Making Waves Bragging Rights

When I Started: 11-25-2019
How I Lost My Shit: This entire fic started because a handful of people on discord told me to go for it even though I had half an idea, and I posted the first chapter as my AU day submission for Inuvember 2019. Got hit with imposter syndrome when people actually started reading it and started to juggle more and more ideas. Side stories happened. I got caught up trying to do everything for everyone and every event and I…couldn’t. It killed my motivation to where an entire year had passed between updates without me realizing it. I forgot why I enjoyed working on it because I was too busy worrying about not being part of the fandom if I didn’t follow the group.
How I Finished My Shit: I was told right at the end of April about the event and I almost didn’t sign up. I had just finished blitzing through another longfic for the past two months and was already drained. But then I looked at the list of what I needed to finish and realized “I might be able to finish this one” and gave it a chance. From right after signing up to the middle of June I was sprinting almost nightly with other writers in my discord server. I didn’t think this fic would actually make me cry, but it did. If it wasn’t certain scenes it was knowing that I had finally finished it.
It’s not the end of this AU, because I’ve still got ideas to write additional oneshots, but there’s something bittersweet about seeing how the last chapter came full circle. It makes me happy.
