You've learned a thing or two while being held captive by the Night Circus. Some things are expected of you, of course, for example your utmost compliance when it comes to not escaping your newfound family. It's for your own good, you must surely understand.
Yet outside of this, it's actually quite easy to demand everything else: the Circus cast can never say no. They love you too much, you see, they adore their Darling Columbina to an extent where any refusal is punishable treason. You were made to be spoiled by them. The Ringmaster, in particular, is quick to bend to your will, especially when you threaten to be upset.
"Beloved, it's simply too dangerous," he coos, stroking your hair with his long, crooked claws. "I cannot be sure that the Beast will behave."
"You have my word for it," you retort, stomping your foot against the plush of the carpet. "Or is it that you're unable to contain him if he's out of the cage? I hoped the Ringmaster himself is all-powerful enough, but if you fear him too much..."
You pout, then promptly turn around and walk away with a theatrical sigh. The Ringmaster grits his teeth in despair. Ah, you've truly wounded his ego this time.
"Alright, alright, if you so desire it. I will not allow an unhappy Columbina to dwell these tents. You may have your little tea party."
It almost feels like a dream - the lock of the cage opens, and the chains drop to the ground with an echoing rattle. The gargantuan beast crawls out of its confines under the envious, burning stare of the other artists.
"Well, off with you, then!" Harlequin shoos him with a grimace, unable to hide his contempt. "I don't know how you convinced Columbina to even throw a glance in your direction, cursed creature. It's their flaw, a heart too kind. You better not break it," he concludes with a waving finger.
"One can only imagine the wonderous joy of sharing a table with Columbina, for I will never know," Pierrot wails down the hall in his usual tone of misery.
The monstrous fiend, Il Capitano, stands before you, nearly drooling at the sight. At last, he can savour your presence without the oppressing iron bars. It’s the closest to freedom he might ever get. Although, if he is to be honest, he’s been feeling free ever since you joined the Circus, ever since you laid your eyes on him.
“We should make this a regular thing,” you add, oblivious to his ardent thoughts. “Care for some tea?”
You watch as his massive hand struggles to lift the small, dainty porcelain cup, wondering if you should offer to help. Nonsense. He’s handled much more fragile things. You.
This is 100% what happened in canon (trust)
Sleep well, Thrain.
5.3 broke me to the point I've spoiled my entire weekend drawing instead of working on reports... But it's all worth it :')
Can't say I didn't see it coming tho... Also I made some sketches (of Mavuika too, but it'll wait) so I might as well share them
I dont care if you all hate each other thats your family now
