Burning Skies | Faye & Cerberus
Lifting her nose from the dirt, Enyo’s snout pointed towards the sky. A low growl formed within her throat, as heat formed upon her tongue. Lips pulling back to reveal her massive fangs, as her claws struck the earth beneath her feet, slamming down upon the body at her paws. Shredding the flesh still clinging to the bone, as she dug her nails into the corpse with a growing anger. Tongue flashing across her jaw, mixing saliva with the blood that still clung to her mouth. Sucking the scent that drifted on the wind into her very lungs, It was faint, and she had barely caught it over the stench of the Pokemon at her feet, but it was there. She knew this scent. Recalled it only vaguely in her mind from more years ago than she could count, but even so she recognized it. She would never forget a scent.
The shifting of rock around her tore her attention away from the smell, and she turned her head to the right. Tail wagging, as a low whine extended from her throat, as a man worked his way over the rock to the Pokemon. Sliding down the short incline to where the beast stood in the mountains. A tall shadow behind him, and a golden fox at his side, as he walked over to her. Extending his hands, and running his fingers through her fine fur. “Good work.” The simple praise was enough to make the Houndoom wiggle her body in joy, as she stepped off of the Pokemon, kicking its body with her back paws, as she closed the distance between herself, and her trainer.
Beside him Helios stirred. His tails flaring up, as he lowered his head. Fur on edge, as he looked past the canine. Enyo whimpered loudly, shoving her nose into the fur upon the Ninetales’s neck, as she pushed him back. Nearly knocking him onto Thanatos when she forced him back. The Gengar springing out of the way, as a series of complaints passed through his mouth. None of which either Pokemon had any mind to listen to.
“Tell me, what do you smell?” He knelt down, taking hold of Helios to prevent the poor creature from getting pushed into the ledge by Enyo. “Are there more curious onlookers?” He shifted his fingers through Helios’s fur, rubbing his back, as he looked at Enyo, Her intense eyes left his, as a snort fell from her mouth. “No? Something more interesting then?” She flicked her tail at him, turning away from her trainer, and starting to walk away.
“Very well.” He shoved himself back onto his feet. “Helios, will you track down the intruder in her place?” The fox’s ears twitched, and he slipped out from Cerberus’s hold just in time to doge the incoming teeth that snapped the air where he had been seconds ago. Powerful jaw opened, as a terrible snarl came from the Houndoom’s body. Thanatos came to Helios’s side, eyeing the enraged Houndoom, while trying to keep the two Pokemon from fighting.
“So, it’s something that interesting?” Cerberus mused, stepping between his Pokemon. “You two go, and make sure all of our unwanted guests have been dealt with. I believe Enyo, and I have one final person to greet.” Helios, and Thanatos vanished as soon as the command was given, leaving Cerberus with a very angry, and very upset Houndoom.
“Will you lead me?” Huffing, the Pokemon turned around, and began marching in the direction of the scent. The mountains were vast, and difficult to scale, but he knew them well, as did his partner. Her powerful legs easily gliding over the rock without concern for her human partner, who pursued her with a skilled ease. Leading him down a twisting path that brought him to a ledge, and beneath that ledge he spotted a face that had only haunted his dreams the past ten years.
“Good morning, Faye, it’s been so long.” Enyo lowered her head, a growl emerging from her throat, as she watched woman, standing between her, and Cerberus with murderous intent.
