“Unless you have a legitimate reason to be here, I really CAN’T help you.”

It was dark as he struggled to open his eyes, eyelids impossibly heavy. He could barely see a damn thing. But the familiar thrum of the ship and chatter from other rooms had him relaxing even through the pain that throbbed at his limbs. There was a distinct lack of feeling at his legs and hands but he couldn’t see to check what was WRONG. After what they’d done, the escape from Ego’s planet, Yondu hadn’t been expecting to wake up at all. He hadn’t been much for religion most of his life but the thought crossed his mind maybe he’d found purgatory. It didn’t seem PUNISHMENT enough to be hell. But here he was in the dark, unable to move, in pain, hearing the rabble of his crew nearby but unable to join them. No, whatever hell had been created for him would’ve been worse than that.
It took Yondu a few moments to regain his bearings and as he turned his head, something shifted in the blurred vision of his right eye and he understood. He wasn’t in the dark. He just couldn’t see. Space blindness. He’d HEARD of cases before but the thought hadn’t crossed his mind ‘til just then. He’d been fully exposed for longer than any man should have. And though fear tightened in his throat at the thought of permanently losing his sight, he shoved it to the back of his mind and grunted. “Hey-” Though he’d meant to yell, the noise sputtered and died in his throat, far too dry. It came as more of a wheeze. "-who the hell is there?”
Just accept his awkward moment of affection, Kraglin. Don't ask questions.
Answer not forthcoming, Kraglin picks up his bowl with one hand, takes another spoonful, all without taking his eyes off the doctor, still a little suspicious. Eventually, there’s a shrug, focus returning to his soup.
“If I die, I’m hauntin’ you first.”
