So there's a box in the mail, addressed to Dick. Thing is, the postman didn't drop it off. Either way, it's a plain brown package, taped up securely and labeled in a hasty scrawl. Inside, there's a small box wrapped in bright red paper with a blue bow on it and a note.

Hey, Happy birthday man. Sorry I couldn't tell you in person, but things are nuts at home. Besides, I figured you'd want to spend your day with guy or something. Anyway, hope you like this. You can go ahead and open it. We can meet up and I'll explain, if you want.

In the wrapped box is a pair of necklaces.

A package arrives in the mail.  Inside is a photo album with the title "Our Friendship."  Inside are all the photos, each with its own caption.  On the front cover is a note:

Driving home for Christmas OR baby it's cold outside

The holidays were always strange times for their kind.  Family-oriented days could become painful reminders of things lost.  It seemed like this year especially things were getting pretty lonesome.  It wouldn't take long for him to reach Bludhaven.  A quick trip to pick up some breads, some pizzas, and some soup later, Wally knocked on Dick's door, precariously balancing the food.

Dick opened the door slowly.  "Wally?  What're--"

"I thought you might like some company.  Y'know, since you're..."  Wally shrugged, a movement that almost became a very bad idea.  It was only thanks to both of their quick reflexes that the food didn't fall.

Dick smiled softly.  "Thanks, Walls.  I'm glad you're here."

Food was laid out, drinks were passed around, and finally they were sprawled on the couch, eating and chatting happily.  Slowly, all the food was eaten and Dick and Wally had made their way closer to each other.

Dick sighed, resting his head on Wally's shoulder.  "Thanks for coming out here, Wally.  I really appreciate it."

Wally shrugged, shifting slightly.  "Yeah, I... I figured you need it, you know."

Dick kissed Wally's cheek in understanding.  "Yeah, I know.  Thanks."

Wally looked sideways at him for a moment, unsure how to respond.  Finally, he sighed, relaxing into Dick's embrace.  "Yeah...  Thanks, too."
