{ Nostalgia } | Clary & Jace

Isolation would never benefit Jace as often as it used to. With the obscure and disregarding Clary tearing out his heart and leaving little sanity to grasp ahold of, yearning for the past wasn't a discrete concept. He could sense that the redhead was in a mode of circumventing. Avoiding Jace ever since Valentine came into the equation--labelling their love as incest. Not that his feelings erased with their fathers words; but Clary's did, at least that is what he had come to perceive. Her neglect towards him hadn't bypassed the condition but brought assumptions that lead Jace in the wrong directions.

Continuously he put himself at peril, an attempt to forget, but absolutely nothing could suppress the thought of Clary. Every detail of her was sketched into his brain and set in stone with an unlimited force. She understood him, laughed when he laughed, saw through the defenses he put up to what was underneath. There was no Jace Wayland more real than the one he saw in her eyes. Then there was Simon. The mundane. The newfound boyfriend that would probably do a spectacular job in making her happy. Logically, it was exactly what Jace ought to desire for his sister. But he couldn’t be in the same room as Simon without wanting to kill someone.

When the news of their updated relationship status came to Jace's knowledge, it made him feel utterly sick. The one girl that mattered to him more than anything else was dating another. A mundane. Was he supposed to move on? To live with the burning desire of wanting Clary as his? See her grow old, fall in love, raise a family? Jace felt the blood rush to his face as the ice inside the boys chest grew more hollow. The four walls inside his Institute room felt as if they were about to concave, sultry air dispersing when he ascended from the bed and began typing Clary's number into the mobile that clutched in his palm. It dialed until voicemail hit. "Clary.. it's me. Please, just answer your phone. I want to talk to you. I.. I want to see you," his tone scraped with a noticeable creak--it surely must have been the hundredth pointless message she'd received--"..I miss you."
