i shall attempt to describe
i dont take many photos of things unless I want to share them but I want to share this, except I did t have my phone at the time so I shall attempt to describe it.
It was June, and I was on holiday. I had gone with my Scout troop to Denmark (I know, snazzy) for our summer camp. The days had been miserable the first few days, a veritable flood of water, but on the third day the clouds cleared off and me and my friends awoke to the warm sun on our backs.
We ate and played and did our chores without complaint; it was like the whole camp was sunny and smiling. We were on a part of the campsite that overlooked the lake leading to the ocean, and much of the day was spent laughing a joking and watching the crabs, catching them and fishing up the empty shells. We all were giddy on freedom, and it was so beautiful- long, lazy days by the sea, dipping our feet and idly chatting, playing tag and battling with driftwood.
On the fifth day I had just finished washing up dinner, as I had dismissed my patrol to go and have fun. For ages I had heard them having fun and skimming stones off at the sunset while I cleaned up. The lake was reflecting the most gorgeous sunset and the breeze was cool and warm- it was a perfect evening. When I finally joined them they were doing a competition of sorts- a talent show. None of the adults were around, so kids danced, juggled coconuts, sang duets and climbed trees. Eventually, a boy dragged me up and they all chanted for me to show a talent, so I did something I hadn't shown any of them before; I sang.
It's a simple song, quite impressive, and I will not deny that I am an excellent singer. When I finished, every kid on that trip was staring at me wide-eyed and I got a standing ovation. Kids in grass clapped, kids braiding each other's hair had stopped and one kid fell off his tree branch (he was fine). It wasn't a jaw dropping performance, but I think it was more the shock of hearing the likable big sister of the group, who did odd jobs and was always warm and inviting to all the kids, annoying or not, actually have a skill so many desired that she used so infrequently.
When I looked to the adults tent, I had caused quite a stir. A few leaders were there watching and, when most kids had long since gone to sleep, and the cool night air was tinged with the first drop of cold, a leader approached me and showed me a picture he had taken on his high-resolution camera.
It was me, albeit from a distance but still clear and sharp, haloed in bright golden sunlight so it was hard to see me. He had snuck into the back of the group to take the picture and slipped off. I had my eyes closed, my face was calm, and I was surrounded by the most gorgeous pastel sunset, painting the skies pink and gold. Leaves were just visible and a few fallen petals were dusted behind me. You couldn't get a better picture of me anywhere. It was just me, lost in a picturesque sunset that crowned me the winner.
I think about that photograph a lot, and even now, many moons later, it remains my favourite memory from that trip, or any trip i have ever gone on.
(for those who wish to know, the song was Mama Who Bore Me from the musical the Spring Awakening)

Since I had a really shit day at uni today, I want to counterbalance this by remembering my absolute favourite moment at uni. I was in my second year and my friend brought a new dude (his new roommate at the time) to join our group. And these two were paying 0 attention, instead they were discussing very seriously throughout the lecture. As soon as the lecture ended, my friend's roommate turned to me and asked:
You see this blonde guy at the door??? In all objectivity, isn't he incredibly handsome???!!
These two guys were literally disussing whether this blonde guy was hot or not for 90 minutes.
You think this story ends here? wrong. The next semester I had a seminar together with my friend and his roommate - and guess what, handsome blonde guy was in our seminar, too. You should have seen roommate's face when he saw him again. Oh boy. One time after the seminar, we all got to the door at the same time and blonde guy literally bumped into roommate friend. It was a fanfiction unfold right there, my friends. I've never seen anyone blush in real life like that. It was so cute!! Roommate friend was always so excited to go to the seminar and he'd be devastated whenever the blonde guy didn't show up.
Time-worn Letters
JuminV Week Day 3 - Letters | Favourite Memory
Tried something different... I'm not sure why, and I'm not sure if I was successful. ^^;; I think this drabble sort of fits both prompts! 😄 I tried; enjoy!
Word Count: 693

Time cap·sule (noun) : a container storing a selection of objects chosen as being typical of the present time, buried for discovery in the future.
While not buried, the shoe box sized container was just that. A time capsule of memories filled to the brim with letters from days past. All were from one person: Jihyun Kim. Jumin's most precious friend and closest companion.
He often found himself perusing the box when nostalgia would reign. They had been exchanging letters since they were at least eight years old. It had become a custom, and made it much easier to reflect on times past.
Letters hailed from when they were apart due to family business, cards from Christmases and birthdays, even some of Jihyun’s early drawings and photographs were in the box. They spanned over years of time.
Jumin pulled one of the earlier letters out, carefully re-reading it for the hundredth time.
---------
Jumin!!
I miss you. I hope you come home soon. It's not the same without you here. I am so lonely. We were drawing in class today! I can't show my dad, but I can show you. Hurry back!!!
🌞
Jihyun
----------
Fingers traced the art. While definitely not something you would see in a museum, it was Jihyun’s. That fact in of itself would make Jumin send it on exhibition worldwide should the mint haired man have wanted. Carefully placing it back in the box, he continued his journey into the past.
There were happy memories. Sad memories. They were all there, captured in Jihyun’s handwriting. Most included the sorrow of distance in them as well, as did his return letters to Jihyun. Absentmindedly Jumin wondered if Jihyun had kept his letters the same way he had. That thought in mind, he pulled another letter from the box.
---------
Dear Jumin,
I hope your studies are going well. Things are still very much similar back home. I will be holding my first exhibit shortly. For photography of course. Your praises are apparently shared by others, though I still have a lot to learn. I am thankful you have supported me for so long and continue to do so, even though there is a physical distance now.
Once you return to Korea, we really do need to meet up for coffee and catch up. While the letters have helped, it isn't the same as conversing in person. I want to hear all about what it is like studying abroad from your own lips. I look forward to that time.
Your friend,
Jihyun "V" Kim
----------
Jumin read the letter, pausing occasionally to decipher the chicken scratch that was Jihyun’s handwriting. “Your penmanship really is poor. It didn't improve much since childhood.” He quietly smirked, setting that letter to the side. “...I would still give anything to read it again.”
As he reached for another letter, he heard movement behind him. “Jumin?” A soft spoken voice called out.
Abandoning his objective, he carefully closed the box and stored it away. “I am here my love.” He smiled, turning in his chair and standing to meet with the same mint haired man's letters he was just reading. He pulled him into his embrace, resting his forehead against his soft hair.
While there may be no more letters to come from those delicate hands, he was still here, those same hands now intertwined with his. Things could have turned out so much differently at Mint Eye, but now Jihyun was safe with him, and that is how things would stay.
“What were you doing? I hope I didn't interrupt anything.” The former photographer questioned, smaller hands grasped onto larger ones searching for answers. Jumin carefully caressed his cheek, guiding faded mint eyes to his steel.
There may be no more letters, no more photographs, and no more pictures, but there would still be memories. Both those saved from the past, and the new ones the two men would create together. Placing lips against his temple, he held Jihyun closely. His childhood friend, his closest companion, his lover.
“Of course not, I was just reading through some letters. You are always a welcome distraction.”

