Thoughts about the last four episodes of Sense8 (and the series as a whole).  This kind of turned into more of a liveblogging post than the last two posts about the show because I wrote it as I was watching the episodes rather than after (so this is a long one):

That scene between Sun and her dad near the beginning of episode 9...my heart.

Kala is so pretty and has such beautiful hair.  This is not a new revelation, I just have not commented on it yet.

I love the scene between Lito and Nomi where he’s reminiscing about his and Fernando’s first date and telling her about it.  Nomi:  “There’s a difference between what we work for and what we live for.”

Ugh though when Nomi was telling the story about those little punks giving her second degree burns in the shower when she was a kid.  And Lito go so upset about it.  I just loved this scene so much.  Nomi:  “The real violence, the violence that I realized is unforgivable, is the violence that we do to ourselves when we’re too afraid to be who we really are.”

Manendra is alive?!  First Felix, now him...I swear, the people on this show are immortal.  It was so sad when Sahana asked Kala to pray for him.

The scenes in Iceland are so pretty.  That scene with Riley talking to her husband in the cemetery was so sad; it kind of made me emotional even before Capheus showed up and told Riley about his baby sister, and then that just made it worse.  I was wondering what happened to her (actually, I didn’t know it was a her, I only knew his mom was pregnant in the flashbacks but it was just Capheus and his mom in the present).

Riley and Capheus were about the last two Sensates I’d have expected to have a connection (I mean, beyond them being Sensates in the same cluster), but they actually have a lot in common.

Nomi...you are on the run, and you hide in your apartment?!  Don’t you think that’s one of the first places they’d look for you?  Nomi to Amanita:  “I knew you’d find me.”  Not like you made it difficult for her, Nomi, hiding in the apartment you share with her.  You have many skills, dear Nomi, but things like going undercover and hiding from people who want to cut a chunk of your brain out are not one of them.  At least Amanita called her out on it.  I had to laugh though at the part where she had the knife because I’ve done that before.

Lito eating ice cream and being sad about his breakup with Hernando.  I love that man.  I loved Hernando’s voice mail:  “This is Hernando.  Now you say something.”  Ngl I thought Lito might kill himself in that scene.  I mean, first he’s standing on the very edge of the balcony, and then there was that random gun lying on the ground (thank Jesus it turned out to just be a lighter).  Much like Riley, Lito is so pretty when he cries, but it’s also so sad.  “I miss your voice.  I have all these voices in my head, but yours is the only one I can’t live without.”  Rip my heart out, why don’t you?

I just realized that Tuppence Middleton was in an episode of Black Mirror (random aside).

I am gradually trusting Jonas less and less.  Though I’m also dubious of that Icelandic Senaste who Riley was talking to, so who the fuck knows who’s telling the truth?  Maybe neither of them are.

Capheus is such a charmer.  Upon seeing Kala for the first time:  “You are beautiful.”  Also what he said about TV (when Kala asked how a TV could be more important than a bed) was very insightful:  “A bed keeps you in this room; a flat screen takes you out.”  I loved that he and Kala kind of had a movie night of sorts, all wrapped up in blankets.  That was so cute.

Mr. Whispers gives me this Slenderman vibe, especially when people continue to admonish the Sensates to never look him in the eye.  He’s creepy.

I think Sun is going to miss her friends in prison when she’s released, not to mention her freedom from her father (though he seems to have come around and realized that of his two children, Sun’s the good one).

Aha about Steiner with the diamonds:  “Would any of you suck cock for this?”  And then one of his guys just kind of shrugs and says yes.  I mean, it’s just plain stupid to be so homophobic that you’re not willing to suck dick for all those diamonds.

I just realized that Lito is wearing a sock on one foot and a flip flop on the other.  What a cutie.

I hope that Jonas and that Icelandic Sensate don’t come between Will and Riley.  The way Will pressed his forehead to Riley’s was adorable.

I am SO happy that Lito went back to the bar and apologized to the bartender (and kissed him and then professed his love for Hernando, which was admittedly kind of weird but ultimately sweet).  “Your offer to do terrible things to me...was effective.”  Oh my God, I always loved Lito, but man, he’s been really entertaining (sometimes sad, sometimes funny) lately.

Bahaha to Riley giving her dad and his friends ecstasy and those old guys being so into it.

