Imagine this if you will. A brainwashed and crazy Starfire attacking the team full throttle feral warrior mode and their (especially Robin's) attempts to survive her attacks and bring her back.

Oh ho.  I like the way you think.

Beast Boy and Cyborg are the only two who can take her hits while in close quarters, so they wind up doing a lot of tag-teaming, trying to wear her down or hold her still long enough for something to get through to her.

Raven tries pretty valiantly to alternately restrain her or enter her mind, to see if she can break Starfire out of the grip of whatever has hold of her, or break through to her and bring her to her senses.  Starfire is remarkably hard to crack and her mind is heavily shielded, to Raven’s surprise.  Apparently Tamaranians are stronger-willed than their emotional openness and vulnerability makes them seem.

Robin patently ignores the danger and gets into close quarters himself, despite the protests from the others.  He spends most of his time ducking and dodging her fists, because he can’t bring himself to hurt her or use any of his equipment on her.

All of them are pretty much yelling and trying to get her to snap out of it.  “We’re you’re friends, Starfire!“  “I know you’re in there, Star, fight it!“  She’s vicious and feral and only seems to get more pissed off the longer the fight goes on and the tireder she gets.

When she’s starting to stagger Robin winds up throwing his arms around her and he hangs on even as she’s thrashing, begging her to come back to him.  It doesn’t quite take until she’s thrown him off and has her hands around his throat and he basically just doesn’t do anything to stop her, which flashes her mind back to their stand-off in “Apprentice“ and that’s what breaks her out of it; she drops him in horror and tilts backward a little numb.

Raven has to do a little bit of healing on the bruises on his neck but he’s otherwise fine, and Cy and Beast Boy quickly run up to comfort the traumatized Starfire.

“Robin, look! It is a gift from a secret admirer!” “Oh. Ok.” “Do you not wish to open it? This poor person has spent many hours searching for a perfect gift! At least I think.” “I’ll pass. Could be a trap set by a villain.” “Oh...of course...” Starfire walks off dejectedly. She was the “secret admirer.”

Headcanon: During The Gordanian war, at one point young Starfire was separated from her family, and she stumbled across the ruins of an orphanage, with the bodies of innocents littering the scene. The only survivor was a little dying child, who the Princess frantically tried to comfort in his last moments of life. When the Empress finally found her daughter, Starfire was a mere shell of her former self. That memory remains etched in Starfire’s mind for the rest of her life.

There have already been asks about what would happen if Starfire died, and if Robin died. Now, the ultimate: What if Robin and Starfire were the only survivors? Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg were dead.

Y’all are all evil, you know that?

Losing one or two of them would have been hard enough.  Losing all three of them, going from a team to a duo in one day, was even harder.

Starfire grieves very openly for the first couple months, before settling down into a more somber, subdued version of herself.  Even years later there’s an edge of sadness to her that Robin can detect, even underneath the veneer of her normal cheerfulness.

They were both thrown off kilter by the loss.  Robin was numb for a while, almost listless and unresponsive.  The first few days he isolated himself from Starfire.  Three days in he almost left for Gotham.  Starfire reached out to him in desperation, clinging to him as the last of the Titans left.

“Please do not go,” she begged him when she caught and stopped his departure.  “Please do not leave me too.”

And that was all it took to uncork everything he’d been bottling up and the two of them collapsed to the floor in each other’s arms, crying freely until early in the morning.

There were many serious discussions about what to do next, whether to stay in Jump or move elsewhere.  For a while, the two of them worked out of a new base and left the Tower empty.  Too many painful memories.  Eventually though, they moved back in, inviting new recruits to join them.  A memorial was put up in the front garden.

Starfire misses Beast Boy the most.  Their excited energies bounced off of and fed into each other, and she finds it harder to pull up unbridled joy without him around.

To honor Raven, she spends more time reading and meditating, and keeps a lit incense stick in her and Robin’s room.

She finds a file on the Titans’ computer with several of Cyborg’s recipes and works her butt off to learn them, through many frustrated tearful nights in the kitchen.

Robin feels Raven’s absence the most sharply.  Since the incident with the dust she’d been a constant vague undercurrent in his mind and then all of a sudden she was just… gone from his head.  Sometimes he forgets she isn’t there and tries to reach out for her through their bond, only to feel a wide emptiness and remember.

He makes a concerted effort to track down and contract the Doom Patrol and Cyborg’s dad, to give them the news, and reaches out to Bruce to help handle the funeral.

Silas Stone is very grateful and makes Robin and the Titans an AI program modeled after Victor.  Robin installs it in the Tower and hooks it into his new R-cycle helmet when he and Starfire move back in.  It’s a constant companion for him and the new Titans, and makes him feel like Cyborg’s spirit is still with them.

Together with the Doom Patrol, Robin gets a wildlife preserve dedicated to Beast Boy’s memory.  The reserve rescues exotic animals and has a therapy program for veterans and disabled children.  Starfire visits every so often to make sure the garden is in order and taken care of.

Imagine this: Starfire loses her memory of the past several years and reverts to her vicious, defensive self like when she first met her friends. And she has to learn to trust these strangers all over again. And it’s made all the more awkward because she and Robin were already married at this point.
