firm grip, moving your hand up and down. You saw his eyes cloud with lust before he closed them. “Fuck...” He twitched in your hand and then tensed and groaned, reaching his climax. After cleaning up he held your naked body in his arms. “I can’t wait to make you cum again.” You chuckled, shaking your head. He could be so adorable at times. He kissed the top of your head. “I love you.” “I love you too, Ayato.”

A/N: Requested by quite a few people, like a really long time ago and I finally finished it... well here is part two to “Klaus’s Daughter”
Part One
~Y/N’s POV~
A faint beeping is the first noise I hear followed by a rush of other noises, people chattering, crying, yelling, doors opening and shutting.
‘Where am I?’ I slowly open my eyes and let out a soft groan before closing them again. It’s to bright, my brain feels like it’s full of cotton. I hear a door open closer to me and foot steps. I open my eyes again more slowly this time and see dad walking towards me. I smile softly and open my mouth to talk but I begin to cough violently, my throat screaming at me from dryness. Dad startles a bit before rushing to me.
“Easy darling, you’re pretty banged up” I stop coughing and feel something cool being pressed into my hands, I look down to see some water and slowly lift it up to my lips and drink some.
“Dad what happened?” I look to him and see anger flash across is face. “Rebekah attached you while my dear brother Elijah held me back.”
I wince as the memory comes flooding back to me and I feel tears building in my eyes. “How could they do that to me dad?” I whimper as he envelopes me in a hug and shushes me. “They didn't know who you were love, they would have never done that to you had they known you were my daughter.”
I open my mouth to talk but I’m interrupted by the door opening making me jump in fright. A nurse peers in and smiles gently “Mr. Mikaelson there is a phone call for you.” Dad frowns and gets up sighing. “I’ll be right back okay darling?” I smile and nod before laying back and resting my eyes from the brightness of the room.
~Klaus’s POV~
I feel frustration build as I glance at Y/N’s room, she just woke up I want to be there for her not attending to something as trivial as a phone call from one of my subordinates. I glare at the phone and hang it up and turn to go back to Y/N’s room when I see Elijah and Rebekah coming around the corner.
I feel rage bubble up inside me as I furiously walk over to them. “What did I say to you!?! I told you to stay the fuck away!” I glare at them. Rebekah winces and turns her gaze to the floor while Elijah straightens up and clears his throat.
“We’ve come to make amends Klaus, we did not know you had a daughter and had we known you know we would have never hurt her.”
I can feel all my frustration and anger bubbling over as I growl and get right in Elijah’s face “You and Rebekah are to never come near my daughter again! My threat from before still stands.”
Elijah glares back “Klaus your being unreasonable it was a mistake!”
“Rebekah almost killed her! You watched and held me back as our sister almost killed my daughter!”
Regret flashes across Elijah's face, he opens his mouth to speak again but he’s cut off by a scream coming from Y/N’s room and its now that I notice Rebekah is gone.
~Y/N POV~
I must have fallen asleep because the next moment I’m startled awake by yelling, Dad yelling to be precise. I can’t hear much of what he is saying, I slowly sit up with difficulty, my broken arm tightly held in a sling. I stand and wince in pain and start moving towards the door. Before I can reach the door it swings open and Rebekah is in the doorway. Pure terror runs through my veins as I stumble backwards with a pitiful cry. “No please go away!” I yell out as I stumble and fall backwards hitting my broken arm on the floor and crying out in pain. Rebekah seems frozen in the door way as I scoot back into a corner shaking. My vision has black dots dancing in it and I feel my breathing becoming short and constricting. ‘I can’t breath!’ I gasp for air as dad rushes into the room pushing Rebekah out of the way as he rushes to me and pulls me into his arms and soothingly shushes me and holds me tight. I don’t even notice Rebekah being pulled away by Elijah as a few nurses bustle into the room asking them to leave. I cling to father and gasp for air feeling fear, pain and sadness gripping me before my vision goes black and I don’t feel anything anymore.
~~~~~~
The next I awake dad is no longer in the room but a note is sitting on the bedside table. I gently pick it up and read the words on it. ‘Y/N darling I’m so sorry something came up and I need to deal with the subordinates, I’ll be back as soon as possible. With love, dad.’ I smile and begin to sit up feeling every ache and spasm of pain as I move. I groan and lean against my pillows breathing out slowly to wait for the pain to subside. I close my eyes and breath in and out. Faintly I hear the door open and expecting a nurse I smile and glance up. I feel my smile fade as I see it is not a nurse who entered my room.
~Elijah’s POV~
I feel nervous as I enter the hospital, not something I feel often but in this case it can’t be helped. Family means everything to me and knowing that Rebekah and myself harmed a family member, a mortal one at that just doesn't sit right with me. I make it to her room and can hear movement as I open the door just as Y/N settles against the pillows and groans in pain. I wince and feel guilt build up as I see just how bruised and beat up she looks.
She must have heard the door open and close because she looks up with a gentle smile on her face, so different from Klaus’ malicious smiles that are always present. Her smile quickly fades from her face as she see’s me, no doubt expecting a nurse or doctor instead of one of her attackers. I open my mouth to speak and I shuffle a bit closer. Before I can even get a word in she grips her blankets tightly in her hands and glares at me. “Please go away” She speaks softly yet firmly.
I shift from one foot to the other and sigh “I just want to talk.” I try to say but she shakes her head and snaps “I don’t want to talk to you! I don’t want to see you either so please leave before I call the nurses.” I look down as sadness fills me, and not for the first time I’m glad I did not allow Rebekah to come with me, she would not have been able to deal with the pain Y/N is in. “I’m terribly sorry for what we did to you, we would have never done that had we known you were our niece.”
She glares harder at me and her hands shake a bit with the grip she has on her blanket “So it would have been fine if I wasn't family! If I had just been a friend of my dad’s you would have been perfectly fine with almost killing me!? Does a human’s life really mean so little to you?” I see tears build in her eyes as she continues to glare at me “Leave now and don’t come back!” She says and I sigh before reaching into my pocket to grab a card with my number on it. “I’ll leave, but please if anything ever happens or you need help don’t hesitate to call, I’ll be there. I’m so sorry” I say as I place the card on the side table and turn around, leaving the room and my niece. I close the door and hear faint sniffling and realize that she’s crying, again I feel the guilt begin to bubble over finally realizing just how much we hurt her.
~Y/N’s POV~
After Elijah left I feel all my anger and fear melt away and in it’s place I feel sadness and heartbreak. I lay down and feel the tears glide down my cheeks and sniffle to keep the sobs at bay. I don’t want to forgive them but I’ve always dreamt of meeting the rest of my family. I pick up the card Elijah left me and feel frustration build as I go to rip it but I stop and sigh before placing the card in my pocket along with my phone. I lay for a while and let my mind wander and think. ‘Maybe I should give them another chance, a very tentative second chance and see what kind of relationship we can build. They won’t have my trust, not for a very long time but I always did believe in second chances.’ I groan in frustration and roll over to my side before feeling my eyes grow heavy and sleep approaching me.
I open my eyes and feel like hours have passed. I hear a noise, a faint clicking as my door opens. I glance up and see a nurse enter my room, I smile and sit up with difficulty. She smiles at me, but something in her smile makes mine fall away. Her smile is not a kind smile, she walks closer to me and I feel fear course through me as my pulse quickens. She reaches me as I shuffle away and reach for the call button but before I can press it I feel her tug me away and a cloth cover my mouth and nose. I cry out but it’s muffled behind the cloth and I struggle in her hold. I know what is happening and I can’t do anything about it, in a desperate attempt to get free I swing my good arm back and feel my hand connect with the nurses face. She cries out but holds me tight till blackness creeps around the edges of my vision, everything slowly getting darker. As I lose consciousness I faintly hear the nurse as she pulls the cloth from my mouth. “I’ve got the half-breed, where do we meet?”
