Philadelphia songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hazey Eyes somehow managed to evade our ever probing attention this past year, but he’s teamed up with Melbourne’s FEELDS to kidnap our hearts with his latest single, Some Reason, a stringy lush, finespun warbling electronic track. FEELDS slick and souflul cooing, paired with Hazey Eyes’ refined sonic expertise, creates an emotionally charged, thoroughly evocative experience. A touch of Lido and a hint of Nick Murphy can be found in Some Reason’s warm embrace. You can find Hazey Eyes’ debut EP Goodbye from last year, here. FEELDS, a solo project created by Melbourne musician James Seymour, makes a grand entrance onto my radar with a windswept sprawling opus named An Able Beast. This folk hued beauty also features additional vocals by fellow Australian Ariela Jacobs. Together, they whisk us away over panoramic vistas with their emotive and lush soundscape, evoking Bon Iver in the process due to its hearty layers of intricate instruments and earthy magnetism. On soft warbling saxophone is Ethan Jenkins. James Seymour produced and mixed An Able Beast himself, showcasing his dexterous skillset. An Able Beast can be purchased now from iTunes.
