Losing my Dad at 24 years old unexpectedly has shaped me in ways I still probably can’t fully understand. . I was just 6 months out of grad school, 5 months into my first time job, I had just started a whole new life in the same state at my Dad. So much was just beginning at the same time a huge part of my life ended. . I am who I am today because of what I’ve been through. My Dad and I were as close as we’d ever been when he died. It’s been 11 years since our last Father’s Day. The ache of losing him has softened quite a bit and it’s not usually the noteworthy days that hurt, it’s more the out of the blue memories that do. . What I actually hate the most in these last 11 years is how many people in my life have joined the “Dead Dad’s Club.” It’s a special and awful bond that you don’t know can exist until you know. Thinking of those folks who are without today either by death or lack of a relationship. . #fatherlessdaughter #loss #grief #recoveryjourney #fathersday https://www.instagram.com/p/Byx4ixyBdl_/?igshid=1xt60arxstclm
