It's a shame that most fantasy farming sim RPGs are so squeamish about raising animals for meat because there's such a rich body of folklore concerning Weird Shit Happening to Livestock to draw upon. Like, forget a dungeon crawler minigame – I need enchanted swords and magic potions to deal with whatever is fucking around with the cows!

to those who love farming sims, but want a harder, darker story than the typical farming sim: try Grimshire.

now I know, I know, the characters are animal people, but that's actually part of what makes it so difficult, it's also part of the main storyline, the cute fluffy animals make the story seem a little less heavy, and because the characters are animals, the critters you can ranch are all made up things, which are ADORABLE.

but yeah I'm obsessed with it right now. I'm barely to Summer 4, and I'm already struggling just to make it from one day to the next. it's great.

having seen both trailers, i think mandrake is more "fantasy farming and oh yeah there's eldritch creatures in the woods" whereas grave seasons is more "Something Is Killing People".

i am buying them both