~Rebekah’s POV~
Elijah paces the floor in front of me, from the tension in his shoulders the visit at the hospital did not go well. I sigh and lean back in the chair. “Elijah stop pacing! You’re giving me a headache! What happened anyway?” I ask as he stops and sits heavily on the couch. “She doesn't want anything to do with us, I can only hope that she’ll change her mind eventually and give us another chance to be in her life.”
Just as I’m about to reply his phone starts to ring, I feel annoyed at being interrupted but the look on his face prevents me from saying anything. As he answers the phone I can hear everything on the other line, a faint sobbing and harsh breathing. I feel myself freeze when I hear Y/N’s voice.
“Elijah?” Y/N whispers quietly.
Elijah stands up quickly. “Y/N? What's wrong? Has something happened?”
Her sobbing gets a bit louder as she tries to whisper “Someone’s taken me, I don’t know where I am and I can’t get a hold of dad!” She cries out and I’m by Elijah’s side before he could even blink. I grab the phone from him and press it to my ear. “Y/N what do you remember? Did you see who took you, what do you see around you? Anything that can help us find you!” I say in a rush.
She sniffles and replies. “I’m in the trunk of a car, it was a nurse. She has blonde hair and brown eyes, she had a beauty mark below her nose. She drugged me and I woke up here. I tried to call dad but he wasn't answering and I had Elijah’s card with his number so I called him.” She said between hiccupped sobs.
I feel anger course though my veins that someone would kidnap her. Before I can say anything I hear the car she’s in screech to a halt and a door opening. Y/n’s breathing picks up and she starts mumbling “No no no, please no, Rebekah please help me” I hear her let out a startled scream as the trunk opens up and she sobs and begs whoever it is to leave her alone.
Y/N must have hidden the phone before whoever it is that’s taken her opened the trunk as the phones still connected and hasn't been taken away from her. I hear laughter as the woman who has taken Y/n begins talking. “Shut up half-breed! We’ve reached my sisters and you're going to be the final stage of our ritual! Don't make me knock you out again!”
I hiss is anger “Witches!? Are you serious right now? When will they learn not to mess with our family!”
Elijah shakes in anger and clenches his teeth “They will regret the the day they even thought of using our niece as a sacrifice” He says with pure hatred in his voice.
~Y/N’s POV~
The ropes binding my arms behind my back dig painfully into my wrists. My arm rebroken and screaming in pain. The witches around me are chanting and the wind is swirling around me making my hair fly around my face and the grass to sway violently around the graves of the cemetery I've been brought to. I shiver in fear and hope that whatever the witches are planning to use me for ends me quickly and painlessly.
Dark clouds start to roll over the cemetery and thunder rolls ominously overhead. I can feel a coldness start to settle over me and my lungs constrict painfully, my breath clouds in front of me as I breath out painfully. The witches chant gets louder as fog starts to form around the grave I’m bound before, a misty figure starts to emerge from the fog. I glance at the headstone of the grave hopeful of a clue as to what the witches are trying to do, the headstone has long since faded and no writing legible on it, it looks ancient. As the figure glides closer to me I feel the painful squeeze in my lungs get worse. I gasp for air that won’t enter my lungs. The figure is extending its ghostly hand towards me as the witches chant around me starts to get fainter.
I feel dread pool in my stomach as the figure brushes its fingers against my cheek and my vision starts to fade to darkness. ‘I really need to stop getting knocked unconscious’ I absently think to myself. Distantly I hear one of the witches closest to me scream in pain and the sound of bones breaking, closely followed by a chilling shriek. I feel a small smile form on my lips. “Rebekah.... Elijah” I whisper before darkness finally takes me.
~Elijah’s POV~
Reaching the cemetery closest to where Y/N’s cellphone was able to last trace to I hear chanting coming from within. Rebekah glances at me and nods once before disappearing, I follow but head in the opposite direction as her to better surround the witches. As I get to the clearing I feel something I haven't felt in centuries, fear. There Y/N is bound on the ground with some kind of wraith reaching out for her, reaching to take my niece! The witches are chanting frantically and I know we have to stop them from completing whatever it is they are doing. The witch closest to Y/N screams in pain as Rebekah appears behind her and breaks her spine. There is an unearthly shriek before the wraith is slowly dragged back to it’s grave. The witches scream in anger and I feel amusement cloud over me when I see them start to panic when they notice Rebekah.
I quickly appear at the closest witch and grasp her neck and twist violently to the side, I feel vindictive glee as her heart stops beating. The next one is already trying to get away but I grab her my the neck and throw her against the closest gravestone and the scent of her blood splattered against the gravestone is satisfying.
I look over to see Rebekah tearing the arms off one of the witches that was a little to close to Y/N for my liking, distantly I realize it’s the witch that took Y/N from the hospital and feel delight at her painful death. I quickly dispose of the witch in front of me by ripping her heart out, I rush over to Y/N and pick her up into my arms as Rebekah finishes off the last of the witches. I quickly leave the graveyard wanting to put as much distance between us and the carnage Rebekah and I left behind at the cemetery.
Rebekah makes it to my side and she takes a long glance at Y/N in my arms then she sighs “Klaus is going to kill us” She says as we start making our way to his house. I tighten my grip on Y/N relieved she’s okay. “Let’s just get her back home.” I finally reply.
~Y/N’s POV~
When I regain consciousness, once again, I hear my dad roaring in anger as I'm roughly pulled into someone's arms. I gasp at the pain it causes to my broken arm. The arms wrapped around me loosen a bit and I hear the venom in my dad’s voice as he’s talking to someone. “What have you two done now?!?” Dad hisses and I furrow my brows trying to figure out who he’s talking to.
“Klaus it’s not what it looks like, really if you’d only let us explain what happened you’d be more likely to thank us then spit venom at us.”
‘I know that voice’ I think hard trying to place the voice when everything starts rushing back, my eyes fly open and I look over seeing Elijah and Rebekah. I try sitting up from the arms holding me when they tighten their hold on me a bit. “Y/N darling what happened?” I hear dad say and I realize it’s his arms wrapped around me.
I feel my eyes misting a bit as I look up at dad. “Some witches kidnapped me from the hospital and I couldn’t get ahold of you so I called uncle Elijah for help and him and aunt Rebekah saved me from some kind of ritual, it was awful dad! There was some kind of thing coming out of a grave and I felt like I was freezing to death while all the air was being sucked out of my body! I thought I was going to die and that I’d never see you again” I ramble feeling my chest tighten and my breathing pick up a bit, I stop talking before I end up having a panic attack. I hug dad tightly and whisper even though I know everyone else can hear. “I was so scared dad”
I feel his arms wrap around me hugging me tightly back “It’s a good thing your aunt and uncle found you then darling.” He whispered back and I smiled into his shirt when I heard Elijah comment to Rebekah .“Well I guess this means Klaus isn’t going to kill us after all.”
Summary: Normally two Mandalorians working together wasn't a good idea, but sometimes you're forced to make it work; and sometimes you want it to work.
It had been months since you had seen another Mandalorian. It was better for only a few hunters to work at a time, so they hardly crossed paths during a mission. That's why when a Mandalorian showed up in your town, word got around fast.
You had just picked up a bounty puck from an old friend of yours when a group of chattering droids wandered into the cantina. You twiddled your thumbs as they gossiped away, giving you all the information you needed. You could almost laugh at the stupidity of droids. They didn't know or care about what they could be giving away.
You slid your drink down the counter for someone else to enjoy. Normally, you'd take one back to your ship, but this couldn't be one of those times. You had work to do and a bounty hunter to find.
You walked down the street looking for the one person you knew that couldn't resist telling you everything; Even if it was for a price. As you passed by children playing in the streets, their mothers rounded them inside as quickly as they could. They knew your reputation, and though you would never hurt a youngling, it was probably best they stay out of your way. They watched curiously behind their mothers until you had passed their dwelling.
