My girllll
I have art that I'll post tomorrow but for today take some substandard contrapuntal poems for Barricade Day!!!
Grantaire and Enjolras:
Javert and Valjean:
Fantine and Cosette:
And Gavroche and Éponine:
@barricadeday (no clue if that's just for art sorry if not)
I wanted to post this but forgot, but back to les mis posting for a bit with this Fantine!!
Why is everyone in my family having some weird situationship/romantic drama 😭😭😭
Idfc at least my mom is being cute about it my dads are just. Ew. Get a room oh my god
I drew Fantine before she sold her hair….. I suppose my les mis hyperfixation probably begins now. (Don’t expect anything to change, I’m very inconsistent.)
Something about Jean Valjean saying "I stole bread because my sister's child was close to death" makes me think of Fantine and all the bad things she did just for Cosette. They're so similar and they both love Cosette ugh 😭🩵🩵

A TRAIN?? Even better, it's the Rhinoceros express!
I had to include a steam engine in my steampunk adjacent project, and I thought it would suit the idea of departure perfectly. It's obviously not a direct adaptation of what happens in the book (I'm perfectly aware!) but as a person who frequently commuted via train, there's something inherently melancholic about train rides at sunset, something very final.
So I hope this sells the idea of abandonment well enough for it to be a jump that makes sense!
Personally it's one of my favourite artworks I've made for the project. If you're wondering how I got the strength to draw a whole steam engine like that - well, I'm actully pretty proficient at 3d modelling (thanks art school!), so I gathered some reference material and concocted this amalgamation of a design on Autodesk Maya and prayed to the art gods.
