Of course at first, you tried to know him better with the help of Linhardt, who became your “Caspar teacher”. That's how you succeeded to charm the Black Eagle boy. At first Caspar was curious about you, and tried his best to impress you... by fighting every guy cruel with you, or flirting a little too much with you to his taste. You found it cute, too cute to resist. When he came to your chambers covered by bruises, he was even cuter. You started to kiss every bruise in order to heal every one. “You're an angel” he said to you in the middle of the night, after hours talking. You need nothing more to capture his lips in a passionate kiss. That was the first time you saw Caspar blush. “I won't let anyone flirt and bother you...” he promised you between two kisses. Needless to say, he didn't leave your chambers that night... or any night after.

As someone who has played New Mystery of the Emblem a lot, "Everybody hates Kris" is a meme for a reason. Its like the "Pinky, the Brain and LARRY" with them around, look the Pinky, the Brain and larry clip up on youtube if you don't get the reference. Basically a character propped in an existing story only to basically pop out & yell during important scenes, "Hey I'm here, look at me!"

Er, I know. I also played it.

I don't think FE has had any good MUs at all because the concept is inherently contradictory with the storytelling FE does.

I think Kamui is the least bad one because, in spite of execution issues, Kamui has the most defined personal traits and is closest to being an independent character. It's not a character most fans like but hey, that wasn't my metric.

I know a lot of people who go "Mark is the best, you can pretend he's not there!" and I say bullshit. If the character is at the point where you can easily pretend they're not there, they're a waste of space and a bad decision in the first place. Having something as major as an MU being like that wasn't a good development decision.

(While I'm not familiar enough with FE7's development history to make any absolute statements about what was going on behind the scenes, I don't think you could prove me wrong if I said that FE7's identity as a story/game is unclear or confused. Lyn--allegedly a third of the main characters--is pointless. She's dead weight and that's just bad planning. I'd suggest that Mark, rather than being a boon in his obscurity, is another symptom of FE7's lack of clear direction.)

And people need to accept that we will never go back to Mark-style MUs, as well. It's just not going to happen outside of an FE7 remake. Even if the dating sim and power fantasy aspects of the MU weren't ridiculously popular (which they are), it wouldn't happen because the industry's growth towards story-centric games rooted in reality is incompatible with the non-character of Mark.
