Just food for thought but what if Capitano is just a ghost that possesed an old armor(maybe even his own)?
Well now you've got me thinking of the phantom armor from Legend of Zelda, it would be interesting to consider what he was before the armor.
The thing about Capitano is that there's a pretty solid chance that he's could be:
a. Stupidly handsome
b. A literal void
c. Some sort of abyss creature
And I've seen a lot of posts floating around saying "something something bloodstained knight". And for this very reason, I'm betting my kneecap and what little sanity I have left that he's some sort of ghost or ancient entity, because that would be awesome and an excuse to give him a good ol' tragic backstory. I'm a sucker for tragic knights and old heroes, so that would fit very nicely in my book.
But just the principle of him haunting his old armor in pursuit of some past duty that he still clings to... Delicious. I'm shoving the idea into my mouth as we speak. Even if the person he swore to serve is long dead, his loyalty is the kind that spans lifetimes. His service to the Tsaritsa is merely a stepping stone, an avenue in which he directs his strength.
Perhaps he's forgotten what he fights for, but he continues regardless. Someday he'll remember. That'll be the day he finds peace.
what is the nightmares that dottolone and babyttore tend to see often?
Oh goodie, my favorite!
In terms of nightmares, these three are the holy trinity of having a bad time. While Babytorre's own nightmares are usually small potatoes compared to Dottore's, Pantalone's take the cake for most horrifying.
The thing about Dottore is that he rarely dreams in ways that make sense. His dreams are quite literally delusional or completely out of pocket, and have no actual plot. When he does have nightmares, they are greatly exaggerated and usually just cause him to blink awake. Usually, if it's a nightmare, it's nothing traumatic, just something that shocks him enough for him to wake up. The most notorious is the time he woke up shouting "Don't be pregnant!". Pantalone was confused. Very confused.
Babytorre's nightmares are a sliding scale from normal kid nightmares to distorted memories of his time in the lab. Often featuring Mondstadt clone, as he was a major player in making Babytorre's life miserable. Babytorre also has vague recollections of being injected with something, which often manifests in dreams as him being tied down to a table and injected with the weird liquid that burns. He tries to tell them that it hurts, but they aren't listening, just laughing as he cries in pain. He often wakes up crying himself, tiptoeing into Pantalone's room while trying to make as little noise as possible. But his little hiccups always give him away, and he ends up full on bawling in Pantalone's arms within two minutes.
Pantalone's own nightmares are of the future, and often include him being executed in some way. Figures dance around, cheering as he's dragged to the chopping block, his failures being screamed in his face as he's dragged through the faceless crowd. It always ends up with the blade coming down on his neck, and he wakes up in a cold sweat, feeling his neck to make sure it's still there.
In other dreams, he's dying slowly, bleeding out onto the frozen tundra around the palace. There's no one there, just him. And the silence, the steady drip of his blood into the snow making it melt slightly.
There's a myriad of different nightmares he has, but they always end in his own demise.
A particular accident involving this was a very disgusting night, in terms of weather. It's not often that the wind howls so loudly or the walls shake from the force of thunder, but the other Archons are not pleased with Her Majesty, and now the Harbingers must suffer the consequences.
Pantalone had been working all day, to the point that he pretty much passed out immediately as soon as he hit the bed, leaving Dottore to fully pull the blanket over him. The Doctor himself wasn't tired- in fact, he was wide awake, laying in bed and staring up at the ceiling as the sound of wind battering the palace distracted him from sleep.
After a little while, Pantalone started to sweat and wiggle a little in his sleep. Dottore didn't know what was going on, Pantalone usually sleeps like a rock (unless you put your cold feet on him) and it was very unusual for him to mutter so intensely.
Scooting closer to hear what Pantalone was muttering, Dottore was surprised to not hear anything about cold feet, but instead:
"I don't want t' die... Please..."
Time passes, Pantalone only seems to get more agitated over time. Dottore even pokes him a few times to try and wake him up, no luck. It gets to the point where Pantalone is practically babbling, begging whoever it is in his dream not to kill him.
That's when he finally wakes up, he's violently gasping, almost hitting Dottore in the face. Eyes watering, eyes panicked- the whole shebang.
He doesn't explain. And Dottore doesn't ask. They just lay in the silence for a while, until Dottore finally inches closer and pulls Pantalone towards him.
