14 years ago (2008), on this day (February 24), Johnny Depp attended the 80th Academy Awards ceremony, at the Kodak Theatre, in Hollywood, California.

On that day, Johnny attended the event with Vanessa Paradis, and was nominated on the “Best Actor” Category for his performance as Benjamin Barker / Sweeney Todd in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”. He was competing with Viggo Mortensen for his role as Nikolai Luzhin in “Eastern Promises”, George Clooney for his role as Michael Clayton in “Michael Clayton”, and Tommy Lee Jones for his role as Hank Deerfield in “In the Valley of Elah” , but the award went to Daniel Day-Lewis for his role as Daniel Plainviewdouble-dagger in “There Will Be Blood”. 

This event marks Johnny’s third nomination for an Oscar, being the first in 2004 for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and in 2005 for his role as J. M. Barrie in “Finding Neverland”. Unfortunately, this also marks his third loss and the last time he was nominated.

So, in the last 14 years, Johnny Depp WAS NOT NOMINATED OR EVEN CONSIDERED IN ANY CATEGORY for an Oscar.
