Faun Corset Embroidery
Magic Rose Tutorial
Tutorial for my magic rose from beauty and the beast :)
I bought this for my magic rose because it was so cheap but I only used the glass dome.
My boyfriend cut out the wood for me and I painted it in a darker colour.
To have it lighted I placed a light string into the rose. The rest I wrapped around the stem. But first I drilled a hole into the middle of the wood and put the light string through it.
Now the stem lighting was way to bright.
So I wrapped green masking tape around the light string.
Fur Pants Tutorial
First I made a pattern by wrapping myself into cling film and masking tape. I cut myself free on the sides of my outer and inner legs and in the middle of my crotch. Now I had 4 pattern pieces, 2 of the left leg and 2 of the right.
For the fabric I bought a fur blanket. That was way cheaper than buying fur.
I layed the pattern pieces of one leg onto the double laying fabric.
Next I tried to cut out the fabric pieces but my parents dog thought it was too cozy :D :D
This is a little scetch to show how I sewed the 4 pieces together. First (1) I sewed together the outer front and back sides of the pants together. Next (2) I layed the right sides of the front onto each other and sewed the crotch line, the same you must do for (4) the butt seam. Ant last (3) sew the inner leg front and back together.
The pants were slipping down a lot so I added a waistband. To close the pants I sewed to the left side a zipper.
Elsa Train Tutorial Part 1
I bought 5m blue organza fabric, a lot of glitter (40ml in diamont colour) and fabric glue (I took one to spray but I don't recommend that because it never really dried and my train is now full of dirt and blurred glitter. It is not as bad as it sounds).
I didn't made any pattern for my train but it worked out :D.
In total my train has 5 pieces, after cutting them out I sealed each one with a zig zag stitch with small width so the seam is not that visible. You have to be very careful with the fabric, mine unravelled fast. For the middle piece I took my folded fabric and pinned it to the middle of my puppets back. Then I just cut it out as I thought it would look good and like Elsas train, I unfolded the fabric and pinned it again to the puppets back. For the next two pieces I took the folded fabric (so I have the same piece for each side), pinned the upper edge to one side of the puppets back and the side of the fabric to the side of the middle piece so they have the same length. Then I just cut it out and sewed the two new pieces to each side of the middle one with a zig zag stitch. After that I did the same thing with the last two pieces.
In the second picture you can see my finished train.
I made a lot different fold snowflakes (while I was watching Dr Who). There are many patterns at google pictures how to cut out the folded paper. The easier ones I made up. Look out that the paper you use is not too thick because it gets hard to cut through all the layers.
But you can't use those snowflakes for the lower part of the train. You have to use them as stencils to cut the snowflakes out of paper as you can see in the next picture.
First I sprayed the glue to the fabric and then put the stencil on it. Next I poured glitter over it and pulled of the stencil. With that glue it was easy to get the stencil off but I would try that on a different piece of fabric first.
And that is my lower part of my train.
After I started the upper part with the other stencils I ran out of glue and the convention was close, so I didn't made it to buy a second can.
I will post some pictures when I finished it and some of the pattern I made for the rest of the upper part. And I hope I can find a solution for my 'the glue does not dry' problem.
Alice Madness Returns Dress Tutorial
Alice Liddell was my first cosplay, I am really proud of how it turned out. Back then, I think it was 4 or 5 years ago, my mum helped me sewing the hard parts :D
I will make an own tutorial for the apron.
This blue dress I sewed with a pattern I bought online http://www.burdastyle.de/burda-style/damen/retro-kleid-top-sommerkleider_pid_1100_8784.html (link to the pattern but it is German) (the puffy sleeves I improvised). I recommend to buy a pattern and change it to your wants because it is a lot less effort.
When you make your own pattern is it really useful to have a puppet so you can pin your fabric onto it and mark the borders with chalk.
I bought 2,5m blue cotton fabric and - how wide your fabric is, normally 114 or 140cm; lace ribbon.
Sewing: At first you have to sew the dart then sew both back parts to the left and right of the front. Then you have to fold the skirt, pin the folds with needles and iron them. When you are ready, sew with half of your seam allowance over the folds. Next sew the skirt to your front and back and the lace ribbon to the bottom of the skirt.
After that, pin the left side of the zipper to the left side of the dress and the right side to the right. Before sewing the zipper to the dress you have to sew the back seam of your skirt, up to where the zipper ends, together.
Then fold both sides of the sleeves to the needed size, pin the folds, sew once over them and iron them.
You can also gather up the fabric.
Next fold and iron the ribbon, that is around your arm in the end, once in the middle and sew the edges together that you have a circle. Then sew the ribbon and the sleeve together.
At last sew your sleeves to your dress.
