Danger: Tolerance Levels Critical - Jongin
his eyes were wide and curious as she approached, speaking a game of her own. he wondered if all adults were capable of reducing themselves to petty games they so commonly coined on youth. the thought excited him. jongin looked on, proud, sturdy, gaze never wavering except to examine the sliver of skin showed; but the glance was furtive, quick, a definite addition to why he disliked this class so much. she didn’t even have decency to cover up, something that at her age jongin would think she would be skilled at. she was simply too old, wearing too much age, for him to find her attractive in any other way except as a nest for his jokes.
he waited until she walked away; everyone’s stare at him slid off—he simply didn’t have the inspiration to care for what others thought. he was too enraptured at the silly conversation he was having with a respected teacher; he wondered if she would be quick to throw away her composure. “i’ll be there after class and in your office. just let me pick up some candles, some music; we’ll shut the curtains and you can teach me all about the psychological differences between girls and boys. maybe i’ll add in some of my own knowledge.”
the kid exuded rudeness. he wore it like a badge of honor, and it was those kinds of people that kahi struggled with the most. she was a patient person, she was young, still young enough to remember what it was like when she was in school as if it were only a few days ago, but her tolerance was wearing very, very thin. she held her tongue, wanting to say something else, wanting to put him in his place, but to do so would be unprofessional and to have the entirety of the class as witnesses... her like-ability among students and staff would not keep her out of trouble.
the bell went off shortly after. there were still some lingering glances, students excited over what might happen. it was sort of sad how someone elses' misfortune (in this case, it should be jongin's misfortune but for some reason, she felt as if he didn't see it that way) intrigued them, but it was all a part of human nature, that much she had come to understand by now. "do not be late." was all she managed to say, choosing to ignore what he had said. he was infuriating. she started gathering her things, needing something to do with her hands to calm her down. she had to be calm and understanding, even with people like jongin.
Slacker No Slacking - Jonghyun
Jonghyun stretched his arms over his head, his back cracking at the action. He sighed softly before dropping his arms to his side and glancing towards the teach. Oh. So she noticed. He sighed again, but not in content this time. He scratched the side of his head, trying to think about how to go about explaining his issue - his boredom - without making it sound like she was boring. Honestly, she could just stand there and he would pay attention no problem, but the concept of lecturing and paying attention got so boring.
"I guess you haven’t heard about me," Jonghyun mumbled a bit as he scratched his chin, "It’s not that I don’t care, but… I just…. I get so bored." His voice seemed tired and he rested his hands on her desk, "Believe me, you are the most interesting this in this room, may I say, but I just… I can’t help it. I’ve been like this since forever. I get so excited for something and I’m fine and first, but the moment I actually have to work, It is like my body tunes out and I can’t focus. I’m just the type of the person who needs to do something, instead of sitting in a lecture room.”
He smiled at her again, his toothy grin appearing again, “I really do try. I mean, I someone manage to turn in most of my work. Maybe it isn’t A plus material, but I do it. I’m just the type of student who works better when I get my hands on something or I’ll just get bored and end up dropping another major for something else.”
Kahi felt herself relax a bit. There were all sorts of different methods for learning and she herself knew that lecturing wasn't a very good one. She knew that from experience, but her hands were sort of tied in this... community situation. There just wasn't the funds or the resources to do trips, to organize hands on experiments and activities. She wanted to do labs, to do visits to hospitals, to have mock diagnoses, to just do something other than to talk about it. So she definitely understood what Jonghyun meant and she wished, more than anything, she had the ability to do something about it.
"What can I do to make it more interesting for you, then?" Kahi loved suggestions. She felt that a professor that didn't listen to their students and try to make their suggestions a reality was a pretty poor teacher. Students needed to see that their thoughts and opinions mattered, even within the frames of their own education. She wanted to help, not just to get her lessons out for the sake of being paid. Kahi sat on the desk opposite Jonghyun, crossing her legs, her fingers curling around the edge of the wood.
