Last Seen Alive by Joanna Schaffhausen @syntax6
Another chilling mystery thriller from Joanna. We grow to love each character more, as they learn, change, and grow over the course of the series. Ellery and Reed are two of the most compelling book characters I’ve ever met. After five novels, that’s quite the journey with these two characters.
In this final (?) installment of the series, Ellery’s kidnapper/serial killer, Coben, seems to be killing again… from behind bars? Is it a copycat, an accomplice? Will Ellery and Reed be able to stop the killings and bring closure to the victims?
This novel is pure plotting genius, with plenty of nods to both X-Files and Silence of the Lambs. We are left to question the lengths of media involvement while wondering if Ellery will save the day and herself. Will she ever be free of her tormentor? It’s a long road to recovery from past trauma.