I am not a fan of Daniela’s new hair.  Joaquin’s influence, I’m going to assume.  Daniela seemed so happy and hopeful when Lito showed up (most likely since Joaquin is still beating her judging by her cut lip and bruised face.  Lito was so great in that scene.  “I’ve come for my friend.  Come on, Dani; we’re going home.”  I was laughing when both Lito and Daniela were imploring Joaquin to not hit him in the face.  And then Lito popped up out of the bushes with those flowers.  I love that Wolfie helped him fight off Joaquin.  You can tell that Lito is not a man who is used to fighting for real and that he was expecting it to be like it is in the movies he makes.

When the series began, it was June, and now it’s the fourth of July...it doesn’t seem like that much time has passed, though I suppose the series could have began at the end of June.  I don’t know, when in June is Pride usually held?

Aww to Sun, Will, and Capheus watching fireworks together.

When Lito and Hernando made up *heart eyes*  “My career is important to me, but it will never be as important as you.”

This whole Lito/Hernando/Daniela weird threesome thing they’ve got going on has grown on me a lot.  It’s still very bizarre, but I like it.

Riley looked so happy and proud when she was watching her dad play in the orchestra, and I loved how all the Sensates “shared” the experience with her.

EWWWW EWWW EWWW OH MY GOD THEY SHOWED RILEY’S BIRTH IN SO MUCH GRAPHIC DETAIL AND EVEN SHOWED HER HEAD CROWNING.

And then they showed everyone else being born.  All of these births are so bizarre.  Like...Lito was born in room full of people who were all watching TV (including the mother).  Will was born in the back of a police car.  Sun was born in a cemetery.  Riley was born at home while her mom screamed into a phone and her dad played piano on the other end of the call.

Capheus and Sun crying during the orchestra.  Oh Lord, this scene was more emotional than I was anticipating.

Nomi and Will teaming up to save Riley.  I love when the Sensates team up for stuff, either by sharing or visiting.

Amanita is the best secondary character.  Not only does she just blindly trust Nomi and believe that these visions she has are real (like when Nomi was talking to Will right in front of her), but she also got a lighter and hairspray ready when Bug knocked on the door.

Rajan’s beard looks so soft.  So does his hair.  I kind of want to rub my face on his face and run my fingers through his hair.

Rajan:  “I can imagine no better life than growing old with you.”  Man...Kala is going to break this guy’s heart.

Will cares about Riley so much, holding her hand and kissing it and stroking her hair at her bedside in the hospital.

Capheus’s Matatu bus is really cool.  I don’t think I’ve said that yet.

Fuck’s sake, Sun’s got such shit luck.  I’m very skeptical about her dad’s death; I think Joong had something to do with it.

Hold up:  Sun figured that out right away (I should have known that she would) and then proceeded to beat the shit out of him.  Good for you, Sun.

Everytime one of these Sensates needs someone to help them fight someone off, Sun comes and saves the day.  They’d all be fucked without her.  She’s such a badass.

I loved Will helping Kala threaten those religious zealots.

When Capheus fishtailed the bus and rammed the back end into that thug...that was awesome.  That guy he rescued better get Capheus’s mom all the medicine she needs.

Man..Sun is not doing so great with her father being murdered by her brother...I guess that would fuck a person up.  She was giving me serious Sonmi-451 vibes in that last scene with Kala at the end of episode 11.

I am writing this all on Monday night, but it’s already late and I’m so tired...I don’t think I can stay up for the last episode.  Drat.  I want to know what happens with Wolfie and Riley and their situations.

FINALLY watching the last episode.  Will is going to Iceland to save Riley!  My Wiley feels.

Riley was pregnant when she got in the car accident with her husband, yet she doesn’t have a baby now...oh no.

AGAIN WITH THE GRAPHIC BIRTHING SCENE FOR FUCK’S SAKE.  But man, giving birth in an overturned car after an accident that killed your husband in the middle of a massive Icelandic blizzard is about the absolute worst place to do it.

Will, Nomi, and Amanita teaming up to rescue Riley.  I love that Amanita is still just going with it.  It takes a lot of trust to do that.

Oh my God, Riley had to punch her way through a frozen car window and then wander through a frozen tundra with her newborn baby, which then dies.  This just keeps getting worse.  No wonder she wanted to get the fuck out of Iceland.

RILEY DO NOT FUCKING KILL YOURSELF.  Thank Jesus Will was there to talk her out of it.

