“Don’t act like you’ve never seen a man come in with a baby strapped to his chest,” Lucas said as he came into the cafeteria and saw Gianna sitting at a table. He had dropped something off for Elena, and Allison was in her carrier, against his chest, happily hanging out with her dad. “Excited for this weekend?” he asked as he sat down across from her. “Staying out of trouble?”

“You come here too?” Lucas asked as he spotted Gianna at the bar. “Why the long face?” he added as he sat down on the stool next to her. He wouldn’t stay for long. Just long enough to order his drink, but she seemed a bit down and he wanted to check in although he doubted she would talk to him.

Mark hadn’t heard from Elena. No one had heard from anyone on the plane. After checking on patients on the OB floor, Lucas headed downstairs to the ER to see what else and who else he could help with. He needed to keep his hands and mind busy. He couldn’t let himself be idle for too long. Focus on the work. No news was good news. It meant they were still looking.
“Excuse me,” Lucas told his patient when he saw Gianna heading out of a trauma room. He quickly pulled off his gloves and ran to catch up to her. “Hey! You heard any news?”

Lucas grabbed a bottle of water, adding it to his tray before paying for his meal and finding a table in a somewhat quiet corner of the cafeteria. He needed to continue looking over apartment listings and settle on something, but he knew it needed to be the right space. And somewhere Elena might like, especially if he was going to buy.

“Hey. How are you?” Levi asked sitting next to the paramedic he had met a few times. At least now they had opened the bar and allowed everyone to get a drink. “You were great with the games earlier by the way,” he added with a smile.

Finally, a break in the day. Lola had been from OR to OR all morning, and true, she had missed the fast pace of back to back surgeries, but part of her had gotten used to quiet mornings. Lingering over coffee and maybe the crossword puzzle if she felt so inclined. Lola grabbed a coffee and headed towards the benches. At least, she planned to get some fresh air during her break this afternoon. She spotted Gianna and made a beeline for her friend. “Fancy seeing you here. How are you doing?” she asked sitting next to the blonde.