"You're a more hands on sort of guy, right? I understand that." She began. "I was hoping to have a lot more hands on experience in my classes but alas..." She sighed, shaking her head. "Funds just aren't there. People are more interested in sports and what not." It was the sad reality of being a Psychology professor. She did her best to keep interest, but sometimes, books about the brain just didn't stack up to certain other things.
Psych In ♔ YunJin & Professor Kahi
❀ — Writing was hard. That was true on any day. But harder still was trying to write believable characters … when you refused to talk to people unless it was necessary.
There was no way YunJin was going to talk to the diverse range of people necessary in order to finish writing out this scene, even if she could find enough of them. So instead, she’d poked around in the resources she had as a student and found the psychology teacher. Professor Park Jiyoung. It didn’t hurt that one of her roommates was a Psych major, and she could just ask Eunae who most of her psych classes were with. She’d even been kind enough to give YunJin the office number and the professor’s office hours.
So here she was, after classes, hesitating next to the Psychology professor’s door. Now that she thought about it, she could just turn around right now and ask Eunae about what she knew… No, that would mean mentioning the story she’d been writing, maybe even showing it to her, and that was the last thing she wanted to do with something so unfinished. After all, her roommates had seen her writing. A lot.
Instead, she mustered her courage and lightly knocked on the door frame. "E-excuse me?" she began, peering hesitantly through the open door. "Um … I’m Choi YunJin… I’m a roommate of Jo EuNae’s … and I had a few questions about human psychology… Can I come in?"
Kahi was hunched over her desk, her red correction pen in hand as she went through the papers from one of the upper level lessons. Essays were always fascinating to read. She found herself awed by some of the insight and ideas that some of her students had.
She also found herself laughing at some the most ridiculous, made up conditions she had ever heard of. Still, she couldn't complain. It might be a bit sad to some people, but this was often her form of entertainment on her days off. After all, when else would she have time to do all of this grading?
A knock at her door rippled through her concentration and she tore her eyes away from a particularly hilarious passage that someone had been writing about the mysterious Bat- Syndrome, which appeared to be completely fabricated for this essay. A young woman poked her head through and Kahi smiled. "Ah, EuNae's roommate? Come on in." Kahi sat up further in her chair, more than happy to answer whatever questions that the girl had.
Yunjin wasn't taking her class but that didn't mean that Kahi would not advise her in whatever she needed. Kahi never refused anybody. "What sort of questions did you have then?" She asked as she relaxed against the back of her chair.

You Live and You Burn || Kahi & Chanyeol
What an awful day, Chanyeol sighed, hunching his shoulders up and puffing out a breath of cold air. It was winter, which was bad enough, but now it was raining instead of snowing and Chanyeol was feeling the dark grey clouds in his own chest more than the sky. His moods tended to be easily swayed by factors in his environment, which was why he usually tried to dress in bright, happy colors or calm, smooth textures. But nothing could get this chilly, miserable rain to go away, he thought as he strode down the side of the road. He felt it sink in through his jacket, into his bones.
He’d gone looking for the library in town—any library that was closest. Reading school books was fine and everything, but he wanted different kinds of books, like comics. Unfortunately, even though he had managed to find and reach the library, he had gotten there just as it was closing and when he stepped out of the building again, the rain started. He did his best to stay out of the way of cars, but sometimes he got a bit splashed. He wasn’t far away from his Greek house now but then a car drove by him and stopped just ahead. He was hesitant, but when he saw that it was a woman inside, he cautiously approached the window.

Today was an awful day to be walking around outside. It was the sort of rain that gave you the chills, that had you huddled up in bed and blankets after being out in it because the cold had seeped so deep into yourself. Kahi hated this kind of weather. Summer storm were wonderful. Winter ones, not so much. She drove carefully, very much aware of how slick the roads could get in a winter rain. As she was making her way back up the campus townhouses, she spotted someone walking. "Who could possibly want to be walking in this." She asked herself. As she drove by, she squinted through the rain and found that she recognized the boy. Her teacher conscious couldn't let herself drive by, so she slowed to a stop just a few feet ahead of him.
