angela’s been established to be forthcoming and relatively unafraid of voicing her stance overall… so it’s quite interesting too see a shift when her and shawn break up at the beginning of season 6. She makes an effort to make shawn believe that they arrived at a mutual decision to call off their relationship, that she’s just as fine with it as she is… which of course, is later revealed to be a complete lie. she effectively summarizes the reasoning behind this choice as she tells cory that “i don’t want him to stop looking for who he is because he feels sorry for me”.

to elaborate, she does not disclose this information to him for two reasons. The first one is preservation, as she doesn’t feel the need or desire to convince him/press the issue that they possibly shouldn’t break up if that’s what he suggested. she mentions to cory that she does not want to beg in any capacity, and if shawn wishes to end the relationship, she’ll respect it. but angela’s second and more prominent line of reasoning, happens to come from a place of insight into how shawn must be feeling as well as support for him. she knows that this experience has probably been very overwhelming and new for him, so when placed into this new environment with more opportunities (that for awhile, he never believed he would have) but also having struggled with parasitic sentiments of uncertainty and anxiety concerning not only his future, but ability to form and maintain a long-lasting and meaningful relationship.. she could tell that he was confused, had unresolved issues he needed to work through to feel free, still searching for a part of himself that he hasn’t truly found. despite the fact that she admittedly cannot stop thinking about him (to the point where she views it as hard to be around cory), the very last thing she would want to do is distract him, impede on his continuous journey to self-discovery, because of a worry that he’s hurting her. she just wants him to be sure. and this is only one of the reasons as to why, in my opinion, she truly is the most mature and understanding person in the show.

(unrelated but this scene between angela and cory might be one of my favourites in the show, it was honestly really sweet to see him realizing that he took their friendship for granted and going out of his way to let angela know that he genuinely wants to be there for her)
