for the christmas suggestions - maybe damian trying to come up with a gift for dick? he could ask his brothers for help or come up with something himself. and dick loves it in the end? Just brotherly bonding. if this doesnt spark an idea then thats okay, thank you for reading this ^^

I used this idea for a timdami fic once upon a time but I don’t care i’m using it again haha.

“I know it...isn’t much.” Damian sighed in frustration, kicking his foot along the carpet. “Definitely not equivalent to everything you’ve given me, both in gifts and in my lifetime. It’s not even my best work, but...”

“I love it.” Dick whispered, his eyes misting over as he looked down at the sketchbook that Damian hadn’t even bothered to wrap. Just handed it to him, open to a page filled with a portrait of his parents. Mary and John, standing proud on their trapezes, smiles adorning their faces. It wasn’t more than a sketch, with pencil lines going this way and that, and clear signs of eraser marks, but still: “I absolutely love it, Damian. Thank you.”

And before Damian could respond, the sketchbook was placed on Dick’s knee, and Dick reached out, grabbed him and pulled him into a tight hug. Squeezed him as he practically hid his face against Damian’s shoulder. Shifted just so, so he could still see the drawing off to the side.

“Thank you so, so much.” Dick continued, and there were tears clear in his voice. 

And Damian didn’t quite know what to do. Just awkwardly wrapped his arms around Dick’s shoulders, and let his brother cry into his chest, while praising him for a gift he still didn’t think was all that good.

“You’re welcome, Grayson.”

im not that familiar with his death before the retcon lazarus pit but as far as I know jason was dead when he was buried. only when superboy prime punched through reality jason came back to life and woke up in his coffin. So he was truly dead but was brought back through a punch. it sounds weird so later on DC went with the lazarus pit.

You know these comic books have melted my brain when my first response to reading this was,

“Alright, we’re set for the night. That should be everything.”

Kaito closed the door behind him and stepped into the rundown hut. He held several shopping bags filled with food and other necessities. He nodded in Kei’s direction and set them down.

Kei’s eyes twitched. It’s been a few days since he had called Kaito out of the blue, who didn’t hesitate for a second before running away with him. He should probably feel bad for making his childhood friend involved in this whole mess. That idiot didn’t even ask why on any point during their journey. All he asked was what do you need.

“We should eat and head to bed immediately. Of course one of us should keep watch. We should switch after every few hours…”

Kei kept staring at a dark spot in the dirty wall. Too many thoughts wandered through his mind.

“Say, how can you be so forgiving?”, Kei involuntarily interrupted him.

“What do you mean?” Kai asked while munching nonchalantly on an onigiri. He tossed a second one into Kei’s lap.

“We broke out of town, had police, the press and other fanatics chasing us. We got us- you- nearly killed or worse, nearly locked down for good. Why do you keep helping me?”

Kaito snorted, as if it was the most simple question his friend got to ask.

“You’re my friend Kei. Of course I’ll help my friend when there’s trouble.”

Kei’s eyes turned wide. He made a confused sound. “Haah? Friends? But.. it doesn’t make any sense. I avoided you ever since we entered junior high. And you still count me as one of your ‘friends’. I just don’t get you.”

“You had your reasons,” Kai mumbled, but his face did darken as he remembered when Kei stopped talking to him. School had been rather lonely since then. Kaito quickly discarded the thought.

“I’m an Ajin, for fuck’s sake,” Kei had to keep himself from shouting and exposing their hideout.

There was silence. Kei felt stupid standing in the middle of the room and decided to sit down on the makeshift sleeping bag instead, grabbing the onigiri that had fallen onto the floor in the process.

Finally Kaito answered.

“It could have been worse, you know. You coulda… you could have.. died back then. I wouldn’t want that. So that you’re an Ajin… I’m kinda glad, if that makes any sense.”

Kei couldn’t say anything witty to that. That sentence didn’t leave an option for an argument.

He lied down on the heap of fabric which was partially made out of Kaito’s old hoodie. “Do what you want, then..”, the boy mumbled. Kaito’s carefree grin irritated him even more.