Random aside:  Riley is now the third person to put a gun in her mouth on this show.

I have this sinking suspicion that one of the Sensates is going to die before this episode is over.  I mean, things are looking pretty grim for Wolfie right now.

:( Now Kala is there because Wolfie wanted to say goodbye before he dies.  She’s about to save his ass though.  Kala as she makes a bomb in like 30 seconds:  “I’m not like Sun.  I don’t know how to use my fists, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to fight.  I’m not ready to say goodbye.”

Oh my God, Wolfie killed his dad when he was a kid (not that he didn’t have it coming, but still).

And now his uncle is trying to bribe Wolfie with his watch...I don’t know why he thought that would work.  Sigh...Kala saw him shoot the shit out of his uncle and was crying, and then he told her to marry Rajan.

Okay, so Nomi and Will (and Amanita) are working on saving Riley, but I hope that Sun, Kala, Lito, Wolfie, and Capheus somehow help too.

Aha all those guys at the lab being so upset at the car being fucked up.  But man, Will almost getting found out because his phone wasn’t bright enough for the sensor to pick it up.

Yay now Lito is involved!  Bahah, Will:  “Do I know you?”  Lito:  “We had sex.”  And then Will being so flustered when Lito said it was special.

Oh Lord, Lito charming that scientist lady to get information.  Masterful.

I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT JONAS.  Is he a good guy or not?

Yay now Sun’s there!  She’s about to fuck shit up.  Will:  “Shit, four guards.”  Sun:  “Is that all?”  And then she puts them down in less than 30 seconds.

Okay so now Capheus, Kala, and Wolfie just have to get involved somehow.

I love the scene where Will touches Riley for the first time in person and it flashes back to all the times they shared/visited and they kept switching spots on the bed.

I don’t know how the fuck Will is going to get Riley out of the lab.

Yes, now Kala is there to wake Riley up.

Man...whispers is fucking Jonas up.

Oh fuck...Will looked at Whispers.

Now Capheus is helping by hot wiring the ambulance.  At this point I think Wolfie HAS to end being involved somehow because he can’t be the only one who doesn’t help.

Whispers is giving me even more of a Slenderman vibe now that he can get into Will’s head.

Also:  quick thinking on Nomi’s part to not tell Will WHY he’s taking the left road into the fog so that Whispers couldn’t see the plan in his head.

And there’s Wolfie.  I should have known all of the Sensates would help.

Is this the exact same road that Riley was on when her husband died, or just the same mountains?  If it’s the same road, where the fuck were Riley and her husband driving from back in the day?

Will’s reaction to being pregnant for like two seconds is my reaction.

A wild Daryl Hannah appears.  She seriously has been in less than ten minutes of this show.

Oh my God...is Will going to kill himself?  HE HAD BETTER NOT.  Though it would make sense because he’s my favorite character.

Aww, Will professed his love for Riley.  Again with the Wiley feels.

YES Riley drove the ambulance out of there and saved everyone, and Will didn’t have to die.

I love all the Sensates being on the boat with Will and Riley.  This is the first time they’ve all been in a scene together.

This episode was pretty light on Lito, Sun, and Capheus.

Sigh...now it’s over.

Okay, so Sense8 is awesome, and you all should watch it.  I have some final thoughts:

All of the Sensates are perfect angels who must be protected

I’m going to be honest:  I came into this show for the gay, but that’s definitely not why I stayed.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved the LitNando storyline, but there were so many other good things about the show.

There are so many hanging threads with stories, not just the whole Whispers being able to find them now that Will looked at him thing.  There’s Sun and her prison saga, Capheus and his mother’s health issues, Kala/Rajan and Kala/Wolfie, Wolfgang now having killed a fuck ton of people (there have to be some kind of repercussions from that), Felix’s health, Joaquin probably revealing to the world that Lito is gay, the murder of that girl (for real, I thought for sure that Will would finally solve it), Amanita being possibly targeted by Whispers, etc.  There has to be a season 2...do the right thing, Netflix.

Okay, so how the actual fuck was Daryl Hannah a regular?  Legit she was in maybe ten minutes of the entire show, which is approximately 12 hours long.  Yet people like Jonas, Hernando, Daniela, Diego, Felix, Rajan, etc etc etc who were in almost every episode are not regulars (except in the case of Jonas, but that’s only when Naveen Andrews is actually in the episode; he’s not listed if he’s not in it, the same sort of thing they did on Daredevil).  I just...I don’t get it.  It’s not even like they were hoping her name would bring in more viewers because lbr, her star has faded quite a bit, and even if that were the case, you’d think they’d make an effort to feature her more.  It doesn’t make any sense.