He was approaching the window, looking a bit apprehensive, which she knew was a natural response to someone stopping like this in front of you. When he was close enough, she rolled down the window. Hopefully he didn't think she was some kind of creep and would appreciate the gesture. "I recognize you from the school." She stated, nodding in the direction that BTI was located. "I'm heading up to the townhouses and if that's the general area where you're headed, I thought I'd give you a ride up to campus." Kahi explained to him. "If you'd like, of course." The rain was coming down in sheets. The inside lip of the car window was already dripping with rain.
Danger: Tolerance Levels Critical - Jongin
teachers were always a pain in the ass. ever since he had been forced to enroll in bti, everything attached to it was nothing but dreadful—especially psychology. it wasn’t the teacher’s fault, mostly because he never paid attention. the problem was more associated with the self brandished idea that he knew anything he could ever be taught. why should he be subject to lectures of dead psychologists and dated theories that didn’t apply to him. he already knew how people thought, how they were influenced. the class was a waste of his time.
but the professor, of course, had another idea in mind. with her shrill, grating voice, she yelled, pointed him out. he blinked a couple of times as her words rankled in his head, bothersome and strained. “yes, please. i want it explained again. from scratch.” he tossed back, fitting his hands behind his head, leaning back further on his chair. he smiled, expression sloppily constructed; perfectly strewn. he was teasing her in subtle ways, the tilt of his grin, the lines of his eyes, the mocking dark of them. jongin didn’t have to speak words to the woman whose name escaped him; all he had to do was look on, waiting for her to rattle the air again with annoying syllables.
Kahi's eyes narrowed slightly. Typical. She wasn't stupid, she knew he thought that this was nothing more than a game. Get the teacher to waste her time, show that he had just as much control over the class as she did. Well, Kahi wasn't new to this game and she wasn't going to stand for it and get played by some up-jumped kid. "Oh would you, Jongin?" She asked, leaning casually against her lecturers podium and giving him a sarcastice smile. Her top wasn't low-cut per say, but she realized there might have been a little something to see. "Then you can come and see me during office hours. And I'll explain it to you slowly. These concepts are going to be on the midterm, so it's essential that you understand them."
Calling him out, or anyone out, really, was the last thing that Kahi wanted to do, but sometimes it was necessary. In the case of Kim Jongin, it was definitely necessary. "If anyone else feels that these concepts are escaping them," She began, standing upright again, turning her back on the class and writing her office number and availability on the white board behind her. "In case any of you have forgotten." Her eyes locked on Jongin. "And I expect I will be seeing you at some point this week." Honestly, she knew he wouldn't come. In fact, she was already preparing for some kind of smart ass reply from him.
— casanova ; ( bbh + pjy )
an impatient sigh unfurled between baekhyun’s lips. the line which winded from java the hut’s counter during the morning floods of students and faculty alike inspired groans and sullen glares from passersby with desires to grab a cup of joe. it was just too damn early for this.
so it was up to baekhyun to pass the time somehow, at least until the line dwindled to a length short enough that baekhyun could even decipher the menu’s contents. but those thoughts passed the instant his eyes fell on a figure just in front of him.
and what a figure she had. it took every ounce of self-control for baekhyun not to whisper something along the lines of “damn,” when his eyes skirted along the silhouette of the woman preceding him. she was hot — the kind of hot that exuded confidence. the kind of hot where you pass her by and every nuance of her movements makes you want to approach her. the subtleties and grace, along with perceived bold tenacity she emitted were enough to prompt baekhyun to tap on her shoulder, a lazy smirk centering on his lips.
"hey, whatever you decide to get is on me, alright?" he muttered, voice dropping to that octave he always used when attempting to sound alluring — he felt it really enhanced the natural husky notes of his regular voice. "i’m baekhyun, by the way. and you are…?"
