A sheet of paper sank to the floor by Klonoa’s feet. Usually he would disregard the piece, but the fact that littering wasn’t really common and it looked like it had fallen out of a book convinced the boy to pluck it off of the ground.

“It is finally Day 3,003.

All of my work has finally lead to this. With Lephise in my power and that mercenary offering me assistance there is little between me and the end of Phantomile. They may never realize that it is an act of mercy, though if they are willing to deny something as important as nightmares they will never be aware.

Freedom has given me so much. I was able to breathe the fresh air of Breezegale once more. I felt reinvigorated, though my efforts were challenged by what appeared to be a Phantomilian child. I knew immediately though that he didn’t belong here, however. I recognized a look of determination in the boy’s eyes. He was willing to protect a world that wasn’t even his own.

I did not busy myself with speaking to him, but in hindsight I wish I would have. Perhaps it is just Joka’s lack of skill, but I also may have underestimated him. It does not matter. This child will surely perish in his pursuit of me. He is just as foolish as the others, casting away nightmares in favor of pleasant dreams. I would feel disgust, but at this moment I don’t feel anything.”
