Boiler Dry Firing Incidents
David G. Bohn has served as president of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation for almost 20 years. With years of experience in the boiler industry, David G. Bohn possesses expertise in a variety of boiler problems, including those caused by dry firing. Dry firing is a condition in which a boiler runs out of water, often due to an issue with the boiler’s feedwater system. This drastically reduces the steam pressure in the boiler. If a safety system’s alerts do not activate or an operator is not otherwise notified of the problem, the boiler will heat up to improper temperatures, which can cause irreparable damage the boiler’s structure and a dangerous condition in the boiler room. If an operator wrongfully tries to add water to the excessively hot boiler, a dangerous explosion can occur. Since many boilers are on automatic systems, or may be unattended by human operators for periods of time, it is important that a boiler is well maintained and has the proper safety systems in place. Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation designs and manufactures systems and products to address these safety and efficiency issues in the modern boiler room.
