Will Chimera’s variants allow for alternative descriptions, or is it just imagery? And if so, could two different variants be shown in two different servers? I’ve yet to see a bot that allows both a “public” and “private” version of the same proxy without making multiple proxies in the first place
🌕 alternate descriptions,,, maybe. tell me more*.
alternate variants, yes!! chimera currently supports "server variants", which override the active variant based on server ids.
the hierarchy is like this: server variant -> active variant -> base profile.
so chi checks for a server variant, then checks for an active variant, and only if both of those are missing does it use the base profile rendering.
for public and private versions of the same bot... you could use a proxy to create a small profile for some member that can be public-facing, or you can save more private information in custom fields (which don't show up with the profile unless you explicitly change that setting).
*what would you want that to look like, if it was implemented? how would you want to use that feature (use cases, ways to update each version, etc.)?
A beautiful hand-carved post - feature log in a home we built for a great client in Georgia. The Western Red-cedar log was from the Pacific Northwest and carved by a local artist and designed to fit in the post and beam structure. Stunning!
Feature Post: Should you or should you not write a review for a book you did not finished and gatekeeping.
Feature Post: Should you or should you not write a review for a book you did not finished and gatekeeping.
Hello Everyone!
Especially the fact you probably don’t fully know why that person didn’t finish it and felt the need to write a review to get their thoughts out of the book before putting it behind them.
Which usually most reviewers try to say why they stopped and give their opinion.
Sometimes it’s a “ It’s me not the book” type situation when it’s the reader not the book itself. I know a lot…
Today, we want to introduce our newest feature: clusters. Clusters are the feature that allows us to group some tags on a book together - as part of the same event, plot line, character, or culture. They are groups of tags that are related to each other on that specific book.
Clusters can (but don't have to) be named, so it's easier to keep track of what, exactly, the tags have in common. Cluster names can be character names, places, cultures, events or descriptive words like "Protagonist backstory" or "Enemy alien culture." There can be multiple clusters per book, and the same tag can show up on several clusters.
We've been experimenting with cluster display options. One option is to highlight other tags in that cluster when moving the mouse cursor over a tag, or clicking it. We might indicate that a tag is in a cluster with a symbol. Another option is to make a separate "cluster view,” that shows clusters the same way tag blocks are shown. As clustering can show more details, chances are this view would be spoiler-heavy, so we want to make sure people choose to see it.
This will likely be the last big feature we're adding, and, like modifiers, an optional one. While all tags have a type and a relevance level, they don't need to have modifiers or be grouped in a cluster. These features help add nuance for in-depth tagging, but they are not necessary to use. Since we've started planning this feature, about half of the books we tagged have seen the use of clusters.
There are, of course, always more features to add and refine, like helpful user settings or tweaks to the search algorithm, the user interface and the moderation process. Those extras aren’t a priority for us right now, as we’re working on implementing our core features first, but we’re collecting ideas and preferences. Shoot us a message when you think of something you’d like TagCat to be able to do!
In all seriousness, hello everyone! Hope you’re doing alright in these crazy times. Today, I have decided to (finally) bring to you another feature post detailing another improvement or new feature!

Monkey Wrench! by @sunbirddtellsstories
Clockwise from 12: Sun, Jermaine, Jack, and Timber.
Jack Spicer is no one’s favorite. For as long as he can remember, he's always been the underdog, the weirdo, the odd one out, the loser. After months of stagnation and failure, his dreams of world domination, the dreams that he’s been chasing for most of his life, are finally starting to fade.
And then suddenly, he finds himself holding a Wu that can make it all happen.
A power that can rearrange the natural order and make every one of his foes bow down and show some respect. A power that can finally cement him as the Lord and Master of every last thing on the planet. The catch?
He’s not the only one who has it.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single misstep.
Q: Why did you decide to write Monkey Wrench! ?
A: Jack Spicer has always been one of my favorite characters in XS. When I was a kid watching the show on Saturday mornings, I always wanted to see him make it, to succeed in the way he needed to succeed - by making true friends, by finding his place in the world, and most of all, by loving himself. And I never got to see that, and that kind of bummed me out. XS ended with so many others moving on to a new chapter in their lives, but to me, it always felt like Jack's character growth was left up in the air. And after a long, long period of making up stories about what could come after in my head, I started writing it down. And after being inspired by a few authors and their fan fictions, and the creativity and courage they had to share their stories with everyone else, I decided to start getting serious about my own story and start posting it online. And that's how Monkey Wrench! was born.
I'm writing this story for a lot of reasons, but the most important reasons are these two:
As a kid, I always wanted to go on a XS adventure, because they looked like a lot of fun. Adventures are important for everyone to have, even if it’s just through stories. So writing one, and being able to make up the twists and turns that happen, the villains, the heroes, everyone in between - it all fulfills that wish perfectly.
But also--and more importantly--I'm writing this because I want to see Jack Spicer become the hero I know he can be.
Come check out the fic and as always, thank you for reading!
