He was alone for almost his entire life, with no real friends or family save for perhaps Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, and Flamel, he never got to meet and fall in love with someone who understood and appreciated him and all his flaws, he never met anyone he could really open up to about the traumas in his past and his lasting guilt and shame over them. He never really got to heal from all the bullshit he went through that left him with tendencies to manipulate, control and compel the people and events around him to protect himself. 

You can say what you like about Dumbledore, but his life story honestly just makes me so sad.

Okay this question has been bugging me ever since I went and saw fantastic beasts. What happens to muggle born kids in America, like MACUSA is so uptight about no-maj contact, like what's the protocol here, no one is talking about this and I needed to put this out there

i men, i know they were mentioned in the whole ‘history of magic in america’ thing, but i don’t think there was any more than “america has kind of a lot of muggleborns”, without really talking about just what they do with these kids, especially concidering the whole “absolutely no contact with the no-maj”-thing. what happens to these children? do their parents get to know what is happening to their kids? are they just told “hi, your kid is super smart, so we’re taking them to a top-secret super school, please don’t ask any questions and tell no one”, or what??
