The music, the ambiance, the humdrum of people talking and laughing all around him have always been a source of comfort for Tomas. For one who spends so much time performing for an audience, he finds he prefers his off-hours to be lost among the crowd, as much as is afforded to an Italian celebrity, at least. Only then can he forget the thoughts that plague him, and that seem to be multiplying by the month the longer he tries to make Verona his home. These last few days have been harder than usual, ever since the Montagues’ infamous Festa Dell’Amore, and as a result the actor’s particularly keen to bury his thoughts tonight. Which is why, when he finds his complimentary glass rapidly approaching empty, he doesn’t hesitate to find the bar. The cherry on top of the sundae is the familiar face manning it tonight.
“Battista, hey! Long time no talk.” He says cheerfully, although truth be told it hasn’t been that long. Tomas makes a habit of stopping the reticent man for a chat whenever they happen to run-into each other, if for no other reason than that he’s one of the few Montagues who appear to tolerate him. He’s not sure why exactly Battista tolerates him; whether there’s any real affinity beneath that mask of stoicism, or whether the Captain simply can’t be bothered to tell him off in as many words as it would require to get the message across. Either way, Tomas capitalizes on his ignorance and takes the camaraderie where he can find it.
“I keep forgetting your working hours and kicking myself for it. The other bartender’s not as nice as you. Speaking of which,” He waves a hand towards the array of equipment on Battistsa’s side of the bar. “When are you gonna teach me the art?”
