While yes it is true Peabody is a full time parent with Sherman and doesn't consider adopting another child , it doesn't mean he doesn't have a generous heart when it comes to the matter of children to teenagers.
Peabody lives in luxury. A large home a penthouse on top of a building he owns entirely in its entirety. He allows a few people live inside of his building on the upper levels so there is some sense of normalcy to other buildings in the area. But they are selectively approved by himself to ensure they will not be a bad influence to his son. But with luxury and fame the canine has more money than he knows what to do with.
Because of this Mr. Peabody is a permanent foster parent while raising his son. He opens his home to everyone and will usually take a child or two. If there are siblings he fights very hard to keep them together because the system will tear them apart. He doesn't treat them like other foster families. He treats them as people who have emotions , thoughts of their own and their own schedules. He does his best to ensure they have the space , time and even control they need to feel comfortable.
He attends all their actives , parent events and even teaches them skills depending on their age. For the younger he tutors them seeing he has a degree in child development. And for the older teenagers he knows the best thing they need is space for creativity. So he gives that to them. When it comes to teenagers who are about to age out he also takes them in as well. On their eighteenth birthday he ensures they have everything they need in order to succeed. Either its supporting them through college , helping them find a job or other resources they they might need. He allows them to stay as well for as long as they need until they are settled and on their feet. They are always welcome for holidays , birthday or just because they want to visit.
Since becoming a foster parent, Mr. Peabody has one of the higher successes when it comes to finding children permanent homes. Some are very reluctant to leave and some he has come close to making the decision to adopt them himself. But he knows in the long run the families those children end up in is the best decision and location for them as well. He keeps in touch with a lot of the children he has permission for , but if not he respects that privacy always telling each family his door is open if they ever need anything. Either it be supplies , money or anything else. He might put his son first , but when it comes to each of his foster children he doesn't mind helping without being taken advantage of.
Augustine originally comes from the Sinnoh Region. He grew up in the region with his single mother. Studied under Professor Rowan who he keeps in high regard. But when it comes to thoughts of home , the Kalos region will always be his home. Its where he was able to get the fairy class Pokemon their recognition. Where most of his studies in Mega Evolution are , where he has the most friends.
Yes he misses his mother , his home region because there is nothing like returning to ones roots. The Kalos region will always be where he found himself. And he keeps that in higher regard than anything.
Its where he met all of his Pokemon too. Outside of Garchomp who was still just a Gible at the time. But she evolved and he got to experience Mega Evolution for himself , how it feels with her. So no matter where he goes. He will always return home to Kalos.
MANY CLOWNS ROAM MONTE D’OR. Most are hired for parades, celebrations, and events, but some are from the traveling circus Dalston is fond of. They’re gaudy and loud in both appearance and voice, Angela doesn’t blame the poor girl for being scared. If the Layton home is as quiet as she assumes it is, the City of Miracles must’ve been shocking. At least there are elements Katrielle can enjoy.
“We have quite a busy shopping district, yes, and a diverse selection.” Angela hums, thinking of all the shops she’s seen recently. Some are seasonal and remain open for a limited time, others swap their selections entirely based on trends.
“There are souvenir shops a girl her age may enjoy. Oh, also the market stalls. One can find many exotic candies from all over the world—“ All outrageously priced . . . “—but if she gets bored of shopping, we have rows of stalls with carnival games. Perhaps she would like to test her mettle and win a few prizes?”
Even though they lived in London he had to admit they had a rather quiet upbringing in a way. There wasn't the usual hustle and bustle like he was used to taking a bus ride away to a few streets down. At least Katrielle had other children her age to play with in the Layton home. Now they've moved to the flat ... well they had at least had a place to live. That's what mattered in the long run.
Now when it came to shopping ... well that seemed more up his sister's alley. He never really understood the need to shop as much as his sisters did. Outside of parts for his old Vespa or the more tedious tasks of having to fix the ancient monstrosity that was their father's car he really didn't understand.
❝ She might like the shopping more , but it has been some time since we went to fair so she might forget the shopping and try stuffing herself with fried dough. ❞ That happened last time , good thing he didn't have to worry about that aftermath. Poor Flora. She had been in the back seat that time rather than himself.
❝ Regardless it should be an interesting day. ❞ So long as she doesn't try to run off on her own they shouldn't have an issue. He'd just have to arrange it so she doesn't leave his sight for the day.
