Feather Manicure Tutorial
Squee! I've got something quite exciting to show you today! Look at this, feathers on a manicure!
This is so easy to do, and looks pretty cool! And again, a massively budget way to get some cool nail effects as I picked up the bag of feathers the other day from a stationery store for £2.00. I've got enough feathers to last me the rest of my life, there are loads! Out of the bag of feathers, the turquoise/blue feathers took my fancy, so I fished a load of these out to work with.
So, for this manicure, you need your feathers, top coat and some small nail scissors.
I have painted my nails with a neutral shade of Collection Cosmetics Milkshake so the focus is all on the feathers, rather than the colour underneath. First up, hold the feather up to your nail, and just check the length/width is correct. If there are any straggly bits that may end up near the base of your nails, give them a quick trim, as they'll be pretty hard to trim once they are on your nail. You want a feather that doesn't have a thick "stalk" down the middle, as this won't sit properly on your nail. Once you've got your feather ready, apply a top coat to your nails, and then position the feather onto your nails. It should grip onto your nails.
Gently pat the feather to fix it further onto your nails.
Once the nail has dried (so, a couple of minutes), get your nail scissors, and carefully trim off the excess feather.
Once you've trimmed the edges of your nails (also for any bits you can't get off on your tips, I filed them off pretty easily), finish with a couple of layers of top coat to smooth them out, and there you go, lovely feather nails! I did every nail, but I think this would look lovely as an accent nail too.