"You won't die. You're mine, Regrator. You don't go until I say you go."
Even though it's moderately possessive, it's comforting nonetheless.
Later Babytorre walks in and finds the two sleeping in a pile and completely dead to the world. He smiles. He knows.
Did I maybe compile their main traits in a diagram? Yes.
Forgot to add sexy in the middle.
Capitano Being The Most Chill and Violent Man I Ever Did See- The Headcanons
Gather round my cult, because it's time for my Capitano headcanons (as per a request from @doxomoxo)! I love this man, and I've been hiding it for too long so here we go!
"Put out the light, and then put out the light: If I quench thee, thou flaming minister, I can again thy former light restore..."
-Overall, doesn't talk much. When he does talk, it's straight to the point, as he hates wasting words on useless topics. When he does have an order to issue, it's short and precise, though he sometimes uses "noble" language because of his upbringing.
-He would definitely carry a greatsword, change my mind. While I see a lot of claymore Capitano, I think he'd be better suited for a greatsword. While a claymore technically is a variant of a greatsword, I think that Capitano would be better suited for the classic two handed greatsword:
-He's actually quite attractive under the mask, despite his scarring. Hunk material for sure. He does have some pretty intense scarring on the right side of his face, but most don't know about it, as he's never been seen without it. He considers these scars as a shameful failure, and will not show them to anyone, as they are proof of his weakness, which he cannot afford. (Either that or he's a littler void but... I'm going to go with the safest option here.)
-He's definitely a knight archetype, not to mention his obsession with honor. To him, combat is sacred, and to have it disgraced is something of a personal offense. He does not lose his temper easily, but forgoing honorable combat will not get you on his good side. In fact, it'll get you more than what you bargained for.
-He's polylingual, from being stationed in a variety of nations. As a major player in the Tsaritsa's military force, he has been deployed dozens of times, to ensure that everything runs smoothly. As a result, he has picked up several languages from around Teyvat, and can speak moderately well in most of them. The only issue is that he keeps forgetting the word for egg in all of them. Which really is an issue, but it's kind of annoying in very particular situations.
-He's tall. Impressively so. I'd definitely put him on the higher end of the six foot range. He towers over the other Harbingers, and knowing that Tartaglia is only 6'1", Capitano just picks him up and puts him down a distance away so he'll stop bothering the Captain about fighting him.
-Would definitely be into classical theatre and plays, especially the Genshin equivalent to Shakespeare. Just because a lot of them have to do with honor and death.
-Exceptional in combat, definitely. Likely the leader of the Tsaritsa's military, not to mention that he has the build for some serious damage- If he takes you down, you're staying down. There's a reason he's so high ranked among the Harbingers, and it's not because he schemed and plotted, no. It's because he's an absolute unit that could cave your trachea with two fingers.
-He's often found alone, but when he does want company, he often goes to Sandrone, as she's quiet and allows him to simply sit in her presence. Nothing romantic or anything, just two Harbingers enjoying a comfortable silence together. Sometimes, he even lends a hand with any bolts that won't unstick, or lifts something heavy for her.
-He's a master of military strategy too, which comes with commanding the Tsaritsa's forces. Often he'll play chess with Pierro, just for the formation aspects and abstract thinking it provides him. He has yet to win, but he's not far from beating Pierro at long last.
-When he cares for something, he's gentle with it. In the past, he's been known to break things that are fragile with his underlying strength, and he doesn't wish to break the things he holds dear. This often includes people, which is while he maintains a physical and emotional distance from others that could match him at an intimate level, not just a professional one.
-I like to think that he can get caught up in battle, sort of like a barbarian's rage. Bloodthirsty, irrational, the whole shebang. He loses himself in battle, covered in blood and acting like a feral animal, his composure thrown to the wayside. Once he comes down from this "high", he's absolutely exhausted, though he never shows it.
There you go, some thoughts on Capitano! I really like him as a character, though there's not much that we know about him so far. I have a feeling he might be one of my favorites in the future.
Dottore showing Tartaglia is Childe sock puppett
"The similarity... it's almost uncanny."
"One of them is on drugs, and so are you."
"Oh come on, I captured the ginger, didn't I?"
"...I hate that you're right."