I’m glad that Wiley, LitNando, and Nomanita were solid at the end of the episode, but I’m a bit worried about Kala and Wolfie.

Speaking of Kala, she still hasn’t broken Rajan’s heart yet, the poor guy (again, not saying Kala is wrong or anything, obviously not since I ship her with Wolfie, I just really like Rajan).  He’ll find someone else though; with hair and a beard like that, how could he not?  He should maybe listen to Adele’s “Someone Like You” a hundred or so times after Kala breaks the engagement first though.

Apparently Kala’s sister’s name is Dala, which I like because they rhyme (I just learned this from Wikipedia).

I have to say though, as much as I enjoyed a lot of the (very frequent) nudity (particularly Lito and Wolfie), I have to wonder how much of it was really necessary.  I felt like they were kind of just trying to push the envelope.  I’m always so torn because I’m generally against nudity for nudity’s sake in shows and movie (especially when it comes to women because they’re already so exploited in that regard), but at the same time, I kind of wanted the guys to be naked more often.  Basically I’m hypocritical trash.  I will say that at least the nudity was distributed pretty equally among the men and the women.  Actually I think the guys were naked more, so I don’t feel like the nudity was really exploitative.

I’m sure there’s more I wanted to talk about, but I’m coming up empty.

Everyone needs to watch this show.  It’s not like anything else.  I’m not saying it’s my favorite show or even my favorite Netflix show (that honor goes to Hemlock Grove), but the concept is so unique and is executed very well.  Plus the diversity in this show is incredible (which I know has been discussed a lot, but it really is).  I feel like in that regard at least, it’s really ahead of the times (which is sad because all shows should have this much diversity).

"I almost lost you." p/s: so, I made it, like, a part 2 from this

Niall winced slightly, as he tried to sit up, shakily swung his legs over the edge of the bed, one hand was trying to steady his movement, while another was holding the wounded spot on his stomach carefully, afraid that he’ll pull out the stitches if he was moving too fast. 

“Niall, what the hell are you doing?” Zayn asked urgently, and Niall heard his footsteps approaching the bed.

“I want to get some fresh air.” Niall replied simply, knowing full well that Zayn won’t let him to do that if he was in the room. 

“Ni, we talked about this. You need to rest, let the wound heal first.” Zayn said, gently putting his arm around Niall waist, and pushing him to lay down on the bed again. 

“But, I’m bored. I  can’t just lay here forever.” Niall grumbled, feeling slightly annoyed at the helplessness that he was feeling at the moment. He stared at the ceiling silently, feeling the bed dipped on his right, and Zayn’s face hovered above him. 

“Hey, look at me, I’m worried about you. Just rest, yeah, for me?” Zayn coaxed, cupping Niall’s face gently, and Niall melted under Zayn’s touch. He stared at Zayn’s face, feeling guilty when he noticed the dark smudges under Zayn’s eyes. 

“Zayn, are you okay?”

Zayn smiled slightly, brushing some of Niall’s bangs away from his forehead. “I’m fine. I’m not the one with wounded stomach, am I?” He said, and Niall can hear the shakiness in Zayn’s tone and it reminded Niall of that day. 

“Zayn-” Niall said, pleading for Zayn to tell him the truth.

Zayn’s smile dropped, before he wrapped his arm around Niall carefully, leaning down to kiss Niall’s temple. “I almost lost you, Ni. I was so scared.” 

“Hey, I’m here, I’m okay.” Niall said gently. “You don’t have to worry about me, okay? You have to take care of yourself too, Zayn.”

Zayn shrugged. “I can’t help it, Ni. I’ll always worry about you, I think it’s a package that comes with being your boyfriend.” He said, smiling slightly. 

Niall rolled his eyes, before he snuggled closer towards Zayn, trying his best to fit into Zayn’s arms without messing up with his stitches. He raised his left arm, poking on Zayn’s twice, and once on Zayn’s tummy. 

Zayn chuckled when he realized what Niall was doing. “Ah, I miss our beep, beep, boop.”

Niall grinned, nodding slightly. “Me too, Zayn, me too.”
