A short onshot for @flufftober Flufftober Spring edition 2026
Day 14 - “I never want this to end”/ Alt prompt : Favourite flower
“Oh My God!!!! Look!!!! Daffodils!!!!”
Zoey ran over to the flowers, dragging Baby with her.
The two were going for a small stroll in the park when a huge field of daffodils caught her eye.
And if you knew Zoey, turtles weren’t the only things she ever liked
She crouched down and traced the edge of the yellow petals with her soft fingers. Her eyes were filled with admiration and pure joy as she squealed at the sight of them.
…And this…
…Made it very hard for Baby to look away from her.
“Did you know that there are at least 25 different types of daffodils species in the world and up to 13,000 hybrids (which is a lot) and they are the official flower to give a couple on their 10 wedding anniversary and….”

…the black curly waves in her hair when she let them down (for once)…
…and that beautiful voice of hers…
“…also squirrels don’t eat them because there are poisonous crystals in them and they can withstand cold regions. Also, did you know that gifting a bouquet of them is good luck but only giving one means bad luck?I think that’s weird because they are basically the same flower but they’re still the most beautiful flowers in the world don’t you think?”
Baby let out a small hum
“Maybe… but I’ve seen prettier”
Zoey turned her head towards him and let out an exaggerated gasp, earning herself an eye roll from the demon himself.
How could someone not like daffodils?!?!
“WHAT! WHAT ARE THEY!?!?”
Zoey was ready to defend these exquisite flowers with as many facts as she can remember.
However,
She wasn’t expecting was for him to leave a soft quick kiss on her cheeks and whisper-

Some might recognise the Victorian practise of sending secret messages to your paramour with flowers, either real or in images.
Is there a message you want to send to someone special? Or do you just want to send out a message without being too obvious about it?
Find the meanings and their corresponding flowers. You can go out and buy or pick these flowers, if you know where to look. Take a photo, or sent a collage of photos of these flowers and challenge them to work out your message.
You can choose whether or not to tell them the names of the flowers, but half the fun is finding what kind of flowers they are.