"If it isn't old Wrist Rocket!" Jung Powell's voice rang out signaling you had reached your destination. He called you that because a small missile launcher on your wrist was the only piece of pure beskar you had. It stood out, hence him picking it to distinguish you from other Mandalorians.
He emerged from his workshop and walked over to you. "Here to ask about the new Mando in town, eh?"
"Where are they?" You asked simply.
Jung laughed and squashed a bug underneath his foot. He was always easily distracted. "You know I like ya," he smiled. "But payment's been kind of high this month. Y'know how it is--"
"Fine. I'll get you a payment," you interrupted.
He chuckled and crossed all four of his green arms. "That's why I like you, but it's a bit different this time." You withheld a breath. If Jung wanted you to do something different, it was never good.
"I don't have time to chase down the people you squabble with," you argued.
"It's not a squabble," he countered. "He owes me money, and he won't pay up."
"So, a squabble," you huffed.
He waved two of his hands dismissively. "Ok, call it what you want. The point is I'm not very intimidating--"
"You don't say."
"But if you so much as walk in the door, he'll be at your feet with the money. I just know it." You took a moment to weigh out the options. It was just a simple debt collection. You figured it would be an easy job. Just get it over with and find the other Mandalorian.
"Fine," you agreed. "Who owes you?"
"Don't know if you've heard of him. His name's Kole. Never gave a me a last name, but he doesn't live far away."
He gave you the directions to your target, and you went quickly on your way. You needed to get this job over with so you could get the information you needed about the Mandalorian. You were almost jogging down the streets as you relayed the directions in your head. Left. Right. Left again. You stopped your mental GPS when you heard some kind of commotion. You took a deep breath. It was where your target supposedly was.
You armed the rocket on your wrist and slowly walked into the building. A man dropped at your feet and you instinctively aimed at him. He wasn't moving. You kicked his arm to make sure it was safe to continue.
"Who are you?" A voice made you whip around. Standing only a few feet from you was a Mandalorian decked out in full beskar armor. Every system in your body froze, and you had to remind yourself to breathe.
"You're a Mandalorian," you commented, ignoring his question.
"So are you," he added. He took a step towards you and you pulled out your blaster. He raised his hands slightly, but he didn't step back.
"What are you doing here?" you questioned.
"I'm just passing through," he answered. "I didn't know...I thought all the other Mandalorians were dead." You were glad the helmet you wore concealed the shock on your face. Either he was a lunatic or something terrible at happened.
"Why would you think that?" you asked.
He kept a hand raised as he crouched down at the man at your feet. "Because they all died," he quipped. You didn't quite know how to process what he was saying. You hadn't gone back to Mandalore in years, so it wasn't impossible that he was telling the truth. Still, you refused to believe that they were all gone.
He pulled something out of the mans pocket and stepped back once more. "What is that?" you questioned. The only reason you could trust him was the fact that he was a Mandalorian, and at the moment, that wasn't enough.
He crushed the device in his hand, making you wonder what it was even more. "Broken," he responded simply.
You rolled your eyes though he couldn't see it. "You better start talking, because this is my town. I'm not letting another Mandalorian put me out of my job here.
"I'm not here to take your job," he assured you. "I just came for him." He gestured to the unmoving man that was still at your feet. You figured by now that it was Kole. Your target.
"He was my job," you growled. He still hadn't told you why he was there or how the other Mandalorians had died. He wasn't telling you anything, and it frustrated you to no end.
"Well," he sighed. "You better hope your employer will take him in cold." He tried to walk by you and you were quick to block him.
"Move," he ordered.
"Not until you give me answers," you insisted.
"I was going to," he said. "Back at my ship."
"I'm perfectly fine discussing this here," you said pointedly.
"I'm not." He changed his approach, realizing that he wasn't getting through to you. "Believe me, I'm not going anywhere. I've been looking for another Mandalorian for a while. I just need to get something."
You both stared at each other as if you could read the other's expression through the helmets. That was always a problem with Mandalorians. They couldn't communicate without getting physical. The longer you stood there the heavier the tension in the air became.
A squeal interrupted your stare-down, and before you knew it, your blaster was aimed in the direction of the sound.
"Don't!" The Mandalorian cried. You took a moment to take in what exactly you were looking at. A small green creature with abnormally large ears was standing on a counter not far off.
"How did that get in here?" you demanded.
The Mandalorian rushed over to the creature and gingerly picked it up. "I don't know," he huffed. Then to the child he added, "I thought I told you to stay on the ship." It cooed in response and held it's hand out toward you. You still had your blaster raised, so you lowered it slowly and stared at it's three little fingers.
"What does it want?" you asked. Instead of responding, he put the child down on the ground, and it stumbled in it's oversized coat towards you. You tensed up as it got closer.
"What does it want?" you repeated with more urgency. The kid reached your feet and grabbed on to one of your legs. You froze, so you didn't hurt it by moving.
"Don't hurt him, he's just a kid," The Mandalorian said.
"I wasn't planning on it, but you need to get it off of me!" You raised the boot with the creature on it so he could take it off. He set it back on the ground, and it immediately started making it's way back to you. He picked it up with a warning and didn't put it down again.
"That's not....your kid---"
"No," he interrupted. "I just found him."
"A foundling," you whispered as you stepped towards the child.
The Mandalorian instinctively stepped back. "Yes. I've been keeping him safe."
"Hence my target being dead at my feet," you guessed.
He nodded. "Are you a guild member?"
"No, I get my targets from locals," you explained. "Something I intend to keep doing, so you and your foundling might want to make yourselves disappear."
"We're not here to ruin your business."
"You being here is ruining my business," you pointed out. "Right now, I get plenty of jobs. Why shouldn't I? I am the only Mandalorian in this town after all. Add another in the mix? eventually we'll be either splitting the load, or fighting for the best offer."
"I'm not here for the jobs," he said. "If I needed jobs, I could go anywhere. Like I said, the Mandalorians are gone. People will hire anyone. All you need is the armor."
"Speaking of," you said with a nod towards his armor. "You've got a pretty good set. What are the odds of the Mandalorians being wiped out and a single man making it out with full beskar armor? I'd guess pretty slim. Unless of course he helped kill a few so he could keep the spoils."
"I got this armor before they all died," he informed. "High paying customer."
"Must've been quite a bounty."
"Still is," he looked at the kid in his arms. "That's why I have to keep him safe."
You paused to take in what he had said. "That was the bounty?"
"If you lay a finger on him--"
"I'm not interested in the money," you snapped. "I just want to know how you got paid and still got to keep him."
"It's complicated."
You looked back and forth between him and the kid. "Alright. I don't care. Just get what you came for and get off my planet."
***
It had been days since your Mandalorian encounter and he still hadn't left. You would see him around town every now and again, and he was always with that kid. He insisted he was leaving, but he never did. It made you anxious. In just the few days he had been there he had stirred everyone up. You couldn't imagine what would happen if he never left.
You sat on the edge of a rock on the outskirts of your town. He claimed he had his ship parked somewhere around there. You wanted to check it out, but you weren't in any hurry. It was nice to be able to take in the scenery for a moment. You stood and took a deep breath. Calming down for a second was just what you needed. This Mandalorian had you worked up for nothing.
You turned around and froze when you saw the Mandalorian's kid standing right in front of you. For some reason, he always made an effort to find you. You liked to think the Mandalorian told it to, just to get on your nerves.
"Go back to the Mandalorian," you ordered. It titled it's head and continued to stare at you. "The other Mandalorian." It stayed.
"Look, kid, I'm not babysitting you. Go back to the Mandalorian that takes care of you, cause it certainly isn't me." Finally, he started walking. Unfortunately for him, he was walking straight towards the edge of the cliff. You put your foot in it's path and it looked up at you.
"Try the other way," you instructed. You nudged it with your foot away from the edge. It paused there for a moment, then turned around and headed for the edge again. You sighed and picked it up by the back of it's cloak. You really didn't want to touch it at all, but you couldn't leave it to wander off the cliff like that. You held it away from you as you continued to trek through the rocky area. Either you'd find his ship or you'd take the creature back to him directly.
