FE50 f/1.8

Trying out FE50mm lens from Sony. It’s a native nifty fifty for my Sony body. It’s cheap plasticky standard lens - the first native lens I own. The image quality is pretty nice. The AF is not too bad. Compared to my Canon lenses on 5D mark III it’s bad. Even if the lens is in focus each shutter release makes the AF to go a little bit back and forth which is annoying. It’s never faster than ~1s. For my needs it’s OK. For some very quick action shots it’s probably impossible to shoot with this lens. 

But for the money I’m pretty happy with it. If I want to travel light with a walk around lens and AF that is usable - this lens is OK. Wondering how it compares to Zeiss 55mm. 4 times more expensive lens. Can’t be that much better optically. Probably everything else is also better - build quality and AF.

Last but not least - it’s the only lens I have that works with continuous AF in video mode. It’s not amazing but it works.