@writingtides : ❝ call it divine intervention. i call it multitasking. ❞ (hiccup to freya because it made me giggle)
❝ Refer to it how you wish. I do not call it anything. ❞
The boy has never managed to outgrow his incessant need to fill the few silences that could be found these days with his noise. Atreus had been the same, once, but no longer — and while a part of her heart was saddened to see the light behind those eyes fade away, there was no such connection forged between her and the blacksmith's boy.
❝ Would you mind multitasking elsewhere? ❞ It was less because of him in particular than it was Freya's disdain of doing anything with the old magic in anyone's presence.
He frowns a little about the entirety of it. Freya was interesting to him. From Vanaheim itself , he was interested in learning more about magic even if he just observed and tinkered away as he looks to the goddess then away to his project.
❝ I was just ... probably for the best. ❞ He nods and picks up what he was working on back the hot forge awaiting for him on the opposite side of the house. Maybe pause what he was doing and go out to see the Lyndwrym babies and his own bonded half. ❝ Kind of curious to what you were doing ... with the magic and all that. ❞ His knowledge in magic was based in smithing, small healing and dragons. He was interested in learning more. He was just going to have to snoop from here.
LINGUISTICS ISN’T FLORENCE’S SPECIALITY, but everyday someone totally unlike the last enters Scotland Yard. Mr. Desserts is clearly French and proud. Switching between two languages is not amazing feat, but the man does it with such ease he must show off often. Whatever he’s saying probably isn’t important, as he makes himself clear in English without translating.
TENTATIVELY, FLORENCE TAKES THE CARD. Careful to avoid making contact with his hand. A professor, huh? Sycamore . . . Has she heard that name before? From Dustin, maybe? She’ll look into it later. Florence merely blinks at his polite greeting. His next words, however, get a meaningful reaction: the slightest widening of her eyes. So my hunch was right, she thinks with a thoughtful expression. Just how many siblings are you hiding, Al?
“Little . . . brother?” She repeats, masking her amusement with mild confusion. Al did not act like a little brother whatsoever, she can’t wait to think of jokes to mess with him. Florence visibly relaxes, a small, askew grin on her face. “Yeah, Al and I are friends.”
“. . . I can take my break early. Sure. It’s a slow day anyways. What pastries do you have, Professor?” Oh. Wait. She should introduce herself. “I’m Florence, by the way. I work in the forensics department.”
❝ Merveilleux !J'adore entendre ça. ❞ The professor was ecstatic about hearing that as he grins with her agreeing. And to meet one of Alfendi's friends was just the icing on the cake he had brought to him. As well as other things as well. ❝ Yes little brother. By two minutes. ❞ He corrects himself as he follows the other to sit with her.
❝ Ah you have a career in forensics ?No wonder you and Alfendi get along. I want to know everything. ❞ He smiles as he sits down. Opening the box revealing the cake slices and macaroons for her as he smiles. ❝ I hope you enjoy short cakes !❞ Now he could ask how things had been here while he was out of the country on his most recent study. ❝ You must have some interesting stories to tell. I was abroad finding the first physical discovery of black holes. C'est fascinant, n'est-ce pas ? ❞ He smiles gently.
"I work for a company that prides itself in the scientific field. It wouldn't do if I had failed to recognise a Pokemon Professor. Of course, I shall not forget my manners. My name is Spinel."
"Indeed, this is my Umbreon," he continued, a hand held down towards the Pokemon. "I can't help but notice you're not alone, either. It must not have been easy to train a Garchomp. Most Impressive."
And Umbreon certainly thinks so as well, the Pokemon edging a little closer to Garchomp.
"Bre..."
[ Hello. ]
"Terastallization... Hm? It is an fascinating phenomenon. I've witnessed it many times myself. You've certainly come to the right place. In such a case, I welcome you to our city."
"Have you heard of Area Zero? We've recently started some undertakings within the crater itself."
There was a perk to his attention at the mention of the other that prided itself in the scientific pursuit. But he was not here for work. Some time off , maybe some exploring and watching a regional phenomenon first hand with his little team of Pokemon who accompanied him. ❝ Well its very nice to meet both you and your Umbreon here Spinel. ❞ He smiles gently as he watches Garchomp who was curiously tipping her head at the other smaller Pokemon below then.
❝ Garchomp is a wonderful companion. She is not like other of her kind. While usually Gible evolve with battling , she didn't. She just wanted to be bigger to help around the lab and carry all of our smaller Pokemon on her back and head. ❞ He gives the mon an affectionate rub as she trills happily before reaching a nibbling at his fingers before she moves away to lower herself to greet Spinel's Umbreon.