A few moments later you saw smoke rising in the sky. There was nothing in that area for miles. The perfect place to land a ship. You picked up the pace, hoping that it was the ship you were looking for. Sure enough in the middle of the clearing was a broken down ship that looked like it used to be a Razor Crest.
"Please tell me that isn't his ship," you said to the child. It only gurgled in response. You set it down now that it couldn't wander off an edge somewhere, and it started walking to the ship. No wonder that Mandalorian was still there. He hardly had a ship to fly back on.
"Hey!" The Mandalorian came up behind you. "What are you doing?" he demanded.
"You intend to fly back on that?" you remarked. "That wouldn't make it off the ground, much less the planet."
"You think I don't know that?" he huffed. "That's why I've been repairing it these past few days. Don't worry. The kid and I will be out of your little town in no time." He stopped the kid halfway to the ship and carried him the rest of the way. You decided to follow, curious about the inside. You followed the Mandalorian up the ramp and took a quick look around the ship. It didn't take long since it was so small and cramped. You couldn't imagine living in it.
"Are you done with your little tour?" he grumbled when you had made it back to the ramp.
You shrugged. "If you don't want me to look around your ship, you should've had it off the planet."
"Unless you have a spare parked in a garage somewhere, that's not going to happen just yet."
"It might be easier if you didn't have a kid to look after," you pointed out.
"It's not that difficult."
"Oh really?" you smirked. "Is that why I found it about to wander off a cliff?"
You could see him tense beneath his beskar armor. "What?" he said testily.
You walked off the ship with a last comment over your shoulder. "I'll let you get back to work."
You sat outside the cantina with Jung Powell talking business. He always bought you a drink thought he knew you couldn't remove your helmet. He probably did it as a temptation to break your code, but it would never work. Instead he would just drink yours as well as his.
"You did great with the money Kole owed me," he was saying. "But you killing him gave a lot of people cold feet y'know."
You tilted your head slightly. "What about you?"
He reached forward to grab the cup in front of you. "I understand it was all in a day's work," he said through a chuckle. He emptied the glass in one gulp and slammed the cup back on the table. "So, if you're looking for another job, I'm the one to talk to."
"That's why I'm here," you said.
"This one's a bit different--"
"With how often you say that, it's starting to become expected."
"Right, I get that, but this really is something else." He leaned over the table enough for you to smell his breath. "Are you up for a cargo run?"
You leaned back and shook your head. "I'm a bounty hunter, not a mail carrier."
"Not even if the mail includes a high paying customer?" he bribed. You stared at him as you considered the offer. It was almost impossible for you to give up a good payment, and you knew that Jung never let you down when it came to those.
"Where to?" you asked warily.
"A dwarf planet a couple systems away--"
"Off planet?" you interrupted. "No deal."
"Come on, wrist rocket, it's getting harder and harder to get deals that stay on planet," he whined.
"Maybe for you, but I have other sources." You stood up to leave and he was quick to tumble out of his chair and stop you.
"No, no, wait!" he cried. "I promise it's worth your time! Plenty of credits! Probably enough to get you more than just a wrist rocket!" You froze. You couldn't lie and say that it wasn't tempting. Deep down you knew it was because of the Mandalorian, but you didn't listen to yourself.
Instead you turned back to Jung. "What do I need to take and where?"
He smiled and rubbed two of his hands together. "Glad you're on board." He gave you your assignment and you walked away knowing you just made a big mistake. Madnalorians were true to their word. If you said you were going to do it, you have to see it through. Now you took up a job out of what? Spite? It was a terrible idea. However, you pushed the doubt out of your mind and looked towards your goal. The only thing you needed now was a way off the planet.
***
"You want me to do what?" The Mandalorian didn't sound thrilled about your offer.
"I'll give you a cut," you assured him. "I just need transportation off-planet."
"I'm not towing you around to whatever planet you want for a small tip."
"A small tip and the repairs you need to get that ship off the ground," you corrected.
"No thanks. I'll repair it myself." He walked back into his ship, not letting you respond. You stepped back to see his ship was still smoking and hissing and let out a frustrated breath. You knew you could fix it for him, but you wouldn't do it for charity. You weren't getting through to him though. You cut your losses and turned around to leave.
Something grabbed on to your leg and out of instinct, you tried to kick it off. You heard the Mandalorian's foundling squealing so you stopped and looked down. Once again, the creature was holding onto your boot with a iron grip. Normally you'd pry it off and send it on it's way, but as it looked up at you with it's big black eyes, you had an awful idea.
Warily, you began walking it back to the ship. You heard the Mandalorian in the the cockpit so you waited for him to come down. When he did come down and saw you with the creature, he froze.
"What are you doing with him?" he said. You could tell he was tense, and his hand was hovering closer and closer to his blaster.
"Your little foundling won't let go of me," you said with a smirk that he thankfully couldn't see. "I tried and tried, but he just won't budge."
"Sounds like a you problem," he said. You thought you heard a hint of humor, but he was far too concerned about his kid for you to tell.
"It is until I go off-planet to finish out this job, and because I couldn't get him away from me, he tags along. That sounds very much like a you problem," you teased.
The Mandalorian clenched his fists. He scooped the kid off your leg and placed him in his bed. He closed the door and turned back to you. "Leave the kid out of this."
"I can't help what it does--"
"You're not taking him with you." Now he was getting upset.
You felt the kid grab onto your boot again and without looking down at it you said, "I don't think I have a choice."
"How did you--" The Mandalorian tried to take him off again, but the kid stayed put. "C'mon kid, let go."
Nothing.
The Mandalorian tugged harder, but the kid squealed, causing him to stop. He looked from the creature to you. For a second, your stomach flipped at the idea that he might actually kill you just to get his kid back. You quickly pushed the thought aside. He wouldn't. It was against the code.
He stood there considering his options for a while before he finally mumbled, "You'd have to get it to fly."
You smiled and gently took the kid off your boot. "Thank you," you said as you handed it over.
He took it and brushed past you as he said, "Just one trip there and back. No more." That was fine by you. You got exactly what you needed. Now you had to get to work with the repairs.
***
You and the Mandalorian sat in the cockpit ready to test out the repaired ship. His kid sat in his lap since you were taking up it's usual spot, so he carefully reached around it to flip switches and press buttons. He had instructed you not to touch anything, then proceeded to unscrew a small lever and hand part of it to the kid.
"We just repaired this thing, and you think it's a good idea to take it apart for that thing's chew toy?" you inquired.
"I know what I'm doing," he snapped. He pulled up, and the whole ship rumbled beneath you. For a moment you weren't sure it would make it off the ground. Then, with a low creak, the ship rose and started cruising forward slowly but surely.
"Hold on," the Mandalorian instructed. He increased the speed and the ship let out a number of complaints. It started rumbling and shaking uncontrollably, and you grabbed onto the seat so you wouldn't get tossed around.
"What's happening?" you shouted over the noise of alarms and groaning metal.
"It'll stabilize once we break through the atmosphere!" he responded.
"If we make it that far!" you snapped. You looked over at the kid on his lap. He was smiling and bouncing like it was some kind of ride to him. Something you would've found funny if there wasn't a good chance that you would all plummet back to the ground. A few moments later, space came speeding into view and the alarms switched off. Then in a second everything went from chaotic to completely silent.
"Told you," the Mandalorian said. "Now we just cruise over to your dwarf planet. I don't think we'll be able to jump to hyperspace."
"What?" you said louder than you had planned. "That could take us days, and that's if we don't come across any obstacles!"
"You're the one who wanted a ride," he quipped as he leaned back in his chair. "If you change your mind, there's always the eject pods."
It took every cell in your body to maintain your composure. This wasn't even a mission you were particularly thrilled about going on, much less with this Mandalorian. You felt at times that the only thing keeping you both from each others throats was the Mandalorian code, but according to him, all the Mandalorians were dead. What validity was there to that pact?
