So hey, remix reveals are up! Allright so I wrote:
The future's in somebody's back yard (the fly like we do mix)
Which is remix of four of pearlo's fic. And it's - you know I wanted to go like "oh this is kind of my love story to fandom" but it's really not, it's kind of like my love story to pearlo (and okay the evil shaw ficcers gang), whom I adore adoringly and whose fic I also adore, and all the fun we have had in this fandom (the original draft was actually a fair bit more meta...but I ended up leaving most of that out), and thinking about the remix and spending a fair amount of time talking to A. about the remix and somewhere along the way we decided to do this, and she basically did all the formatting work for it because she is awesome (why is she so great though, really?), and so is pearlo, and basically, yes. And I chose the stories that were dearest to me (and some actually written for us, so they're ouurs) (The Brothers! Charlotte!) Anyway the original stories are so great:
Give me your stars to hold
Rest your head (on this heart of mine)
For remix madness I wrote
Stand Up (The We Shall Not Be Moved Remix)
which is a remix of Stand Down by the lovely turtletotem, and I had a lot of feelings about Raven in the aftermath of Charles' and Erik's death in that story, although I'm really happy they finally got their happy ending. Again, lovely lovely A. betad it and I love her. I don't really write Raven at all unless it's about her relationship with Charles as seen through Charles' eyes, and I do think she's a little cold in this story, but then again these are the choices both she and Erik made,
(I wish I had more things to say about how I remix, but honestly as with all my writing, it's ninety-percent panic, five-percent last minute inspiration and the remaining five-percent is spent yelling at A. and going "this is horrible isn't it you're just being nice ISN'T IT, the writer will hate me forever for ruining their beautiful story WON'T THEY" while she holds my hand and soothes me as one would a jittery horse.)
Once again, written for me was:
too many times before (the six feet over remix)
Which was a remix of So I keep it low, keep a secret code And honestly, NO-ONE ELSE COULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS STORY LADY_K I LOVE YOU THE MOST.