With the mention of Area Zero the Professor is even more interested now. ❝ I have heard of it. I was hoping one day to get permission to get to explore the area. Be fascinating to see what oddities live in such a unique area. How it plays into current conditions and typing of Pokemon. ❞ He realizes he is rambling on. ❝ I apologize ... I am rambling a bit on aren't I ?❞
He always loved being able to come to the Kingdom of Enchancia to spend time with the royals. Of course he was more excited to see his favorite princess. Sofia. A call of a malfunctioning amulet that cultivated a prosperous alliance with the archipelago and the Kingdom of Enchancia itself. And a sibling like bond began between the two.
Dragon and rider whisked through the air as a familiar looking Pegasus before him appeared. The viking happy to tap the dragon who gave him the gift of the skies to go forward as the two eases up on speed to fly beside the princess and her steed.
❝ Well well looks like you beat us to the skies today huh. How we feeling about revisiting our speed lessons from the last time I was here ? In a race of course so we can see just how fast you've gotten ?❞ He eases up the mask of his flight helmet as he gives the younger a smile. As much as he began to like competing he did have to remember he was still a mentor and older sibling role. It be rude to gloat and hurt her feelings in the end. But nothing like a nice little race to see where things were. Right ?
They had tried to simply remove the girl? Disappear her in between class?
Desmond leans forward, his eyes widening. Good God.
"They what—?! That's not—" He forces himself to reign in his temper, before it ends up misdirected. Desmond's jaw sets, and he forces himself to keep his voice low and controlled. "...That is nothing short of attempted kidnapping."
The mask is burning a hole in his pocket for different reasons now.
First Layton himself had gone missing, and now someone had attempted to kidnap Layton's young daughter. Descole had eliminated the last vestiges of Targent some years ago... or so they had thought, at least. Doubt starts to creep into the back of Desmond's mind. Could some portion have survived? Remained in the shadows until Des let their guard down and they could strike?
...Someone else, looking for leverage against Layton...?
He should've checked in sooner. He should have kept an eye on Layton. Backing off, giving him some privacy to raise his family, keeping their attentions to a minimum—all folly. They shouldn't have stopped.
Don't get ahead of yourself, Des. He realizes he's gripping the armrest in a white-knuckled grip.
"Are you quite positive that this individual was in fact a representative of the government? Did anything seem off about them? For that matter, has anything else unusual happened as of late?"
He watches the other's body movements. The subtle ones at least. He was good at keeping face and he had to admit that was admirable considering the circumstances. There were many things wrong about this whole event and even the teenager knew that taking a child from their school was worrying. But the other things ...
Nothing short of attempted kidnapping ...
So he wasn't paranoid about it. Good. That was a good thing he trusted his gut about it.
❝ I suppose everything about it is off. Its against protocol entirely for them. ❞ He had expressed his complaints at the Yard well , they didn't have a word or an explanation about it either. ❝ As you know the Yard is as useless as it can be. Seeing all the years they've lived off of our fathers tailcoats for cases. ❞ Even useless in his missing persons case. It was utterly disgusting in his opinion.
❝ But they say the documents and card left are authentic. I haven't been able to dig myself considering the situation. I don't dare go anywhere with her after the events at school. Even going to the shops feels like there's a target on our backs. ❞ Again his paranoia was speaking for itself. But it kept them safe and alive.
But there was a question burning. ❝ You have your own thoughts don't you ?Who'd want to take her outside of this ?❞
Soleil looks curiously at the toy dropped before her, sniffing it for a moment before gently patting it with her paw. Not wanting to accidentally damage it somehow, as it seemed important to the other Pokemon.
"...I really have no idea," Mable answers. "Leaving Kalos is...something I never thought I'd be able to do. So I never thought much about where I'd like to go."
As a child, she'd read about other regions, never any real destination in mind, but always wanting to just go see other Pokemon. But once she was taken in by Team Flare, any hopes she'd ever had of traveling were gone. Especially once she found herself in her present situation.
"I've never even gotten to travel Kalos on my own terms," she awkwardly laughs. "...I don't suppose you have any suggestions on somewhere to go?"
Something about him as his positive energy seemed to shit and he looked down at the mons playing with one another. His Pyroar was getting a little more confident in sharing his plush toy as he smiles a bit at the sight. Remembering the adventures he had when he was younger.
❝ Well as you know Mega Evolution is always a topic of research but I'd like to see how its effected in other regions. Maybe in my home region of Sinnoh or even the Kanto region! I hear Professor Oak has amazing Pokemon in his care we could observe. And he has many wise years under his belt as well you could learn from him as well. ❞ He smiles happily. He loved Professor Oak and Rowan. He thinks they'd be great teachers to her.