Queueing wasn't her thing. Kahi had been abroad to several countries and the only time that people seemed to actually enjoy being in a line was in England, though maybe her memories were a bit distorted by now, since the last time she had been there was when she herself had been in school. As it were, this was not Britain and she did not have the patience for this line when she had a lot of work to do back at her office and her body was craving caffeine in order to start up and function for the day.
So, it was safe to say, that she felt there was nothing attractive about herself that morning. She sighed, checking the time on her phone, not really paying much attention to anyone else around her.
That is, until she was tapped by someone. She raised a brow, a bit surprised by the boldness of his statement. He wanted to pay for her drink? That had to be flirting 101. She was rather honored and, of course, it felt good to know that she could still be attractive someone when she was over 30 (this, of course, had been something that had worried her greatly at the time)
But there was one problem. This guy definitely had to be a student at the school. Knowing her history, knowing that BTI knew her history, she didn't want to give this gentleman the wrong idea. But surely it wouldn't hurt to play along with it for a minute or two, right? "That's very kind of you." She replied with a smile, dimples making her smile glow even brighter. "Are you sure?"
Slacker No Slacking - Jonghyun
Jonghyun was really excited about taking psychology. Honestly, he felt like the major fit him perfectly. He lived his life shrugging of negativity and trying to live a stress free life, so wouldn’t it make sense that an upbeat person like himself would trying to help others find their way to the type of free living life he had. It seemed perfect.
But then all the work happened. It wasn’t like Jonghyun assumed that changing his major to Psychology wouldn’t mean any work, but why was there always so much? Why did college have to be so exhausting? Wasn’t this the time of someone’s life where they are supposed to be living their lives? Trying new things? It was so boring.
As the end of class cam, he raised from his seat, grabbing his bag and tucking his phone into his pocket. The sound of his name caused him to raise his brow and his friend next to him childishly added in an ‘ohhhhhh’. He chucked and rolled his eyes, “See you later, man.”
Moving past the crowd leaving the room, he made his way up to Professor Kahi (though personally, Jonghyun isn’t sure why she is a professor - he thinks modeling would be perfect). He smiled brightly at the teacher and shrugged his shoulders, “Did I do something?”
Kahi watched as the students filed out of her classroom, a few of them giving side glances while Jonghyun made his way to her. She felt a bit bad honestly, she didn't like calling out students, especially those that had shown such promise in the beginning, but it needed to be done. She didn't want to see him slip through the cracks. As he approached the desk, he smiled. It was such a shame, she thought to herself. And then she wondered what was a shame. Her mind shouldn't be wandering right now.
"I've noticed you've been slacking a bit in my class." Kahi told him, relaxing against the desk. She didn't want to come on too strong. She had to take a measured approach. "And I wanted to find out why." She didn't know if there were some personal issues going on and didn't want to go over the line, but she wouldn't feel like she was doing her job as a professor if she just let him keep going in the direction she saw him in.
The smile was distracting, of course. It should be illegal for students to have smiles like that. It just reminded her of how she had been so enraptured before, how she had fallen so easily, and then fell so far. "You're smart, that's obvious, and you started out with so much promise, so I am just curious as to what has happened since then. Why you have decided to just goof off in the back, clearly not pay attention, and just do as you please."
Skipping Through Life - Kaeun
⊹ — so far, everything had gone without a hitch. she hadn’t gotten in trouble for skipping the classes she did and — amazingly to all of her equally troublesome peers — she was able to keep up on the work that was assigned. sure, most of it too some lying, but it had been a long time since she’d stopped having qualms about that.
so when she’s suddenly snuck up on — and that’s exactly what she’s sure happened — by her psych 101 professor, she screams. literally. it’s not too long, only lasting a moment, and was only about sufficient enough to make people scan to search for “whoever” might be screaming.
