you know...i think tumblr actually has my favourite method of showing videos on any social media platform i’ve used on mobile specifically

it’s just so simple. you click the video. you can pause. you can play. no usernames butt in (when i show my mum a video she doesn’t ask me who posted that? because she doesn’t see a name and assume i know them). no outside info butts in. it’s just the video plain and simple. you can mute it. you can increase your volume and decrease it simply. you can rewind without issue. or you can skip ahead. it’s so simple. but it WORKS.

i’ll give tumblr a single point for that one

granted sometimes it’ll get stuck on the video and you can’t pause it or mute it or click off it and it’ll just keep playing and playing until you shut the whole app down and reopen it but eh. it’s tumblr. i expected that.

#instagram is #fuck their video method is always fucking changing and i don't use the app often enough to know where they're currently at #i can't say i'm a fan #you used to click on videos to turn mute off but now you click on videos and they go big but only sometimes not always #and i think you can pause videos on there now? maybe? which is good i guess #but you also get the likes comments share symbols and the user and the caption and stuff at the top #and it crowds it a bit #twitter is more similar to tumblr i guess it does show likes and that but you can click once to make that go away. it's not so bad.#my problem with it is that i don't understand how volume works on it. that sounds weird but if you've used mobile twitter you probably get #where my confusion comes from. you turn volume up. the volume bar goes grey. you click up again. now it goes white. is it a confirming #feature?? like are you sure you want to do that? click again! i genuinely don't know. it's weird to me.#maybe if i knew it wouldn't be so bad but it's weird #i haven't used facebook on mobile but how it works on the browser version has a special place in hell <3 so i don't hold high hopes 4 mobile #i haven't ever used tiktok but from what i've seen from friends i think it has lots of stuff on the screen as well #i mean i get it credit where it's due but it's a little distracting when i just want to see a video #if there's any other apps i probably haven't used them
