When the internet first came out, how much money did you make off of it?

It makes sense that the initial profits will go to the pioneers of the technology, but when it comes to technological democratization, it often requires a lot of savvy or domain knowledge to really go deep and exploit the technology for personal gain. Most people don't have that time, and by time the technology trickles to the common person in a way that it's point and click, the next big thing is coming out. Corporations and power-users typically reap the rewards. Technology is a tide that usually lifts all boats, but that gives no promises about equitable outcomes. And don't even get me started on cryptocurrency.