The creature on his lap kept looking at you with it's huge, pitch-black eyes. You didn't know how to react. It was hard not to stare. It's eyes and ears were oversized, and it's layers of clothes made it look like it was in a squishy cocoon. It was kind of cute. You smiled at it, and though it couldn't see, it gurgled and smiled back.
"How old is it?" you asked. The Mandalorian seemed taken aback by the question. You were almost surprised yourself. You didn't care about the kid. You were just curious.
"I don't know," he said after a while. "Somewhere around 50?"
"Fifty?" you asked surprised.
"Well, he obviously ages slower than we do," he remarked. You looked over at the kid and he looked back at you with wide questioning eyes. The Mandalorian stood up with the kid in his arms, and went to the lower part of the ship. "I'll be right back. Don't touch anything!" His command echoed just far enough for you to hear him. You rolled your eyes and reclined in your seat. You might as well get comfortable.
You had been twiddling your thumbs for almost half an hour, and the Mandalorian still hadn't come back. It was irritating, especially since you couldn't do anything on his ship. It clearly wasn't meant to be a livable space. It was just meant for towing him across the galaxy.
You had thought about traveling beyond your planet before, and the longer you stayed the more you wanted to leave. You had heard that it's the spirit of a Mandalorian to travel from place to place, but you never tried. Now you looked out at the black of space littered with stars. It had been so long since you had seen it.
A small, quiet sound roused you from your thoughts. You turned your seat around to see the kid standing there and staring right at you. A small chuckle escaped your lips.
"What do I have to do to get you to stop following me?" you asked half-jokingly. He babbled as if he was actually trying to respond. He walked closer and raised his arms.
"Sorry, but I don't think your dad would want me picking you up," you warned. It insisted and walked even closer. You rolled your eyes. The Mandalorian didn't seem to be coming back soon anyway. You granted the child's wish and picked him up. You didn't set him on your lap, but rather held him a good distance away from you as if he was toxic.
"Are you seriously older than I am?" you whispered almost to yourself.
"Hey!" The Mandalorian's voice cut through the ships low hum and made you jump. You almost dropped the kid so you brought him closer to you by instinct. "What are you doing with the kid?"
"Your kid keeps coming to me!" you explained angrily. "Besides, he's fine." You held the creature out towards the Mandalorian like it was some dull object. He was quick to take it from you, and he sat back down in the pilot's seat. You needed to say something. Anything. You were getting tired of constantly being mad at each other. After all, you were supposedly the last two of your kind. It probably wasn't best to be fighting each other with every word.
"I don't even know what I'm supposed to call you," you mentioned. It was a sudden thought that you had. You currently didn't call him anything. The way you got each others attention was by yelling at the other. Definitely not a good way to end the fighting.
His head moved ever so slightly towards you. "I don't really..." He trailed off and a long moment of silence passed before he spoke up again. "Why don't you just...call me Mando?"
"Mando?" you inquired. "That derogatory nickname that almost every Mandalorian gets?"
"It's not a derogatory nickname. At least, not anymore," he corrected. "I don't have anything else in mind."
"Well, Mandalorians get their nicknames by what they look like or how they act," you pointed out. You looked him up and down. "I guess that would make you 'Beskar?'"
"And what would that make you? 'Not beskar?'" he retorted.
"Ha ha," you replied unenthusiastically. "I'm seriously just supposed to call you Mando?"
"Call me whatever you want," he concluded. "It's not like we're going to be seeing each other after I drop you off." You couldn't argue with that. You certainly didn't intend to see him again, and you were positive the feeling was mutual. You laid your head back against the seat. This was going to be a long trip.
***
Two days since you had left, the dwarf planet finally came into view. You were relieved to be so close to your destination. Of course, the trip wasn't as bad as you thought once you actually talked to Mando without bickering. If you didn't leave room for an argument, he hardly said anything, but the few things he said were actually worth something.
"That's the planet right?" he asked.
"It is," you confirmed. "Are you sure this thing is equipped to land?"
"I guess we'll find out in about five minutes," he replied as he flicked switches and pressed buttons.
"Ship 4119, this is landing pad 7. Do you have clearance to land?" A voice from the intercom made both of you freeze. A small hologram appeared with a symbol that made your blood turn cold. It was the crest of the Empire.
"This is an imperial trade?" Mando hissed under his breath.
"Dank farrik!" you growled. "I'll kill you, Powell."
"Ship 4119, are you reading me?" The voice pressed.
"What do we do?" you whispered.
"Four minutes 'til we land," he started. "We stall." He raised his voice so the person over the intercom could hear. "Yes, I have clearance, but there's some bad interference. Let me switch you over to another channel. Stand by." He switched off the intercom and turned towards you. "That should buy us about a minute."
"Only?" you asked incredulously.
"What did you expect dealing with the Empire?" he scolded.
"I didn't know it was the Empire," you defended weakly.
"We don't have long to figure out what we're doing," he reminded you. "We can't land on the pad so we need to find an alternative."
"It's all trees," you huffed. "The landing pad is our only option."
"Ship 4119, you cooperation is required or you will be terminated."
"The landing pad it is," he sighed. "Hold on to the kid. It's not going to be a smooth landing."
You did as he said and waited. He lowered the landing gear and the ship immediately seized up. The shook and rumbled, and alarms started going off. The voice over the intercom had started a countdown until their "termination". Mando waited until the count of one to expertly roll to the side and half land half crash onto a separate landing pad. Guards were around the ship in moments. Stormtroopers.
"Step out of the ship with your arms up," one commanded.
"They don't know that there's two of us," Mando whispered to you. "I'll walk out as they said, then on my signal, you come in behind and start taking them out." You nodded, and he started to make his way off the ship. You watched him closely for the signal as you readied your rocket. One hit, perfectly aimed, would take them all out.
The signal, followed by your rocket going off, followed by a blinding white light filled the next few moments of your life. When the smoke cleared, there was hardly anything telling you there were stormtroopers there at all. You exited the ship with the kid still in your arms.
"Not bad," you complemented yourself.
"Yeah, yeah, you did good," he brushed off. "We're not entirely out of the woods yet. Spread out and make contact if you find the package."
You stopped. "I thought you were leaving."
"What can I say?" he said with a small shrug. "I'm bored." He threw a small communicator in your direction. "If you come back without the kid, you're as good as dead." Without another word, he jogged off to look for the package. You look down at the kid in your hands, and he tilted his head.
"Yeah, I'm confused too," you murmured. You jogged in the opposite direction already waiting to get off this planet.
What seemed like hours later, Mando contacted you on the communicator. It was pretty choppy, but from what you could tell, he either had the package or he would soon. You breathed a sigh of relief. You weren't comfortable being so close to the Empire.
You quickly found the river you had been following, and began heading upstream. The kid was getting restless. He wanted to walk, but the Mandalorian would have your head if you let him with so many stormtroopers around. So you continued. You thought all would be well, but out of nowhere a gun shot fired right next to your head.
"They're over here!" A stormtrooper yelled through the woods. You found cover and quickly opened your communicator.
"Mando, I'm under attack!" you warned. "South of the ship, not far! Hurry!" Shots were firing all around you and the child started whimpering in fear. You held him close to you as you fired shots blindly into the forest. "Mando!"
Stormtroopers yelled in the distance signaling help was there. You stood from your cover and came helmet to helmet with a camo trooper. He knocked his gun into your hands, sending the kid rolling across the forest floor. You fired your blaster and the trooper dropped to the ground. You heard a sickening splash as you realized the child had rolled towards the river.
Mando caught up with you and noticed you didn't have his kid. "Where is he?" he yelled. You ignored him and plunged head first into the river. The child was so small, it would've been carried away in an instant. When you finally spotted him, he was bobbing downstream with a wide smile. You swam towards him, scooped him up, and placed him back on solid ground. Thankfully there wasn't a scratch on him.
