not posting these on my art blog because I don't want them to look like I'm Claiming Them. not my art!!! I'll be posting the stuff I actually make on there obviously but just Posting Someone Else's Art feels wrong. So it's here.

these are the original van-tribes / cethosia designs by ASTRONAVAN that I will be revitalizing... I think regardless of whether or not I end up writing anything, having a hub of information and base files / art is still really important to me and something I've been thinking a lot about.

here's my very much Just Started website to index things. this will likely be a slow process given. my problems. but I really do keep coming back to it so I think it's good for me to dedicate to putting it back together

The Guide to the Dragons of Liphara

MageWings

Scales: blue, brown, gold, red, purple and many more colours

Eyes: often blue, brown, gold

Unusual characteristics: feathery chests and shoulders, feathery main, feather tipped tail, brow horns, large wings and a three-part hood

Abilities: breathe fire, fly long distances, specialised magic that varies dragon to dragon

Diet: fruits, nuts, any kind of meat except for pork

Habitat: the southern peninsula in the Runic Bay and scattered villages further inland

Naming: after the kind of magic the dragonet can perform, magicless dragonets get general sorcerer names

Queen: Queen Waterwisp

LaceWings

Scales: colourful and shiny, often pale green, blue or variations of gold and brown

Eyes: gold, pale green or yellow, rarely red or brown

Unusual characteristics: long thin wings with an insect-lace pattern, antennae below the horns, a single brow horn and elongated nose horn, powerful necks

Abilities: spin a sticky substance from their wrists to build things

Diet: fruits, cactus, fish, aquatic plants, sea birds

Habitat: coastal areas of Liphara, mostly on the tail of the continent, nearby villages

Naming: aquatic and terrestrial arthropods, snails and other local life

Queen: Queen Aphid

AvyWings

Scales: wide range of colours, often mimicking birds

Eyes: blue, purple, green or yellow, can range into other colours

Unusual characteristics: feathery main, fully feathered tail, partially feathered wings, brow crests, larger toe claw on the inner toe of each foot, only tribe to have a sirynx

Abilities: shoot out feathers that contain venom in the quill, loud scream, powerful bite

Diet: fruits, nuts, berries, any kind of meat except for bird and pork

Habitat: the northern rainforests of Liphara, scattered villages

Naming: birds, extinct reptiles (ex: dinosaurs, pterosaurs), and anything related to those

Queen: Queen Ratite

StoneWings

Scales: muted or dull greys, blues and browns, may occasionally have red or purple, some parts appear to look shiny like polished stones

Eyes: grey, blue or brown

Unusual characteristics: thagomiser at the tip of their tail, sharp spikes on the sides of their neck and tail, chin spikes

Abilities: heat up parts of their bodies to cause severe burns to other dragons, tail spikes, sharp eyesight and breathe fire

Diet: occasional plant matter, mostly cave animals and above ground animals

Habitat: underground cities, one above ground palace, villages both topside and bottomside

Naming: rocks, minerals, mountain formations, blacksmithing and other related things

Queen: Queen Canyon

MistWings

Scales: muted blue, brown or yellow

Eyes: blue, brown, red or gold

Unusual characteristics: spurs, sail most prominent on the tail, paddle tail, strong hind legs, broad flat feet

Abilities: venomous spurs, wing slapping, swimming

Diet: fish, grain, aquatic plants, other land animals

Habitat: floodplains on the western side of Liphara

Naming: native plants and animals, anything related to floodplains

Queen: Queen Oxeye
