an oddity whose name still tosses around the student body. it falls from the gossiping lips of girls chittering through the halls, around with guys that lather it in veiled jealousy or indignancy. color tate piqued -- he’s witnessed the act of donnie darko’s bravado taking a jab at the guest speaker of the school. it’s admirable in a way that would give old-fashioned conservatives a heart attack, and that was the moment a hook was cast out, baiting for tate’s attention.

after the school bell rings and students flock out the front doors to leave, he’s managed to tail the boy. ‘ hey ! ‘ several long, quick strides carry him over to his side. ‘ what you did to the guy during the assembly .. was great. would’a done a little somethin’ more but it was cool. almost perfect. ‘