The Mandalorian had made it to you and the kid right as you pulled yourself from the river. You were ready for him to scold you, grab the kid, and walk off, but he picked up the kid and extended an arm to you.
"You alright?" he questioned. You hesitantly took his hand, and he helped you stand.
"Fine," you said quietly. A small hint of a nod from Mando, and you were both walking through the forest back to the ship.
Mando held out a metal rod laced with blue light. "This the package?"
"Yes," you said as you took it from him. "Thank you."
"We can't get back on the Razor Crest," he informed. "It's too banged up."
"What are we supposed to do then?" you asked.
He turned to you. "We need one of those Imperial Cruisers."
***
It had been a whole month since your run-in with the Empire. You and Mando successfully stole one of the Empires aircraft, and made your way back to your planet without a hitch. It was there that Mando offered for you to work with him for a while. You told him you had to think about it, but your mind was already made up. You loved the thrill of going off planet, and you wanted to go again.
You hadn't looked back until now. You were currently making your way back to that same dwarf planet to retrieve the ship you had left behind so long ago.
"Either the Empire will be completely flushed out--" Mando was saying.
"Or they'll have grown ten times their original size," you finished.
"That about sums it up," he confirmed. Working together felt so natural now. It was a wonder Mandalorians hadn't worked together before. They had similar expertise, making it easy to agree to and execute a plan. At least, that was the case for you and the Mandalorian. You found a way to communicate without fighting, and you only grew closer from there.
You liked being around the Mandalorian. You hadn't expected to become so close to him, but you didn't mind one bit. You were both at ease with one another and didn't need a lot of words to understand each other. You both had learned the micro movements that the other would use. A small shift of the helmet. A clench of the fist. A drop of the shoulders. Small things that meant so much.
"So, you run the kid onto the ship as I cover you," Mando said, going through the plan once more.
"I set off a distraction long enough for you to make it on the ship yourself," you continued.
"And we fly off the planet as quick as we can."
"Assuming it will fly," you quipped.
"All of this is assuming they've grown stronger," he reminded you. "I'm not sure the Empire is capable of that at this point."
"I wouldn't get my hopes up," you cautioned. The intercom rang out with the same warning you had received last time.
Mando kept his eyes forward. "Here we go." He ignored the voice and landed the ship on the pad. You picked up the kid and waited for Mando to leave the ship first. He walked out, guns blazing, and you were quick to slip out behind him. A few troopers saw you, but luckily they were terrible shots. You made quick work of them and moved the kid onto the Razor Crest. So far so good. Now you just had give Mando a distraction.
Before you could even think of anything, three TIE fighters let loose a rain of fire on the pad where the Mandalorian was. In a panic you fired a rocket at one, but it just missed the fast moving ship.
"Mando!" you called. "Get in here! We need to move!" You fired at as many troopers as you could without attracting fire to yourself, but it didn't help much. He was practically by himself.
"Fire up the ship and take off!" You heard Mando's voice over the communicator in your helmet.
"I'm not leaving you," you replied.
"Leave the ramp open! Trust me!" Going against your better judgement, you did as he said. The child was confused as to why you were leaving the Mandalorian on the planet, but he stayed with you. You tried to get the ship off the ground, but it wouldn't budge. You diverted power and fuel until you had enough of a kick to get it moving.
"Now would be a great time to get on board!" you informed.
"I'm on my way! Fly!" he responded. You pushed forward as the ship creaked. Would it be able to make it off the planet?
"Lower!" Mando's voice called out suddenly. You pushed the ship downwards and everything lurched forward. Including the child who was more than happy to be around all the buttons.
"Get back in your seat," you instructed him. His ears drooped, but he obeyed and crawled off the control panel.
"I'm on! Close the ramp," Mando said. You closed the ramp and tried to direct the ship upwards. TIE fighters noticed the attempt to escape and started firing making the ship worse.
"We're taking fire!" you yelled. Mando climbed the ladder into the cockpit, and you were quick to move so he could take the controls. The ship slowly climbed while taking shots from the TIE fighters. You couldn't dodge them without using much needed fuel to get away from the planet. The ship was rocking and squealing as it tried to break through the planets atmosphere. You grabbed the child and rushed him down to his bed. He would be safer there than in the cockpit.
"We broke through!" Mando informed you. You climbed back up to where he was.
"Then why are we still shaking uncontrollably?" you questioned.
"Those TIE fighters will be on us in seconds," he continued. "We need to jump to hyperspace."
"This ship can't do that!"
"It'll have to. Where's the kid?"
"He's safe."
"Then hold on." He prepared everything for the jump, but he looked over at you before he started. "It's our only option."
You strapped in as quickly as you could. "Then do it." Mando engaged the hyperdrive. Immediately you knew you were going to crash. The ship's alarms blared and the engine burst into flames. Pulling out of hyperspace, you saw a planet speeding into view, but you couldn't stop the ship in time. You crashed and slid on the icy planet before everything went black.
***
When you woke up, you could only make out the orange light of fire mixing with the blue light of the planet you were on. You tried to blink to make the world come into focus, but your eyes refused to comply. You took off your helmet for a moment and cold wind whipped at your face. The back of your head throbbed and you gingerly touched it. When you moved your hand you saw that it was coated in blood. You were wounded where no one could see.
You slipped your helmet back on before going to find the Mandalorian. You didn't know what to do except find him, so that's what you would do. You didn't have to walk far before you found the crashed ship. You picked up the pace as you called for the Mandalorian. You entered the burning ship and found Mando unconscious in the cock pit. You shook his shoulder until he finally woke.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"I'm fine," you lied.
"And the kid?" he pressed.
"I don't know," you answered. You both quickly descended the ladder and opened the door to the sleeping pod. The child sat on the bed completely unharmed. You breathed a sigh of relief. You felt as if the kid was your own. You didn't know what you'd do if something happened to him.
"Any sign of the Empire?" Mando questioned.
"None," you replied. "But there's no sign of getting off this planet either. We really messed up."
"There has to be some kind of lifeform on this planet," he insisted.
"I saw the planet. It's all snow and ice. You'd have to be crazy to live here."
"We have to try anyway." He grabbed a blanket off the bed and wrapped the child in it. You all left the ship and stepped onto the freezing planet. Your hopes of finding a way off were low to non-existent, but you followed Mando. He'd find a way.
The longer you walked, the dizzier you felt. Your head hadn't stopped throbbing and you were finding it hard to focus. Whatever you had done to your head was slowly chipping away at you. Your legs felt weak, and it wasn't long before they gave out on you. You crumpled into the snow.
"Y/N!" Mando called. You couldn't register his voice. Where he was. What was happening. The fact that he had used your name though you never gave it to him. It was all just a fleeting thought that was drowned out in the pain. He held you in his arms as he tried to keep you conscious. You felt his hands at the sides of your helmet and you quickly held them away.
"It's against the code," you groaned.
He looked at his hand which was covered in blood from your helmet. "You're bleeding! I have to take it off to help!"
"No!" you insisted. "You can't see my face. You know that."
"I'd rather you live with the shame then die here in the snow!"
"I can't," you breathed. "I've never taken it off in front of anyone." He stopped and looked at you hopelessly.
"It's ok," you said. "Find a way off the planet and take care of the kid." The Mandalorian carefully propped you up in the snow then slightly stepped back. Before you could say anything, or even think of what was happening. He removed his helmet and dropped it at his feet. His brown hair blew wildly in the wind as he bent down to you.
"You..." you barely whispered.
"I'm helping you even if that means breaking the code, but we'll be breaking it together," he said. You felt him lifting the helmet off your head, but you didn't stop him. He placed your helmet next to his in the snow and gently moved your hair aside. You didn't have the willpower to fight what was happening. You let him work as the world grew fuzzy around you. It all seemed surreal. Especially when the next thing you remembered was the child dropping to the ground in exhaustion.
The world was coming back into focus, and the throbbing pain in your skull subsided. You looked up to see your Mandalorian unmasked and holding his child. Your hand instinctively reached for the wound at the back of your head, but there was none.
