I just found your blog and I'm amazed!! I love all the dolls and familiars<3

I'm curious, how did you learn sculpting and how long have you been doing it for? I'd like to learn some basics myself, if only to make some extra parts for what I already have:)

i can't give very good tips for learning, since sculpting is not something i've ever actively studied, but something that i've always been doing and gradually gotten better at. crafting has been my hyperfixation since i was a toddler, so my skills have developed organically by doing all kinds of projects.

i started sculpting digitally a bit over a year ago now. my partner had just taken a course in 3d modeling, so they relayed some basic information about blender's functions, like modifiers and the edit mode, to me. i think i watched one youtube tutorial about the sculpt mode, and then just started fucking around and finding out. i found it quite beginner-friendly, and would encourage people to go experiment, with or without a guide. i've also answered some doll-specific questions in the asks tag, and am happy to answer more.

I've been working on the farm for three weeks now, and while the work itself is amazing -super rewarding and makes my heart feel complete, like I was made for it- the people are... not. In particular, one if the owners that's with us and works on the farm full time (unlike his husband who is amazing and I love but works a regular job and is not with us much). I'm getting a lot of snide remarks and such and it's been bothering me much more than when I was working retail. At least there my shift was over in a couple hours- here I'm staying with them for days on end!

Today, after it was particularly bad, I called my teacher. She's overlooking our apprentienceships, so I asked her for advice on how to proceed. There are three options:

1. Stay the whole duration as agreed on at the beginning

2. Stop and do the rest of time needed somewhere else

3. Count hours worked instead of days to shorten your stay (I'm working ~12 hours a day, a work day is 8 hours. That means I've worked 18 work days in 13 actual days and only need 7 more to finish)

I'll bring this up after dinner today. The first option will kill me (feeling suicidal again for the first time in two years yaay), and I don't want to franticly search for another place to work at, so I'm hoping we can agree on the third option, with me working tomorrow and then next week tuesday-sunday. If not, I'm working for the last time tomorrow and then packing my bags and leaving.

I think they're neat. Sometimes I'll slip one into one of my decks with my playgroup and see if anyone notices. (They usually don't.)

2024-grimoire-challenge prep 2, I'm-way-behind boogaloo

So, with a mix of exams and seasonal depression, I missed a whole bunch of weeks! This calls for another prep session to make catching up easier^_^

I went trough all the missed prompts and wrote them out by week, skipping some that I don't care about (celestial/elemental magic is really not my thing). I only wrote down the main themes of the prompts, so knowing what week they are from I can look up the whole thing! This way I can pick and choose topics depending on how much time and energy I have at the moment:)

I'm hoping that by basically having a checklist that I can see and check things off of I'll be able to go trough the prompts more easily and keep up if not even catch up to the challenges!

Working on it between classes^_^

Hopefully I'll be able do to more introspective updates soon!

I don't usually do it, but I took some pics on my walk yesterday:) Mostly to remind myself that spring is coming, even if the weather has been rainy/coudy for over a month now. I miss sun so much!! Also the mushrooms on the first pic remind me of a cactus my mom used to have^_^

I JUST FOUND AN LGBT HANGOUT GROUP THAT'S ACTUALLY CLOSE ENOUGH THAT I CAN GO!!!!¡!!

I'm so nervous I really really really want it to be good I'm so lonely and making friends is so hard as a pre-medical transition trans because because people need a lot of time to start using my pronouns and stuff (if they even do it) and it's just so soulcrushing and makes me depressed cause I'm an extrovert that's basically forced into being an introvert to avoid getting constantly misgendered

I agree, pilot metropolitans are great! I got one for my partner and he loves it. However, I don't like it for myself, because they are quite heavy (metal) and my hand gets tired if I write too much at once. If you already have a metal pen or mechanical pencil you're probably used to the weight so it would be okay for you.

I really like the pilot plumix pen, I got 5 of them xD they are a funky shape (the cap looks like a lil squid!), come in different colors and are see-trough, so you can actually see how much ink you have left. They usually come with an italic nib, but you can find "normal" ones too. Despite their look and price, they're really durable- I've had one of mine for over a decade now (since I was 12?), and the only difference is that it's not as shiny/polished anymore.

Pilot kakuno is similar, different look but also clear barrel. Basically any pilot should work well for you:)

TWSBI eco is a really cool pen that I haven't got myself because people *have* complained about theirs cracking/breaking. I'd get one if you can get it cheap, otherwise I'd skip it.

Platinum preppy is a great budget pen that you can eyedrop-meaning you can just pour the ink into the body and use it that way. It holds a ton of ink and looks cool doing that.

If you'd like to splurge a lil bit more and get a really interesting pen in return, I'd recomment moonman a1 or a2. They are *so cool*, because they don't have a cap but a clicking mechanism like a ballpoint pen would have. I've had mine for over a year now, write with it every day and it hasn't failed me yet. If you don't care about the clip I'd get the version without tho, since mine is annoying sometimes.

Heyhey!

I saw the post about your pens always running out of ink and wanted to ask if you've considered getting a fountain pen? You can get one+a bottle of ink for pretty cheap and it lasts quite a while, plus there's a ton of ink colors to choose from!

I use mine for all my journaling+uni work and a 30mil bottle lasts me over a year:)

For unrelated reasons, I do have a bottle of ink. A fountain pen might be a good investment for me at this rate...

If y'all have any recommendations for brands or specific kinds, let me know!
