Daisya really, really regretted taking a look at the open wound, since now he knew it looked that bad it was starting to hurt more, too.

“Should have thought of that before you jumped,” Kanda said acidly.

“Yeah, I was totally thinking about that when I had armed gunmen giving me the ol’ shave-and-a-haircut--ah!”

The tweezers immediately withdrew when he flinched, and a comforting hand stroked down his back.

“Don’t be such a baby.”

“You’re just naturally insensitive, I suppose.”

“Yeah.”

Once the pain drained away just enough to let him open his eyes, the work resumed, each splinter of broken glass picked out and placed on a paper towel on the laundromat floor.

“You need to be more careful.”

“Sure, yeah,” Daisya mumbled. “Think first, defenestrate later.”

“I want you to be more careful.”

“Really?”

Kanda sighed. “Yes.”

Hot takes:

We’ll start with the big one: I don’t ship Ell*ot and Le*.

Pre-haircut Le* was way better than post-haircut L*o (in terms of personality and appearance)

The reverse is true for Vin*ent, who looks way better with short hair.

Lac*e is just eh

Honestly, I’m just not about shipping. The characters’ bonds were more special/complex than romantic love.

Phil*ppe should not have reappeared (and when he did, he was insufferable rather than sympathetic)

WARNING: If you actually like Bun*ou S*ray Do*s, don’t read this. If you’re a jaded cynic (like me), read at your own risk.

To get the big boy out of the way, all of a certain light novel with a number for a name needs to be disavowed (please note: I haven’t read the spoilers, never will, but I’ve gathered enough to dislike them)

Chu*ya is too unimportant of a character to have such an edgy backstory (even more so than the protagonist)

Ch*uya did not need an extra AF backstory to explain any of his characterization

If Chuu*a became an executive shortly after D*zai, it defeats the impressiveness of Da*ai being the youngest executive in history

Corru*tion (nor any part of his ability) never needed any over-dramatic “explanations”

The third light novel is more relevant to the plot of the third season than a certain aforementioned light novel, and thus, it should be the one to be animated

Asag*ri likes to ret-con things (such as throwing S*ibusawa into A*sushi’s past) in ways that are usually worse

D*ad Ap*le is more enjoyable if you ignore the nonsense plot

F*odor really had no reason to be in D*ad Apple

The s*ukoku crotch scene is horrible fan-pandering, cringey, and, honestly, just uncomfortable.

C*uuya’s use of Corr*ption in De*ad App*e was a disappointment (really?? guitar-smashing the dragon with a building??)

Mor* is a terrible person, but to have him appear in Yos*no’s childhood as a source of her trauma is an unoriginal plot point and completely out of left field. 

At*shi’s orphanage trauma didn’t seem that redundant??

A*go is good, and B*raiha was made for all three of them, not just D*zai and Od*saku

Lov*craft should have died when Chuuy* used C*rruption

The series would have been better if it entirely ended after the Gu*ld Arc

Somehow this captures both Daisya’s pure burnout liveliness and Kanda’s endless march into the open arms of death

Daisya knows that Kanda has secrets, and he knows that they’re not the fun type, and he wants so much for Kanda to just tell him what’s wrong, but every time he tries to connect it fails

Kanda doesn’t know how Daisya manages to actually...enjoy life, and he’s kind of scared (though he doesn’t realize it) of the day when Daisya realizes he’s a lost cause and stops trying to reach him

The Pursuit - Evans Blue

Works as Kanda’s conversation with himself after Barcelona

Mostly just the general feeling of loss and failure

You Fight Me - Breaking Benjamin

Yes, I was obsessed with BB in middle school, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa

DGM canon doesn’t allow for a lot of happiness so I like to think that this is what flashes through their heads during various fights the aforementioned Catalonian incident

Bonus points because I didn’t want to repeat artists:

Nineteen - Tegan and Sara

I had to use this one because Daisya is just 19 when he kicks the bucket (depressing) and Kanda’s either 19 then or turns 19 while on his big depressing road trip to Japan with the rest of Team Tiedoll

It’s raw, it’s impulsive, it’s about a confusing and energized relationship that ended badly. What more could you want?

Last of the Real Ones - Fall Out Boy

It’s my own headcanon, but I feel like this sums up Daisya’s feelings towards Kanda

Daisya’s hyperactive and hates boredom

Kanda is a living, breathing, beautiful, superpowered human puzzle box

It was a given from the moment they met that they’d develop a something, and at some point intense fascination and a tense friendship became intense other stuff and just plain old tension