"He healed you." It was strange to hear the Mandalorian's voice outside of the helmet. It was softer and more real. "I don't know how he does it, but it drains his energy. It was the only way to save you.
You stood slowly, unable to take your eyes from the Mandalorian's. It was strange to think he was seeing your face just as you were seeing his. You thought you'd be more ashamed. After all you had broken one of the most important rules on Mandalore. You both had. But you didn't feel guilt like you had done something wrong. You felt what you could only identify as relief. Relief that you didn't have to hide behind your metal helmet in front of the one you cared so deeply for.
Mando picked up both the helmets, handing yours to you. "We should get moving." You stared into yours, not wanting to put it back on. You grudgingly did, and Mando followed. You both took moment to stare at each others expressionless helmets, then continued through the ice and snow.
When you finally found people, you recognized them as a rebels. There weren't many that were aware of the Empires presence and even fewer would fight. They wouldn't harm you. They brought you into a cave that was partially lined with metal and cement. They hadn't been there long. They were hesitant to let you in at first, but when they saw the child laying unconscious in Mando's arms, they obliged. They took the kid to care for him, and you could tell Mando was tense. You placed your hand on his shoulder and he turned to you.
"He's going to be fine," you comforted. He remained silent. "You...said my name. Back in the snow. Unless I was hallucinating--"
"You weren't" he confirmed. "I saw it on our first trip to that kriffing dwarf planet. I never meant to get used to saying it in my head. I'm sorry."
You shrugged. "I don't think you knowing it puts me in danger."
He took a deep breath. "My real name is Din Djarin."
"You didn't have to tell me--"
"From now on, we do things together or not at all. Deal?"
You desperately wished he could see you smile. "Deal."
***
A week passed on the planet you came to know as Hoth. You needed time to recover and so did the kid. The rebels were working on a way to get you off the planet, and the Mandalorian spent most of his time working to help them with that. He was getting more frustrated every day. You wanted to help him. Tell him they'd find a way soon, but the only option they had was another week of waiting until a ship flew in for supplies.
It was late at night when he came to you. He was broken down and stressed, but he would never tell you so. He hardly said a word to you during the whole week. But now here he was.
He walked over to you slowly and stopped. "I can't find a faster way off this planet," he said, his voice laced with defeat.
"It's alright," you assured him. "What matters is that we will get off. Eventually."
"Eventually," he repeated. "Eventually isn't good enough."
"We're alright here," you soothed. "Nothing's going to happen to the kid here."
"They have trackers," he pointed out. "They'll find him if we don't move--"
"Din," you said, using his name for the first time since he told it to you. You stepped closer so he was only a few inches apart from you. You removed his helmet without any objections from him and set it aside. You did the same to your helmet. You needed to talk to him face to face.
"No one is going to get the kid because we're protecting him," you said. "We protect him together." Din smiled, wrapped his arms around your waist, and pulled you closer to him. Your arms rested around his neck as your lips touched. A kiss was something a Mandalorian could never know. But you both disregarded the rules just so you could know each other's touch not through a casing of metal. And you did it together.
You were always a sheltered child. It's how your life had been since being taken in by your father. You had poise and manner like him, your grace came from your estranged mother; as he always told you. You learned to leave him alone most days as he was busy.
Some days I can't say why I'm feeling lonely And some days I am too proud to ask for help
You'd go outside to go to school or be with family; as you didn't have many friends.
And I stumble through the noise trying to find some peace. A stranger in the crowd, I lose myself
You always realized that being by yourself wasn't always bad. You had this place that you found while walking in the gardens. Simple but calm place by the port that overlooked the ocean. It was calming when you had a bad day.
So I walk down to the river. Where the troubles, they can't find me. Let the waters there remind me. The sun will be there when we wake
Unfortunately, you got bullied because of who your father was. You had gotten punched at least once. You begged Mycroft to get a basic self defense course, but he replied with a resonant "no" or "what do you need that for?"
You would just leave him alone after that.
I walk down to the river. Though I might not understand it. It's not always as we planned it. But we grow stronger when we break. So I walk down to the river. I walk down to the river.
Over the last several weeks, Mycroft still mostly ignored you. Why would he care anyway? Your life felt like hell.
This raging world can get so overwhelming
You got mugged after some guys who wanted money. You got a black eye and several bumps and bruises. You realized you needed a solution. You knew this was the last straw. If you're going to do something, do it yourself. You tried looking up self defense stuff, at most you looked like a flailing chicken and with less grace than you'd like.
Looking for a meaning when it won't make sense.
People at school left you alone for the most part. A female student walked up to you "Hey Y/N. I heard what happened the other day. Are you ok?" She asked.
"Could be worse I guess" You replied.
In my head it's getting loud like I can't outrun this cloud
"Well I know someone who may help. She does this cool course on parkour and self-defense. She'll help anybody. Here's her address to the studio she runs. The classes are late though, but it helped me. So maybe check it out" The student suggested, giving you the class information.
"I will. Thanks" you told her.
You decided to sneak out from your balcony that night in a hoodie and sweatpants. You glanced at a shop window, seeing a reflection.
No matter where I go well there I am
You went to this old building by the port. It seemed abandoned, but went inside to see an instructor setting up.
So I walk down to the river. Where the troubles, they can't find me. Let the waters there remind me. The sun will be there when we wake.
"Hey, you here for the course?" She turned around, a smile on her face "Hmph, rich kid is very clear on your face. Let me guess, sheltered life, daddy issues" she laughed.
"Y-yea. Y/N Holmes" you replied quietly.
"Well, You came to the right place Y/N. Fortunately, most of these sessions will be one on one. Starting off with a simple jog around the docks" she told you simply and you followed her.
"Name is Willabe or Will. Makes it easy. Now come on" she started jogging and you did the same.
I walk down to the river. Though I might not understand it. It's not always as we planned it. But we grow stronger when we break. So I walk down to the river. I walk down to the river.
Over the next months, you got faster and more agile. You did several climbs and parkour sessions with basic self defense. You'd sneak out from your bedroom balcony to do these sessions almost daily.
Mycroft did start to notice however when your grades started slipping. He knocked on your door and opened it. He noticed you in workout gear and nodded "I wanted to talk to you about your grades" He started.
"O-oh! I see" You nodded.
"Y/N, I know things are stressful at the moment. But these grades, I mean you fell asleep in most classes now! You're failing at most tests now" He said and you looked down.
"It's why I'm coming with the decesion to put you back in home schooling" He said.
"WHAT?! The school I have is the only normal thing you ever gave me. I want to have a normal life. I've been ignored by you for years! I have put up with your 'strategy' for too long and I'm sick of it! When I wanted a self defense class when I got mugged-"
"You got mugged?" He asked, his expression falling.
" you didn't care! You just said no. But when suddenly I need help in school and you take the only rountine type thing I have. It isn't fair!" You ranted.
"Y/N-" he started.
"No!" You cried. "You don't understand how it feels to be in your constant shadow. I'm surprised Uncle Sherlock still acknowledges I exist. Compared to you" You ran out quickly in tears.
"Y/N wait. Y/N!" He tried going after you. You ran out the door into the pouring rain. You ran as far as you could.
Let the calm pull me under. Far beyond the thunder. And tell me it will all be okay.
You climbed a radio tower that overlooked the water. It was a beautiful view that made you happy.
Let the waves take all my worries. Conquer them with fury. Give me shelter, be my escape. When getting on top, you sat down on the platform and just started crying. You cried about everything. The mugging, the bullying, the greatfullness you gave Will, and also your father. You looked out and sniffled quietly to yourself.
I walk down to the river. Where the troubles, they can't find me. Let the waters there remind me. The sun will be there when we wake
You eventually saw headlights of a black car by the docks. You also noticed the familiar umbrella as Mycroft stepped out.
"Are you going to come down, or do I have to come up there?" He asked loudly. You sighed and started making your way down the radio tower. When you came down he gave you a coat which you put on.