"uh…r-really?" she mumbled, playing dumb and rubbing the back of her neck a bit. "i…i mean i’ve been there." it wasn’t a total lie. she showed up for classes, but only the ones one of her psych major friends told her they were having a test or quiz. "you must’ve just missed me in all those faces," she nodded like that had to be the answer.
anything to get a teacher off her case.
Kahi smiled, a simple, knowing smile. Oh she had been in this girls shoes before. She knew the stops, the lies, the tricks. It was sort of amusing how students seemed to think that they were the only ones that knew their ways. It was so easy for them to forget that everyone older than them had, most likely, been a student at one point or another. They knew what students did because either they, or their friends, had done it as well.
"Is that so?" One of the things that Kahi he did usually twice a week was to pass around a sign in sheet. As she lectured, students that were there would sign the sheet and then she'd have a good idea about who was there and who wasn't, which she did just for istuations like Kaeun was trying to play her innocence off on.
Kahi slipped a hand into her back and pulled out a clipboard on which she kept all of the sign in sheets for the semester. Attendance was in no way a huge factor in her grading system, but it did contribute. "Then why haven't you signed the sign in forms? Or did you forget at the start of semester that I said I would randomly pass these around to judge attendance?" Kahi gave the girl another smile, one that appeared to be sweet at first, but plainly said that she had the girl cornered.

Slacker No Slacking - Jonghyun
One of the things about being a teacher that Kahi didn't like was when she had to call in those that were struggling or just plain not putting in any effort whatsoever. She understood it when people didn't like a class and that it could be frustrating, but if you didn't at least try, she was going to call you out.
Jonghyun seemed like a nice enough guy. She didn't know him all that well and it had taken her a while to remember his name. However, once she had noticed, she began to see the telltale signs of a kid not exactly doing so hot. That was putting it nicely. He was slacking, no doubt about it, and Kahi wasn't going to have her class known as the slacker class. She didn't care if this was community college. Her students were going to learn.
Towards the end of lecture, she could see him in the back, very much not paying attention. It was sort of laughable how obvious it was, so as the bell rang to signal the end of the lesson, Kahi spoke up, having to raise her voice louder than usual to be heard over the din of scraping chairs and chatter.
"Jonghyun, please come and see me in my office."
Skipping Through Life - Kaeun
Psychology 101 was a big class. There were easily a hundred plus students in it. She hadn't exactly memorized the roster yet, but she did recognize faces well and even knew some of the students by name already. The first few days to week or so generally had the best attendance and then after that, those that were serious (or at least had to sort of pretend to be or had nothing better to do) and those that really didn't give a flying rats ass were separated.
As she was making her way back to her office after a lunch in the Marketplace, Kahi spotted just one of those faces. Not the ones that still showed up to her class, but one of the ones whose attendance had been spotty at best.
"Lee Kaeun, we've been missing you in Psychology." She had sort of on purpose snuck up on the young woman, practically materializing beside her while the other girl walked. Kahi didn't like to make that a habit, but she did like the reaction she got when she did do it.
Danger: Tolerance Levels Critical - Jongin
Kahi narrowed her eyes. She could take a lot, she was patient, and she liked to think that she was fair. She gave warnings privately at first before moving on to doing so in front of the entire class of one hundred plus. She worked hard to make sure her lessons were never always solely lecture based and, when they had to be, she tried to be an active and enthusiastic instructor. She had no patience, however, when students felt like they could continue to dick around in her classroom and not get some kind of punishment for it.
Unfortunately for one student, Kahi had pretty much reached the limit on her bullshit tolerance meter. Her eyebrow twitched as she tried to bite back her tongue. This was always the problem when group work was assigned. Things could get rowdy, typically with the students who didn't care. One would think that they would grow out of such childish antics at this age, but sadly, she was often disappointed. "Kim Jongin!" Her voice rang out, no longer able to hold it back. "Do you have a problem with the assignment given? Or perhaps you just didn't understand. Should I explain it again?" She tried not to let the sarcasm seep through but sometimes one just couldn't help it.
