oh i love the mention of unova! kind of broadens the world a bit. question: does N exist? is Yan this world's version of N (since well, plasma, and they talked about how she was said to be Unovan royalty, and the best lies have some truth to them)?

im glad!! i like giving little hints at other games and regions to make the world feel a little bigger :> All of the “villains” of other games exist in the burn away universe, but, like nika, are separate from their game counterparts in both personality and motivation. so an N stand-in exists who leads plasma but their name isnt N and their background/personality isn’t the same. and who knows what’s up with yan ;)

happy storyteller saturday! what are some of your characters’s favorite memories?

Happy STS!! Thank you very much for the question! Since I’ve been posting some intros for the PYROP crew, I’ll answer with them!

Rhea has very fond memories of living in Toronto, mainly spending time at the local parks with friends and having family get-togethers with distant relatives she rarely got to see. Of course, another reason she’s so fond of Toronto is because she met Elliana there (the two were working at the same university before the recruitment for Damysus came in, and hit it off at a teacher’s meet-and-greet).

Elliana enjoys remembering the time she spent with her siblings back in Quebec, as they’d often go on adventures together. Especially now, since she’s on Damysus, she’d love to be able to see her brother and sister again, and takes time to remember their escapades. Her favorite would probably be when they all went out into the woods to catch tadpoles, and they discovered a secret little cave full of beautiful stones (they all took one to remember the occasion. Elli still has hers to this day).

Declan has many fond memories of watching the sunset out on the porch of his childhood home, and the beautiful skies inspired him to capture the colors and shapes through pottery and metalworking. He also remembers cooking with his family, and uses the skills he learned from watching his grandmother cook traditional dishes to recreate some of the platters on Damysus.

happy sts! what would happen if your characters switched powers for a day? (or gained powers for a day)

Hello hello! And thank you for the ask ❤️

Since none of my wips involve magic/powers, I’ll just give little snippets of the chaos that would ensue if the characters in my western were given powers -

Rosalind: her ideal power would either be pyrokinesis or invisibility. She would be out of control if she had the ability to manipulate fire and more than likely she would be the cause for all the crops burning down that day. If it was invisibility, she would use it to pull pranks on people.

Eliza: she would want telekinesis so it would help her get chores done quicker. Or to get some work done on the ranch without tiring herself out with the laborious activity.

Caleb: he would ideally be able to control someone’s mind or something frightening like summoning storms in order to control people. It would be a Bad Time for anyone not on his side and he would be too powerful.

happy sts! what are your character’s favorite colors?

Happy STS to you, too! My characters don’t really have a favorite color, I never detail them that much beforehand, but sometimes it comes up in the story but for now, I haven’t reached such a point yet with most of them.

The only one who does have a favorite color is Bean; she loves pink and pastels

Favourite piece of dialogue from your wip?

thanks for the ask! i’ve got two favorite quotes, one is more funny and the other is very sweet but sad

the first is from Painted Cards, it’s short and makes me smile: “I realized I’m in love with him over a bowl of soup.”

the second is a huge spoiler, but luckily, it’s out of context! “They told me they want kids, both of them. And I used to think about it. I’d imagine that future- we’d have kids and we’d live in the countryside, never having to worry about the world ending. But now that’s impossible. I’m going to watch them have a future, and I’ll never be apart of it. It sucks.” She laughed a little, her throat sore with unshed tears, and wiped at her watering eyes. “It sucks so much, because I’m in love with them. With or without soulbonds, we’d be soulmates, and I’d follow a red string across the expanse of every world just to get back to them. And now I can’t. Because they’re right there, hands intertwined, and mine are tied behind my back. Those futures will never happen.”

do gym leaders have to do any training/learn how to not use lethal force as a preventative/precaution for causing potentially fatal injuries during matches?

nope! the league isn’t regulated for safety (which earns kalos a lot of criticism from other regions). gym leaders dont hold back and will do everything in their power usually to keep a challenger from winning.

the one exception to this is, of course, Santalune Gym, which has practiced restraint and banned use of lethal force against challengers since Hedy took control of it about 30 years ago.

so you mentioned a while back that you used a google spreadsheet tracker to maintain your progress bar, I was wondering how you could set that up?

i use the spreadsheet & tracker from this post!!

i’ve customized mine a bit (since the original is set up to track multiple standard pages vs me drawing long strips) but you should have all the info you need at the link provided! :D be sure to read the “Read Me & Credits” tab!