"I'm sorry" he frowned and you put him in a hug "No, I'm sorry. I-" he shushed you.
"I do what I do because I do love you. I may not show it, but I do care about you Y/N" He said quietly.
I walk down to the river. Though I might not understand it. It's not always as we planned it. But we grow stronger when we break.
You embraced him and gave a smile "I'm sorry Dad" he said softly.
"I forgive you" he wrapped his free arm around you.
So I walk down to the river. I walk down to the river. I walk down to the river. I walk down to the river, to the river
To the river. I walk down, oh oh oh oh. To the river, oh oh oh oh oh oh
Request: Vampire Academy one shot where the reader is Lissa's sister and runs away from the Academy,and they send Dimitri after her and she puts up a fight @vampiregirl2696
A/N: Hope you guys like it, I spent a few weeks working on it in between classes.
You managed to evade capture when Rose Hathaway, your best friend, and Vasilissa Dragomir, your sister, were intercepted by St. Vladimir’s guardians. You knew neither of them would spill that you managed to escape undetected. You also knew that you would not be able to return to the college housing unit the three of you stayed at and Rose had the keys to your housing mate, Jeremy’s car, so you gathered your bags and went to a local bar in hopes of finding some guy to compel for a car.
You sat at the grungy bar and compelled yourself a drink, because Rose took the money in her bag. Not long after you received it, a young man approached you, “Hey hot stuff,” he flirted, “What brings a beautiful lady like you to a dump like this?”
“My ride kinda bailed on me.”
“Well, I can get you where you need to be,” the dark haired charmer held up a key on a keychain and grinned. “That would be fantastic! Thank you!” You shot up out of your seat and hugged him. It was all going according to your plan. The young man put his arms around you and escorted you to his motorcycle. He turned and handed you a helmet. You put your hands over his and looked into his eyes. For you, just like your sister, compulsion came easy for you, “You will give me your keys. After I leave, you will forget me, walk back into the bar, and have a few drinks. You will not miss your bike or report it stolen. If anyone asks, you sold it to someone who needed it more than you.”
When you finished talking, he nodded his head and dropped the keys into your now outstretched hand. You put the helmet on as he walked away and put your small bag in the side compartment. The engine roared when you turned the key in the ignition. You sped off into the night and drove a few hours until you came across a small, quaint motel. The office was still open and only one room was occupied. After you parked the motorcycle, you walked into the small office and rang the bell. An old man hobbled out of a back room, “Hello, dear, how can I help you?”
You looked him in the eyes and prepared to use your compulsion, “I had a long night. I was attacked and almost killed. I have no money to pay. I think it would be generously kind of you to set me up in a room for no cost to me. It is the least you could do, considering what I’ve been through.”
The man blinked once and began to speak, “Oh you poor thing. Let me set you up with a room free of charge. It is the least I can do, considering what you’ve been through.”
“Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. How can I ever repay you?”
“Your gratitude is more than enough,” he handed you the key, “Stay as long as you need.”
After you thanked the man and took the key, you hastily made your way to your room with you small bag of necessities. That night you barely slept. In the morning you dropped off the key and compelled the old man to forget you. Then you set off and drove for the whole day until you came to another motel, that was across state lines, around midnight. You used the same method as before to get a room.
For almost a week you continued this routine until one night when you ran into trouble. You felt like you were being followed, but you saw no one tailing you. Just to be on the safe side you stopped at the first motel you saw, but used the same ruse to get in. When you found your room, you locked the main door and propped a chair under it. You tossed your bag on the bed and dug out your body wash. In the dimly lit bathroom, you took a quick hot shower. As you got out and dried off, you suddenly realized how hungry you were. You wrapped the towel around your body and steadied yourself on the sink for a moment before opening the bathroom door.
At first you thought it was your hunger playing tricks on you, but after blinking a few times, the good looking man with long brown hair was still seated at the foot of the bed. It was obvious he was a dhampir. And a good one based on his god-like looks. Fear took over. Instead of running away or screaming for help, you stood in the bathroom doorway, frozen in your tracks. The dhampir avoided looking at any part of your body except for your eyes.
“I’m not going back,” you broke the awkward silence.
“You don’t have any other choice, your highness,” He finally spoke up in a deep voice that was sprinkled with a russian accent.
“The fuck I don’t,” you spat back, “I could yell for help and the manager would call the cops.”
“I think we both know you won’t do that.”
“Who are you anyway? The KGB?”
He rolled his eyes at that remark. “My name is Dimitri Belikov. I’m your new guardian. I work for the academy.”
“Well, Dimitri, how the fuck did you even find me in the first place? Lissa and Rose would never give me up.”
He ignored your question and tossed you a pair of clothes that you had in your bag, “Get dressed. We have a long trip back to the academy, princess.”
“Who pissed in your cheerios?” you mumbled while you took the clothes into the bathroom and then you got dressed.
When you opened the door, the russian dhampir was standing by the door to outside with your bag in one hand. You were about to make a wise ass comment to him as you walked out of the bathroom, but the dizziness from your hunger took over and you stumbled, catching yourself on the foot of the bed.
“Princess y/n Dragomir, what is wrong?” Dimitri rushed over to you.
“I’m fine,” you pressed you index and middle fingers to your temples.
“No you’re not, when was the last time you had blood?”
“I said I’m fine!” you tried to jump up, but the room wobbled. The guardian steadied you.
“You are not fine” he put your bag down and sat you on the bed, “you need to drink.”
He took off his duster, tossed it on your bag, and squatted down in front of you. He rested his arms on his knees. You saw that under the duster he was wearing a thin black t-shirt with sleeves just past his elbows. The shirt defined his god-like muscles. Dimitri extended his arm out to you, “Here. Drink.”
“No, I’m fine.”
He stopped you from getting up, “You are not fine. Drink. You will not even make it to the car before collapsing again,” his voice was stern.
You glared at him but took his arm and bit into his wrist, slowly slurping down his warm, thick blood. A few seconds after you began drinking, you heard Dimitri make a noise in the back of his throat. It was not a sound of pain, but if you didn’t know any better, you would say it was one of pleasure. A bit under a minute later, you dropped his arm.
“Thanks,” you mumbled under your breath as you wiped your mouth.
He made a slight “mhm” when he got up. You sat on the bed watching him as he wiped his arm and put his duster on in a daze.
“Ya know, if you want, we can go in the morning. I can tell no one’s ever, uh,” you cleared your throat, “you know, before. So, like, if you feel woozy or whatever, we can leave in the morning. I won’t run away, scout’s honor. And Kirova doesn’t even need to find, and if you’re worried about Strigoi, I haven’t run into one yet, have I? And on that off chance that one does come, I think you’ll be able to hear my blood curtling scream.”
He looked at you, contemplating your offer for a second and then spoke up, “Okay. I’ll take the arm chair.”
“Oh no. I’m small enough to fit in the armchair lying down. You take the bed. I insist,” He opened his mouth to argue, but you cut him off, “Don’t even try to argue about it, I can stand here all night and do this if I have to. Plus I’m a royal and your are my acting guardian, so you have to do what I say,” you crossed your arms across your chest.
“Fine, we are leaving in the morning.”
“Okay.”
Right at sunrise you felt someone gently shaking you out of your light sleep, “Princess, we need to be going now. The academy is expecting us back.”
You smiled at him, went to the bathroom, and then followed him to the car where you sat up front with him on the ride to the academy’s plane.
At the academy, Rose and Lissa were relieved to see that you were safe and sound and back with them. Before you headed to your first class you spotted Dimitri.
“Hey, Dimitri!” You shouted as you ran over to him, “Guardian Belikov!”
“Yes, Princess?”
“I wanted to thank you for, um, you know. If you didn’t make me take it, I probably wouldn’t be okay. So, uh, thank you.”
“You’re welcome Princess y/n,” he said. And, for the first time ever, you saw him smile at you.