For Gang 3, favourite drink, favourite food, favourite place, favourite memory
Oooh hoo, I love these!
Favourite Drink- (I’ve included both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks!)
Damian: Alcoholic: He likes red wine. Non-alcoholic: He is a coffee drinker, but he likes coca-cola too. Cain: Alcoholic: Cocktails - Mojito is his fav. Non-alcoholic: Either lemonade or tea.Jenna: Alcoholic: She doesn’t really like alcohol. Non-alcoholic: Hot chocolate.Jesse: Alcoholic: He likes a pale rum. Non-alcoholic: Dr PepperZara: Alcoholic: She’ll pretty much drink anything alcoholic. Non-alcoholic: Coffee, definitely. Aleksander: Alcoholic: Vodka, definitely. Non-alcoholic: He has to avoid caffeine and most of the time, but he does like tea/herbal tea, and sparkling water.Murray: Alcoholic: His fav is rose wine. Non-alcoholic: Orange cordial.
Favourite Food -
Damian: He’s found these gluten free oatcakes that he absolutely loves. Cain: Pasta, pretty much any sort (he always felt guilty because of Damian). Jenna: Pretty much anything she can eat, food is more of a chore than anything for herJesse: Chocolate cake, without a doubt. Zara: Of all time, she loves pomegranate. Aleksander: He loves cheese but it pretty much always triggers his CVS so he can’t eat it very often. Murray: He’s got a proper sweet tooth, he loves jelly sweets and gummies (but he tries to be v good because of his dancing).
Favourite place - (I wasn’t sure whether you meant like small scale or larger, so I’ve done both)
Damian: In small terms he loves being in the hospital on placement because its just where he has always wanted to be. On a larger scale, he once visited Wales as a child and he’s kinda thought he might move there after uni. Cain: The library is his fav small place... Actually Cain loves the city he currently lives, Edinburgh, he’s just really comfortable there. Jenna: She loves being in the fabric store at university. Apart from that she loves being out in the countryside in nature, it gives her ideas. Jesse: His fav place is his local skatepark, he just feels really free there. He loves his hometown too, cause it’s busy and bustling and the atmosphere is super. Zara: Her current favourite place is the gym cause it’s where she does her training. Her favourite anywhere place is Saudi Arabia where she lived for some of her childhood when her dad was posted out there. Aleksander: In the armchair in his bedroom. Overall, there is a church in Swidnica that is very special to him. Murray: Small scale, the dance studio where he works in. He has a very love/hate relationship with the isle of Orkney.
Favourite memory -
Damian: Ever since Damian was about four all he ever wanted to be was a doctor. He worked so hard all through school, and did everything he possibly could to achieve his goal. He was so incredibly nervous when he applied for university, and when he received an unconditional acceptance letter to study medicine he honestly couldn’t believe it. (He actually broke down a little bit and cried because he was just so happy). Cain: Cain’s happiest memory was when he was about six years old. Saturday mornings were the family’s lazy time - so he, four year old Eden and two year old Silas would get up and put the tv on. And he’d be able to hear his parents chatting as they woke up and got dressed, and they sounded really happy - and that’s what he remembers. Jenna: She was very quiet as a child and used to blend into the background a lot, one of her happiest memories was when she was in primary 5. She was adamant that she wanted to make her own costume for World Book Day, and her mum let her. She worked for nearly two weeks in the run up and stitched a dress like Violet Baudelaire’s from A Series of Unfortunate Events, and all of her class were astounded. She won best costume in her class and everyone wanted to know how she’d made it and thought she was so cool!Jesse: Jesse’s happiest memory was when he was seven and his brother Callum was twelve. They were on holiday in Spain and their dad was teaching them to dive at the poolside, and Jesse managed to learn quicker than Callum. Perhaps it’s trivial but he really cherishes that memory. Zara: Receiving her Master Cadet Army Proficiency Certificate - she was so fucking proud of herself and all the hard work she’d put into it, and it was just one step closer to her intention to join the army. Aleksander: Aleksander is pretty sure his happiest memory is one he’s created in his head… He remembers going to the park when he was very young with Mykhail and his mum - he remembers holding his mum’s hand and it was warm. He recalls her tightening the scarf around his neck and putting on his mittens and then sending him off to play. Murray: He vividly remembers the first time that his dad came to one of his dance shows. He’d always felt like his dad disapproved and he was sad about not living up to his expectations, but after the show his dad said he was proud of him - and Murray thought his heart was about to burst.
