Finally finished a rough little reference for Steve and Eli in the Monster Kids AU! Steve is a deer faun, while Eli is a bat-humanoid hybrid.

Jim's close circle of friends and family aren't the only ones to notice weird things starting to occur. Hunting down answers while your own body begins to betrays you only incurs more pressure to unfold the mystery.

some monster kids au headcanons because I Can(TM)

k tho these will for the alternate route of this au (which i like and i think will become the main part of it) that it was an effect from an ancient troll disease that spiraled into half of Arcadia having it

since snow leopards tails (which jim is based off of) are super fluffy, its usually grabbed at by really small children/animals. he doesn’t really mind too much until they start hurting him, and he just subconsciously wraps it around one of his legs before continuing with what he was doing.

when toby sleeps, he turns to a solid stone statue. if he is on top of you in the slightest (an arm for example) you are there till he wakes up

claire at first didn’t know how to feel about the ‘loosing the use of apposable thumbs and getting wings for arms instead’ thing. she of course, learned how to evolve like many others

when jim was still affected with the disease that started it all, he wasn’t easily in control of his actions, and accidentally scratched toby’s arm. he still regrets ever doing so, and hates seeing the thin scars from it (they fade even more every day though)

when the whole outbreak started, no one was sure how anyone would react to the new looks. then kids were just showing up and showing off their features, and it soon became a little less awkward.

steve is a faun, but with a deer. thats it i just wanted to say that. -also he has antlers that knock into things like- all the time

the transformation, different for each, is still intensely painful. since bones/organs/anatomy is all changing. -once its over though, theres a very relaxed nirvana feeling though, like a huge weight was lifted off of you and then most usually sleep off the pain.

when toby was looking over jim’s ‘new’ hands and claws slid out of his fingers, they were both so SUPRISED HO LY

since this was such a rare and old disease, most of the trolls were unprepared for when their ‘human’ trollhunter wasn’t so human anymore. and neither were his friends.

jim toby and claire often (after learning how) take short flight together. sometimes in trollmarket they race one another.

imagine how long it took to learn to fly for each of them. how many band-aids and makeshift changes they had to make. imagine the joy of just gliding and getting the hang of it.

when the outbreak just started, jim had to wear a hoodie to hide the snowy coloured ears that did not blend into his dark hair. after more people started to get used to it, he stopped wearing it slowly, then altogether.

eli is a little dwarf. lil pointed ears and just small feature changes. meddles in future predicting, but usually comes off as a bit off. he tries v hard though.

since the disease is spread through physical contact, and no one knew at the time what was even happening, the public high school has the highest amount of monstra.

more headcanons tomorrow, but for now, this is all i’ve got!
